  • amazing cherished souls!!

  • they look just like angels <3

  • Hard to imagine these little cherubs picking their noses and flicking it everywhere

  • Have you guys noticed how beautiful all the kids' eyes are? They are so innocent!

  • This is Finlandia hymn... and those lyrics have nothing to do with the original ones... that's sad :(

  • I love this song so much! It's just been on my mind lately...Like I can't get it out of my head. It's so beautiful.

  • Sile anima mea dominum tuum in latere tuo et patientissime sustineret crucem ad tristitiam vel dolorem. Quis non hoc potest? Hi pueri vere angelicum vocibus...

  • This is my favorite hymn and for me I want it in English athough I like to listen to the original too

    Aled

  • @wondrouskid the english lyrics are wrong. original lyrics are about finland's rise from strugle and slavery, and is a tribute to people who fought for finland's freedom. i really hate "be still my soul". many people died and this hymn is supposed to be dedicated to them and what they did, yet somebody has the nerve to steal it.

sorry for ranting and i'm not mad at you, but thought just that i should give a little story about finlandia hymn.

  • Angel Voices ...*goosebumps*

  • This song gives me goosebumps! I heard it at church and I'm so glad I found it here. Just beautiful - and soul soothing!

  • Granted that the Finnish words are the most appropriate to the history of the music, it would surely seem a bit odd to have English boys singing about Finland as their land of birth? It's difficult: music (especially music such as this) seems like it ought to be sung to the original (as much as possible) words, but it would make it rather inaccessible to other nationalities, not because of the language but because of the meaning. And with music this beautiful, that would be a pity.

  • God has given music to bless everyone and it saddens me that Finns are unable to see the bigger picture. The German national song is set to one of our great English hymns and they do not complain as you do. That hymn is 'Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken, zion City of Our God' Written by John Newton, who also wrote 'Amazing Grace' That is;God's grace, not grace the name of your girlfriend.

  • It saddens me, that a piece composed to express nationalism and hope for independence has been converted to a religious hymn.

And it saddens me, that the original use of the lyrics has changed. It's still a wonderful hymn, but the lyrics weren't originally meant to be sung to this melody. Lyrics are from 1700's, melody from late 1800's.

  • @MrFoodSirr actually lyrics are from 1941 but i agree with you. This sounds raped to me because i have strong bind to this piece as national symbol

  • @guitarismysword1 The lyrics are German from turn of the eighteenth century, translated into English in about 1850 - 60 and set to the tune Finlandia. What specis of humanity could object to this beutiful hymn beutifully sung. You need to get a life man.

  • @24bronte i'm sorry i meant the finnish lyrics in finnish which were written in 1941.

those finnish lyrics serve the original purpose of this hymn anyway. but anyway its beautifully sung in this video

  • @24bronte: And perhaps you need to get some compassion (in addition to some spelling lessons), young "Christian"(?). I suspect you have no idea what the people of Finland suffered at the hands of the German Nazi government and its armies, within the lifetime of many on this page. An apology to "guitar" is in order, and a healthy dose of humility wouldn't do YOU any harm, either. Your sarcasm reveals something I doubt you want revealed. Get over yourself.

  • Truly beautiful. I suspect Sibelius would be delighted with this performance even if it is not in Finnish. The only thing wrong with this is that it is just to short. I could have listened to this forever. Wonderful performance that stirs the soul.

  • @2230041 That comment of yours is so, but so sad... Did anyone here even mention religion?

  • @2230041 and you are a heartlss asshole

  • @2230041 jaja que bueno que que el "Paraíso" (jaja que insensatez) esté en las manos de cristianos tan bondadosos y finos como tu persona jajajajajajajajajajjajajajaj, imbecil

  • be still my soul.......

  • This song always reduced me to tears. I've been going thru an incredibly hard trial lately and one thing I have learned is that God is faithful. I may falter and stumble, I don't have the strength I thought I did, and I can't handle this on my own but God continues to give me peace as I turn to him. Beautiful arrangement.

  • @woaafm83 I hope you soon feel better too !

  • This is my most favorite hymn

  • Heavenly!!

  • Breathe taking!! Goosebumps!!

  • we sing this song often to our kids at bedtime, amazing! love the reverb!

  • hi liebra ofical how are you doing hows tom and josh =)

  • Tom is CUTE

  • im speachless beyond the planets

  • Amazing...

  • Beautiful!

  • its beautiful! I wish the entire song was up. :)

  • It should be with Finnish lyrics!!! Oi, Suomi, katso, sinun päiväs' koittaa, Yön uhka karkoitettu on jo pois, Ja aamun kiuru kirkkaudessa soittaa, Kuin itse taivahan kansi sois'. Yön vallat aamun valkeus jo voittaa, Sun päiväs' koittaa, oi synnyinmaa. Oi, nouse, Suomi, nosta korkealle, Pääs' seppelöimä suurten muistojen. Oi, nouse, Suomi, näytit maailmalle, Sa että karkoitit orjuuden, Ja ettet taipunut sa sorron alle, On aamus' alkanut, synnyinmaa.
  • @Principal16

Thanks God they sang it in English so that we can all enjoy it!

  • @Principal16 This song, by J. Sibelius, always reminds me of Yliopilaskunnan Laulajat, the Finnish singing group, who visited Iloilo City sometime in the seventies, and sung this in our school auditorium.

  • @Principal16 I agree with you, if you are a Finn because this song gives the people of Finland nationalistic pride that cannot be equalled! However, if you are not a Finn and you follow the lyrics then the song takes a different meaning altogether because it becomes a solemn prayer!

  • I love this song, it gives me chills whenever I listen to it.

  • does anyone know where to find an instrumental/karaoke version of this song?

  • This song is quite similary than "Finlandia"..which was made by Jean Sibelius...

  • it comes from "Finlandia"

  • yeah, I like Finlandia better, but it's a shame there seldom is any lyrics with the full song.

  • I played Finlandia when I was in an orchestra. We had a choir with us. I cried during the performance. Beautiful.

  • @Bozeman42 Hi there! I have played the flute in a community orchestra, and one of the many highlights has been playing that beautiful, poignant melody on the flute. It speaks without any words.

  • It is the same song with new lyrics

  • How come you didn't put in all of the song?

  • This is a boys choir?? WOW it's amazing, absolutely amazing

  • I am sure this is what heaven sounds like

  • yes...it made me cry,,,so beautiful.

  • Bravo! My Grandfather Dr. Daniel S. translated this into Persian ,and now is in Persian Hymnal. May his soul be blessed forever! I found this video just last night and will send it all over.

  • wow so nice sound like the angle single above the clouds..

  • This song touched me so much! God spoke to me through it so powerfully. God bless you and may He continue to use your songs.

  • This is sucha touching song!

    I love it soo much!

It gives me so many goosebumps!

Every time i hear it It is so calming and lovely! I wish i could hear real angels hear it, But theses boys are so talented its close enough :)

  • 天使みたい!

  • A beautiful song. My son , who was suffering from clinical depression, took his own life in October. This hymn was played at his funeral as the devotional music. It will now always be extra special to me.

  • I was so mooved to see your comment

and how this hymn has given you some comfort.

I am so sorry to hear of your losse you have

indeed experianced the suffering of life:

May peace and comfort be yours

    Terrance

  • Thankyou for your concern. There is much beauty in this world to help us through our" vale of tears": the kind words of strangers and the uplifting sounds of Libera are just two.

  • How old was your son?

  • My son was just 21 years old. His passing has left a void which I try to fill with love and peace and send on to him wherever he may be now. The new Libera CD has some beautiful songs. I listen to them and some buddhist chants to balance myself for him.

  • Very Sorry to hear about your son. Not sure if anything could be more painful.

There's a video on my channel, telling the story of Ryan Halligan, a teenager that took his own life. It's a tragic story that you may find interesting. Yet it may also be too painful for you to watch.

  • I admire your strength and how you have channeled your pain inside yourself to something neautral to get through the days. May god be with you and guide you through new days.

  • I am so sorry to hear about ur son, I really dunno why people commit suicide I guess they thought it's the only way to solve their problem. I wish god will forgive him for taking his own life, wish that u will be alright to these days after loosing ur son.

  • I am really sorry to hear this.

Libera's song is absolutley a perfect one I am a fan of them and attended to their first U.S. concert ever last April with my mom they were all talented and amazing with a beautiful angel voices.

    Talk to you later.

Greetings from Sunshine State, Orlando, Florida U.S.A.

  • THIS is the way it's SUPPOSED to sound. Doesn't Jean Sibelius get any credit here somewhere?

  • Brilliant!

  • church is cashing again with foreign hymns.

  • beautiful. brought tears to my eyes, reminds me of when my friend transcribec it for our choir

  • This hymn is originally Finlandia. Its all about Finland and how beatiful it is

  • Got to remember though, that Finlandia didn't originally have any lyrics. The modern V. A. Koskenniemi ones were added during Winter War.

Check the Finnish 1919 version too, heh.
