rpatrick100, this musical was made shortly after kwanzaa was invented, if it wasn't before it was invented. That is why it isn't mentioned. This is also a CHRISTMAS song that was written before all of the crap you mention was even thought about. There are hanukkah songs and kwanzaa stuff on youtube, so stop complaining.

@Michaelalujevic -- you may not think of Angela Lansbury as a singer if all you've seen her in is her later television roles, but I was fortunate enough to see her (and Beatrice Arthur, and Jane Connell as well as the rest of the original B'way cast) back in 1967, when they came back for a brief time as Ms. Lansbury was leaving the show. Believe me -- Angela Lansbury absolutely CARRIED the show. No question about it.

I wish to protest against this video in the strongest possible terms. Not once is Kwanzaa mentioned, nor is Hanukkah. Cutting holly is not environmentally sound, fruitcake is fattening, tinsel is made in China, candles emit greenhouse gases, and ALL of this reeks of consumerism by the 1% scrooges at the expense of the 99 %'s of the Occupy Wall Street movement. In the future I believe YouTube would be better served to post more politically-correct liberal-approved Marxist music.

Always the gifted & gracious lady; Angela Lansbury; who created the role of Mame through her own visage of the character (ask Jerry Herman if you doubt me, one hell of an audition! *grin*). That day Angela made the role her very own. This song has always welcomed the Yuletide into my home, and will always do. The song perfectly blends (thanks to Maestro Herman) the melancholy mood, with the supremely joyous...when we poor mortals need the boost the most. Perfect blending of lyric & voice. Peace
