  • Thanks for posting, man! I saw Deodato´s Trio in São Paulo, Brazil, last month, and it was awesome!!!!

  • Bla Bla bla , hei dude, stop with the ketamine.

  • Shabaron, I´m sure you didn´t undestand the gig. The music is free to play your own improvement...and exacly it what Deodato is playing about... it´s a language just for few people speak!! best wishes for you

  • agree with ShabaronTV. they would stop

  • Thumbs up if you remember this from the film Being There.

  • Genio !!!!!!!!!

  • A fireball of a jam from '74.

  • Being There :)

  • Would they stop shouting during the performance.

  • Would they stop shouting during the performance!

  • Would they shut up!

  • amazing.

  • AMAZING PERFORMANCE.......DEODATO FOR EVER!

  • perfecto!

  • Another fantastic piece of Jazz meeting Classic !

  • Grooooooooooooooooooooooooovyyyy m@@@@@@@@@nnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh HELL yes this is awesome!

  • dammit, what a groove this tune has; out the back of the big brass crescendo it just absolutely stomps - i luv it!

  • Genial interpretacion de Deodato a este gran tema, felicidades y gracias por compartirlo.

  • Undistinguishable Mr. Deodato... really !! Great!!!

  • what you are looking for probably is super strut

  • Guitar man took a proper slice!!

  • This is a pretty sweet performance. There are a couple others on here (with a full orchestra) that are WAY too-fast. You can't rush this one - ESPECIALLY with a full orchestra. It needs to groove, and how can you groove with an orchestra if your going way too-fast. It's like "Hey, moron! Where's the fire!".

  • does anybody know if Eumir Deodato, did any songs like the start of, Diana Ross's "Is This What Feeling Gets?(Dorothy's Theme)" (The Wiz)

If somebody does please please please let me know!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am looking for one, another long version by Deodato. It's not Space odessy but much faster. Can any one help?

  • It could be "Super Strut"

  • Can you imagine a remastered version of 2001 with this opening ?

    WOW

    O

    WOW !!

Had this on CD, & it blew me AWAY !

  • goosebumps

  • Is that Steve Gadd on drums and does anyone know who the rhythm section is? I know they all played with him back at that time during CTI records.

  • Steve Gadd played on the original?

  • No, Billy Cobham did.

  • That's just as good. I love Billy Cobham. His "Spectrum" album is a classic.

  • AWESOME

  • 2001 space odyssey would have been slightly better with this version! GENIUS!

  • yeah the guitar overplayed a bit, but I wasn't aware that you could adjust the pitch of a trumpet, which from my limited knowledge of brass instruments, is a B flat...To ensure correct pitch before a performance, all orchestral instruments as a standard practicetune to the A note from an oboe, which is the most difficult to tune...kbasu, when I first heard this at the age of 14, it sent chills up and down my spine...and still does today at the ripe young age of 52 :)

  • I was barely walking when this song came out. By God what a treat it must have been for people to hear it for the first time. This is why GOD gave humans the power of music.

  • I don't think it was "GOD", especially since this is based on Strauss' tone poem also sprach zarathustra, based upon Nietzsche's work of the same name, which famously declares "God is dead"!!!!!!

  • who's god?

  • i like this song

  • a trumpet is out of tune and the guitar is overplaying, Deadato blew minds when he came out with this way back, it got him a ton of work as producer and arranger...

  • the guitar player is playing his ass off

  • Coole Performance! Da sträuben sich einem die Haare. SUPER!

  • Deodato music are simply awesome and fabulous... absolutely best & to me he is a really great. His albums are a MUST to collect. Thanks for the post.

  • As lovely as I remember it as Kid...

  • That 1972 version of Also... is definitely the BEST one! 4 years after the film, and it was the No.1 pop hit in Australia for almost an entire year- the longest-running pop #1 of all time here, and still hasn't been surpassed. Performed excellently by this orchestra.

  • i saw him in a concert like 32 years ago in Venezuela He is great!!!!

  • yeah!!

  • The first original MASHUP

  • Thank you God (lol thats funny)I'm not that young but I was way too young back then, I'm gonna search for that album, it's a must have, I have to add that it was a well deserved grammy, this is a video that I enjoy watching over and over again. Once again my friend thank you for sharing. I appreciate it.

  • Great performance!

  • ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, a new twist of a Strauss classic... thank you for sharing

  • ver 800: you are too young to remember. Deodato won a grammy (the top award in America for recording) for his record of this in 1973.

  • deodato, meus amigos gringos, e´ o maior ícone da música brasileira...

  • This put a big smile on my face as it brought back old memories.

  • Why dont you go stick a corkscrew up your arse?

Simply put, you dont like the music? Fuck off and dont listen to it dumbass.

  • groovy, I had to dance.

  • God bless DEODATO!

  • I think French Band Air's 'La femme d'argent' may have subconsiously been influenced by this much piece which was released as a record in the early 1970s.

  • AWESOME

  • Ron Carter, Billy Cobham & John Tropea are needed to give this performance some gravitas.

  • You should all check out the Peter Sellers / Shirley MacLaine film Being There - the studio version of this is integral (from when Chance leaves the old man's house to when he meets Shirley MacLaine's character) - music in film doesn't get ANY BETTER.

  • vecchietti puristi del cazzo dovete morire.

  • This is great stuff. get funky baby, chill fuckin'out.

  • beautiful orchestra but...........whay about the PUNK, hey punk get out of there, you belong to the street.

  • I really like the moderninity of the peice and it is performed very well but...

I'm sorry but Stauss would have turned over in his grave. The poor man didn't even like Jazz Music....

  • So what? It's his loss not ours.

  • Deodato toco' en el cine Bujazan en TIJUANA en los 70's y algunos de mis amigos estuvieron ahi,SALUD A TODOS!

  • Maravilloso!I have waited many years to hear or actually see this.Thanx ANTIFONIA>

  • original chill out , ambient and lounge...

  • no, it's cool!! and it is 30 years old!! have some respect!

  • very funky and disco like.

  • is it me or is there crackling throughout the vid?

  • Hey Annie1962 it is "öde" to be "blöde".

  • DO CARALHOOOO!

  • This piece of music was used magnificently in "Being There" with Peter Sellers.

  • oh yeah! give it up for the orchestra!!!

  • What type of music is this? Is it a sort of jazz fusion? It sounds really cool, with the solos and using the orchestra in addition to more jazzy elements. Very very good.

  • Deodato ONE OF THE BEST ARTISTS OUT THERE WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM DO SOMETHING WITH MICHAEL FRANKS AND MICHAEL RUFF.

  • Anyone see being there?

  • incredible arrangements!!

  • Only disadvantage of this video is low quality.

  • I was very sceptical about this at first, but whát an arangement indeed! Keeps quite some of the bombastic euforia of the original, but it's of course very funky. Though I'm obliged to say, there are more classically orchestrated versions (on youtube) that move me a lot more. (The movie which just shows Strauss' head is the best performance if you ask me). Ah, this is cool though.

  • Now that is what you call an arrangement

  • everyone having fun and enjoying .love it!

  • eyy they'r just having fun, how can u say this is a shitty version? the conductor tells the audience to calp lmfao this is musicians having fun at its best, and its just a pleasure to listen to soo enjoy it to the fullest i wish i was there tho

  • This is a shitty version of 2001!!!

  • It is called Also Sprach Zarathustra

  • utter shit, strass is spinning right now

  • Luddite

  • very very gooooood !!!! Jej co za skład, szkoda ze ich nie słysze w innym utworze

  • Purist

  • You mean I like to listen to a performance that is not drowned out by moronic hollering on the part of the audience and is also performed by people of talent .....

In other words purist = taste. I agree.

  • I would say they are all of talent. I suppose that you have some talent, to go around denying others theirs? And I believe that 'hollering' as you put it is people enjoying themselves. I suggest you blow the dust off your opera glasses and try to be a little more modern.

  • People in the crowd reacting to a performance is a simple reality of a live venue these days.

This is not the style of music which one sits down and listens to in quiet reflection.

  • sounds phishy ;)

  • originally done like this by deodato in 1972

  • do caralho

  • thanks for posting it, just wish it was better quality sound! i dnt mean to be rude, looking a gift horse in the mouth, and stuff, just its such a great track and its hard to enjoy with this sound quality and those peeps yelling all the time. three stars.

  • there was a better audio one on youtube, but it was taken off a couple months ago, youtube strikes again!! boooo! :(

  • anyway, deodato is great!! :)

  • deodato was arranging strings on Bjork and Bells Homogenic album :)

  • not bad very cool

  • Outstanding.

  • horrible!

  • The Space Funky Odyssey!!!

  • EXCELLENT

  • wow, very cool.

  • Awesome!!

Still remember him from like, 32 yrs ago-he rocked my world by introducing me to jazz/classical/funk fusion.

    Thks MUCHLY for posting!

  • Beautiful, amazing, enthralling, superb.

thank you for putting this here.
