I think Wang Liqin is on his way down now. The young players are getting better then him. And I don´t think he can gett any better, rather bader. But it won´t take long until Ma Long is best in the world. He is getting better and better all the time!

Two of my favorites in current time. Ma Long has the advantage b/c she is a lot quicker than Wang. Also, Ma likes to take every shot as a kill while Wang likes to set things up a with a slow shot and then finish with his deadly forehand. As a result, Ma often has the advantage before the start of every rally. Ma can't do this with Wang Hao because his style of play is different. Also, Wang Hao has more odd angle shots than Wang Liqin, giving Ma Long more problems. Soon Ma will overcome this.

I think it is just that Wang Liqin's style is suitable for Ma long's. Ma long 's counter attack is very effective against Wang Liqin.

On the other hand Wang Hoa style is not convenient for Ma Long. It is age too. Ma Long is 20 Wang Liqin is i think 29 or so.

Wang Liqin could've took at least two games, but he lost focus, as he usually does with Ma Long. Ma Long is just a bit more consistent that WLQ, and he doesn't lost balance when he drives him around the court.

Wang Liqin sucks this match.. Ma Longs strokes are better, faster.. and he plays smart..

I think.. the glue ban kills WLQ.. and Ma Lin.. And made Wang Hao and Ma Long stronger..

Chinese players always tend to age faster then others.

Most Chinese players are going downhill after turning 28 or so.

Check Guoliang and Guozheng. And many others.

True, but Liu Guoliang didn't retire cos of his age or ability. It was because the new 40mm ball and service rule was destroying his game. So he became head coach instead. He still can beat all the women players on the national team with the shakehand grip!

@GBtabletennis Ugh, I'm so sick and tired of people making excuses for people with speed glue. The game is just as fast and spiny as with speed glue, if not more so with the higher tech rubbers. Wang Liqin doesn't need speed glue, he's just still ripped and stays fit and up with his training.

In a 1 on 1 sport there are no excuses, none at all.

@Opalance If you cannot see the advantage speed glue offers over regular glue, then your level is still not there. A multi-layer speed glued Sriver offers more spin, speed, dwell, and feel than Tenergy. After the ban, Wang Liqin has tried very hard to push the rules by applying Haifu oil to make ist similar to a speed-glued rubber. All players are trying to tune their rubbers in some way. Trust me, all top players( except Timo and Samsonov) were very angry about the glue ban.

@randompop101 Now that you mention it, i miss my speed-glued Sriver. That rubber used to be so freaking good... I feel bad for Ryu the most. His game just crashed after that glue ban
