SO WRONG YOU ARE SUCH A NOOB YOU INSTALLED THE RAM WRONG, n00b n00b. Theres instructions on the case of the MacPro telling you where to install RAM. And the extra Ram you're supposed to install on the bottom riser card in the slots closest to the motherboard. Stupid Noob!

And you are supposed to Match RAM as well! You dip shit
Change the title to how not to install ram in a mac pro..
You're supposed to use the first 2 empty slots in the 2nd riser card instead of filling the first 4 slots on the 1st riser card. You are using your memory in single channel mode. And that memory is not apple approved, you need the big heat sinks.
Dude I work with Apples and I know what I am doing andthis Ram's are heat sinks they are different then the big one and there is no difference if you put it on one or both it works the same
This comment is irrelevant, the Mac Pro uses ECC RAM which has a small chip on it that controls it/detects corrects errors. It gets much hotter and needs large heat sinks although I believe there are 3rd party "mac-approved" DIMMs out there now.
Im pretty sure you need to use ram with oversized heatsinks on them to stop any errors occuring. Ive heard some cases where there hasnt been issues, but some where there has been. ah well.
no i let u know one thing the ram that i installed on this mac pro is also a heatsink ram ur right the only difference is that its just not as huge as the ones that come with them and nothing happens it doesnt make anything slower at all
Oh right, I know the ones you installed do have heatsinks on them, I just thought you had to use the oversized ones to aid cooling as there is no additional cooling in the ram housing.
On a side note, my Mac Pro order is being processed XD
you can install the ram in any of the bases but its better to install it in the base were the 1st gig of ram comes in we know because were mac technicians

I was wondering when you install an extra ram does it have to be the same sort as the others one?

why not 32gb of ram, that will only run about $7000 not from apple. Its Fb-dimm in 4gb sticks too, which is impossible to find. Its rather annoying.
