I get SO annoyed by all of these Quran videos that fill in stuff in Brackets like: "You are a free man in this city (and blah blah blah blah blah) all of this EXTRA irrelevant stuff that was NOT part of the revelation but simply an interpretation, stop it already!

What do you mean by that? Are you talking about when you are searching something from the search engine and Qur'an comes up or the brackts in the translation of the Qur'an

Yes in the translation in these videos, the Quran is clear and EASY to understand, ayah 2 simply says "And you are a freeman in this city" (whats the point of the whole comment in brackets - how do you know that is the literal translation or meaning of the Surah) - stop playing with the Quran! It is very annoying.

Salam, i wanted to point out the first verse of this surah is La uqsimu bihadhal balad... translation shud be I will not or i DO not swear by this city. instead the slide show shoes I SWEAR by this city... if im wrong please correct :) other wise mashallah beautiful thanks for ure postings wassalaam

Yes, i think it's "Nay! I swear..."

But Muhsin Khan's translation doesn't have it, that is the translation i use.

I'll double check again, to see if they left it out, or if i did.

salaam guys the translation in meaning is correct, the word "la" in this instance does not mean "no" when the word "la" is used in this case it means whatever follows is for certain or for sure, i.e. to magnify the significance of what is about to follow. perhaps the better translation like the sister said would be "Nay! i do swear by this city" etc and Allahu a3lam read tafisr online if u want jsut type in tafsair ibn kathir in google
