  • Damn, you nailed that bass part! Great job!

  • Stop Bleaching your skin

  • YO Zeppelinus!! I have up loaded some bass lines now, come and have a look, tell me how I'm getting on .... This is still wee beyond me though!! LOVE IT mate!!

  • Kanye West Champion :) a better song than this in my opinion

  • Very nice!! Move to Carlsbad, NM and play in my band!!! LOL!! I wish!!

  • Great playin. What kind of bridge is that a Badass,Gotoh?

  • As a SD fan, this is so fun to watch. Your other stuff is great too. I do the same thing on the keyboard, but I am not at your level. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Excellent job. Very tight.

  • Great job and spot on! Do you have the transcription to this song?

  • I just heard the guitar drums and vocals on this song and thought it was amazing. I started listening to the bass after watching this! Now, I think this song is in-fucking-credible!!!

  • Perfect.

Did you learn any good tricks or ideas from transcribing this?

  • Nicely done.

  • Going to add this to my favourates and study it clinically!! Once again trully AMAZING Zeppelinus!! Judging by your name i take it your a led Zeppelin fan?? What a bass player J P Jones is aye!!?? Any chance of doing a 'Good Times Bad Times' bass video?? Been trying to get that tune for ages but just can't find it!!

  • @Sauron191 Yeap. I'm a huge Led Zeppelin fan, but never tried JPJ's bass line, though. I'm so sorry for what happend to you. I'd like to watch your videos playing those tunes. Go for it, man!!! :)

  • That is AMAZING!! Just started playing bass after 25 yrs being a drummer, serverly smashed my right wrist up after dropping a cement mixer on it, 6 ops and 25 pins later I have lost all my stick speed!! been toying with the bass for yrs but now I'm having lessons and I'm doing ok. Can play some decent basslines now e.g. 'Give it up ur turnit loose remix and superbad' by James brown, 'Heavy Tune' by Gong 'Chameleon' by Herbie Hancock to name a few BUT THIS tune is my ultimate goal!!

  • hey that's a sexy ass bass man, 60s or 70s fender jazz, but which one? that color is epic too.

  • @sh4ne It's Fender 1975 Reissue Jazz. THanks! :)

  • Hi! Great playing! Did the preamp and battery fit into the cavity, or you had to make some more room for them?

    Thanks!

  • @TheRareDevil The Sadowsky shop made a room for the battery on the back of the bass. Thanks! :)

  • @zeppelinus Aha! got it! Thanks for the answer man. Nice shirt btw, look up for "Gedeon - Valami Változott". Me playin a great Warwick SSI there.

  • Fanntastic Bass Playing your great! Inspired me to take it up in fact! Im a guitar player too. run the SRV fan club southern region. thanks for posting!

  • @SRV1 Thank you!! :)

  • @zeppelinus Very good...

that song!...if you would ask me to write the bass lines for this song......."dificult to compete".

  • well that was totally smooth. nice playing. that's a good looking bass too

  • Nice Jazz Bass! Is that an early 70's or a reissue?

  • great job man. chuck rainey is the f'ing man and one day before i die i will be able to play this bassline

  • dude such a sick bass

  • Great Job. Thanks

  • Man, that bass sounds amazin bro. [2]

  • Man, that bass sounds amazin bro.

  • Nicely played, and great bass!!! I love the 70s basses and reissues, they are my personal bass heaven! Much Bass love and respect to you sir.

  • Ah! great tune! Excellent execution Mr. Bass master!

  • @hartistry1957 Thanks for kind words! :)

  • good job man..

  • @hendrixfreek Thank you!! :)

  • Great job on that bass line! Rainey is one of my favorite bass players

  • @benvye Thanks. He is one of MY favorite too!!!

  • Is that a Squier neck?

  • @ScaryManLikesCereal Oh.. my bad... I looked at your other videos and that is indeed, a Fender neck! Nice playing!

  • @ScaryManLikesCereal Yes, it is a mod-75 Fender Reissue Jazz. Thanks a lot!! :)

  • That is so good. I am jealous. I just cant use the two fingers, but I do use thumb and first finger. I like your timing, perfect, and AHEAD by only a millisecond, of the drums. way to go.

  • @analyzingfunny THank you very much!!! :)

  • That's a gorgeous jazz bass. Love the seafoam green...looks amazing with the maple board and black blocks! Great playing!

  • @chrisbmets Thank you very much!!!

  • Excuse me mr, i would like to buy a marcus miller jazz but i just want this colour, is there in sold or not?

  • @ilduceconduce Hi, there!! I am pretty sure that Marcus Miller Jazz only has three color options: Natural, White and Sunburst.

  • Tastycakes.

  • @kinshasaAPP Thank you very much!!

  • haeeellls yeah! ^_^

  • @superduperryane Thanks!!! Yeah!!! :)

  • wow, just outstanding. great feel and time. How long did it take you to learn this?

  • @steg111 Hi! I can't remember exact time but I'm pretty sure that it took a month or a little bit more. This one is really hard to keep in time! Thanks for you kind comment!! :)

  • yeah! excellent!

  • @HollandGreco Thanks a lot!!!! :)

  • spot on! good job

  • Thank you very much!!! :)

  • Oh I see my mistake because I thought the whole bass was a sadowsky because of the preamp

  • the bass sounds fucking awesome, Sadowsky are almost the perfect basses the only things I hate about them is the very thick and fat necks

  • Thank you very much! Mine is not Sadowsky. It's Fender 75 Reissue with Sadowsky preamps on it!! :)

  • Nice job. Beautiful instrument!

  • Thank you very much!!! :)

  • It's good to see someone play who understands the philosophy of bass. I can hear that in your playing...you know what it's supposed to do and how to make it do it. Cool.

  • Thank you very much!!! :)

  • Verrry nice best i've seen on youtube :D

  • Thank you very much!!! :)

  • Cool bass guitar, and nice job. You've got the Chuck Rainey spirit, yet you have your own style as well, which seems to vary from more understated to a slight embellishment, depending on what's happening in the rest of the song. I can appreciate what you are doing here. Thanks for posting it.

  • Thank YOU for the nice comment!!!! :)

  • sweet bass

  • Thank you very much!!! :)

  • That sounds mighty fine to me. I had to learn this song in a hurry a few months ago so I took a shortcut and downloaded a GuitarPro tab. Although that version sounds good and solid, your rendition here has loads more dynamics and feel. Fantastic tone too - well done

  • Thank you very much!!! :)

  • a little to many pauses, this song needs a totalyy solid bass line. and i thought that the slides up were a little naive. also, think about it a little more musicaly rather than just the 1-5-8-3 working. OK NOW FOR WHAT WAS GOOD! very great rythmic abilty, and a VERY great feel to the song. GREAT JOB

  • I was just trying to cop the feel of the original bass line that Chuck Rainey played as much as possible. I know that I still need to do a lot of work and your comment really helps! THanks!!! :)

  • @Chazzbass13 who are u to judge!! i think it sounded great.great pocket!!

  • Your bass line, energetic and a great tone.......albeit not perfect but very nice effort. I will approve your video response.

    Peace

  • Thank you very much!!! :)

  • beautiful bass. i have an american P-Bass, im thinkin of sellin it for one of these, what do u think?

  • Thanks! I had a P-Bass that i sold last year and I've been missing it so much. I think that you should keep your P and save up money to buy this bass.

  • Don't listen to shit heads likeanalyzing he can't tell his brain from his ass sorry same thing!

  • Keep trying it's not easy!

  • Well done and great sound also. Did the preamp and the battery fit into the existing cavity once you had relocated the jack and did the new bridge make much difference, is it a badass? great job.

  • Thanks! The preamp job was done at Sadowsky shop. I don't know if the preamp and the battery fit into the existing cavity but they routed the back of body for the battery and relocated the jack on the side. Some people may disagree with me, but IMO the badass makes overall sound tighter and gives strings more tension which I love.

  • Damn you fuckin nailed it. That is a tough one to play. That broken timing is out of sight!

  • Thank you very much!!! :)

  • That is good and you are welcome at MY studio (Scully 280-8 one inch 8 track vintage) anytime!

  • I've never recorded on vintage tape machines before. I use Logic and ProTools, though. I'd love to visit YOUR studio sometime later. Thanks!

  • I've been trying out this song on my bass (I LOVE the Dan and am actually going to their Royal Scam concert tonight in Seattle (!!!)) but YOUR version is FANTASTIC. I'll be studying it and trying to copy it as well as I can.

  • Thank you!! I'm looking forward to watching your " Kid Charlemagne" video soon!! Good Luck!

  • Man, you sond great!! I like you Bass, it's that a sadowsky?

  • Thank You! It's Fender 75 Reissue bass with Sadowsky Preamp on it.

  • Nice, I'm have a Fender DXL 2000 5 strings, With Sadowsky Preamp,

  • Does it sound same as mine? I bet it sounds great!

  • I have a Geddy Lee bass. I believe it has the same neck as yours but doesn't have the master volume knob. I love it, a very fast neck. Really liked your "Forget Me Nots" video too. You're a very good player. Thanks for posting it up.

  • I've never had a chance to try Geddy Lee bass but heard a lot of good things about the bass. Both are from 70's Jazz Bass configuration so I guess it's identical. I think that "Forget Me Nots" is a little bit clumsy. I'm not good at slapping, though. Thank YOU for kind words.

  • What's not to love...the dan, the bass, the playing, the block inlays

    ....sweet!

  • Thank you very much!!!! :)

  • Very nice playing. . ....I'm jealous of your bass!!!

  • Thank you! :)

  • great bass dude i wish fender made a surf green color bass. i'd so get it in a heart-beat. loving the pickup cover too. and great playing man keep it up

  • Thank you!!!!

  • Very nice my man! I m arranging a version of this tune for a class and you just cut the transcribing time in half. word!! keep it up!

  • Thank You! I'm glad that I can help!

  • Loving this song since the 70's. Steely Dans finest. Just getting around to learning it on bass. You did a good job here. Hope you don't mind me taking your cues. Really good job!. Also, is this not the best damn guitar solo you've ever heard?? Hats off to Mr. Larry Carlton.

  • I don't mind at all. If I play guitar, definitely I would go transcribing the guitar solo as well! All musicians on Steely Dan's albums are superb!!! Thanks for the comment.

  • Excellent work! Can I just shout to Chuck R and his unbelievably inventive line on this track; one of my favourite bass tracks ever. Thanks for going to the effort of putting this on!

  • Thank you! Chuck Rainey is such a genius creating bass line like this. I hope he keeps playing.

  • very nice job!

  • Thank You!

  • wow freakey

i did this for an old mick karn lick on david sylvians red guitar back in the old days on super 8!

  • Thank You!

  • thanks for the info, I dug out my old Bass Player mags and found it! Maybe I'll put it up, if I learn it good.

  • I'm looking forward to it! Enjoy!

  • Yeah man!

  • Thanks, man!

  • great job man, do you have the tab for this? I have been trying to learn this by ear and I'm having a tough time with it. Keep up the great playing!

  • Thanks, man. I usually learn songs by ear, so I don't have the tab. You can find the tab from Bass Player magazine 2004 March Issue(Pino on the cover). It has the tab for this. I also had a tough time to learn this song until it came out.

  • u awesome man~

  • Thanks!
