thats great, i watched this video the day after halloween for the first time, i just got my first katana and we stole at least 200 pmpkins off porches.....i had a BLAST at 1:46 it looks like the pumpkin made a frown face after you cut it because of the light shinning through its mouth. hilarious, was that intentional or just coincidence??
@ZentetsukenVII Just coincidence. Glad you liked it. I grow my own pumpkins so i always have lots to cut, heheh.UBC now has it's own forums at unitedbackyardcutter(dot)com
@EToastE Right hand actually. I've had Psoriatic Arthritis for 20 years now which effects almost all the joints in my body, including my hips, knees , back, neck, etc. I can't close my right hand or grip very firmly with it. I'm currently suffering from a flare-up in my left elbow and can't straighten my arm out. Part of my life, I guess.
J@Jeeperrandy I see, if you happen to watch my video of me shooting my gun with my gun with my brother in law, you'll see I can't straighten out either of my arms. That's what made me curious about you.
Even with that disavantage and also my short stature I manage to be the captian of my kendo team.
@EToastE It sounds like you are well able to overcome these things, as i do. I just remind myself how much worse off some people have it, and i am able to continue to do things i enjoy. Cheers and take care.
This is awesome. I LOVED 2:20 - 2:30, very, VERY skillful my friend. Great series.
You've got a good vehicle here, man - Samurai vs. Evil Pumpkin Demons. I have to say that it's rather good. Especially in the earlier video, when you're reading the paper, and you have this look on your face, like "This will not be allowed to continue", and the scene with the sword, and the box? Great writing & acting - World's best UBC Ad.
COOL!! I did not know you made a part 2...just saw it for the first time...Man that last one was so funny...the doofy looking pumpkin at the end, cant stop watching your vids. Way cool.
lol, put the pumkin heads on fake bodys and put them on carts and have people pull them with long ropes and youll have some moving targets, lol. that sounds like fun i might have to do that... lol
I actually have 5 hakamas ( as well as kimonos , haoris and even a kataginu ) and I own 7 katanas, a few of which are higher quality. I wouldn't risk damaging a good katana just hacking pumpkins in the back yard though
your katana is a emperor katana or a emperor double edge katana?

hehehe you really have a pumpkin issue...
just joking, it's fun to have a few pumpkins to cut just for the fun of it on a lazy day/afternoon
there were some good cuts too
quite good to see that both parts stay together or pratically together after the cut
congrats

If you don't mind, why do you say you have limited use of your right arm?

Randy, you're a trip! Another great one, which sword are you using?
jonislow 3 years ago
I just use my Masahiro cheapy when I'm cutting the pumpkins. If it gets stained or bent I don't really care too much.

This is not intended to be for the October UBC video contest. I just did it for shits and giggles.
