  • Nothing like a good ol' 240p clip.

  • 1:26 - Dude, it's jazz, relax a bit ;) hehe

  • Not enough Jug for me but still a very satisfying video.

  • I played on the same stage while in a High School Band as part of a school band competition.

  • @jazz1bro

I played on that stage once too - We opened for Pat Metheny!!!

  • ??? This is some no-swinging crap in the rhythm section... and it's Kenny Clarke, swinging, but the conga player and Bob playing electric... man, that is sad. Listen to Cannonball/'s band on another clip. It always swings... that conga player should be shot. Terrible and Cannonball is reaching but not feeling it.

  • @laughingtiger123 You are a sad and negative person, what you state is wrong and I hope you are feeling much better now. Keep your stupid remarks to yourself in the future. This just proves you have no knowledge of music.

  • @laughingtiger123 LOL. Buddy learn to feel swing.

  • Cannonball with Jugs Ammons. Great, Great, Great!

  • Long live to Dex and Cannonball jazz mentors

  • D-lightful! Thanks so much for posting!

  • dang cannonball had a fro!

  • I hope... if I make it, these guys are up there playing, and I can join them...

  • GREAT MUSICIANS .....does anybody know of other recordings with Dexter and Cannonball ???

    Thank you for this

  • damm. this is sublime!

  • Thanks man! I just saw Jug move for the first time!

  • What a shame - Jug (Gene Ammons) would be dead a year after this recording, and Cannonball two years later. Both should've been around a lot longer.

  • ¡Excelente para ampliar conceptos!

  • Nat looks natty, as always.

  • Love Dex's jumper!

  • Ja ja!! en 3:58 se le cayó el pucho! y eso que sobrevivió las semicorcheas

  • what a group! these guys should have been playing across America every week-----they are the greatest players of the saxophone of that day and this-----dexter is so controlled an funky!

  • It would get boring if it were for all eternity, so I hope you're wrong.

  • Heaven is just those motherfuckers trading 4s for all eternity!

  • This is a entire DVD? Where can i find it? Awesome!

  • my sons godfather rolando briceno hosted canonball at his home in venezuela many years ago. the man was agreat artistand as such changed. You can hear the Avante garde influence in his playing. Dexter and Ammons are clearly recognized by their lines and style. Cannonball was wailing.

  • Klook!! :) 3:40

  • Dexter is so great as usual... let him play! XD

  • um um um!

    butter

  • did he really need to hold on to that cig that bad? Man can play though.

  • i disagree. why would you expect such a great musician to keep doing the same? this is not losing brilliance this is doing something different with, if you ask me, no less quality then his earlier work.

  • yeah man, how many times do you reckon he has played a blues? got to keep it interesting, its wicked to hear him like this, do you want to hear the same cannonball solo over and over again? Dont forget what 'jazz' is yo

  • ohh man..this is a really good video..never heard Cannonball play like this..i like him even more now..what a bad ass..but yeah i agree, mos def some cheeba up on that stage..haha

  • Cannonball passed in 1975. His playing sounds so liberated here. And, to think he's doing all that with a cigarette in his fingers. You don't see that so much any more. Guys take care of themselves a lot better now.

The way these guys played needs to be reinvestigated. So many young players have no idea of the wealth of information they really offer.

  • Yeah! All stars! All the greats are here!!!!!!!

  • Call the Health and Safety cops smokin' on stage!

  • Oooooweeeee, Ammons is SMACKED BACK!!!, A snapshot for the ages with Long Tall Dexter, Cannonball and Gene Ammons. I think Cannonball passed not too long after this. Thanx for posting

  • That's Dex too.

  • Great. Thanks. When I think back to where I was in 1973, damn. Seeing this is like a flashback...the good kind.

  • Wonderful clip ! Thank you for posting this. Great to see Cannon in a loose setting.

  • The album is Gene Ammons and Friends "Live at Montreux '73". They also tear through Yardbird Suite... great late Cannonball and Ammons.

    Peace.

  • they all look stoned lol

  • muthafucka got a loosey between his fingers

  • dido!!!!!

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS...I've been waiting to see Gene Ammons on video.
