If your looking for deep bass find a shop that carries Earthquake shallows ,only sub on market that will give full 2inch excursion like a normal woofer
@12mrJL RF 4000 would blow that hifonics AWAY! I mean in amps wise i would take hifonics and rockford anyday of the week cause they are good amps but 4000rms+ is what that rf should be pushing
I just borrowed some of these subs from a friend of mine... I currently have 12" cvr on my 2010 ram but they sound just ok... Plus they smell like burnt if i really crank it up... I was thinkong of putting 10" solo barics but i will see how these speakers sound tomorrow...
its sounds like yours are making the same weird sound as mine. almost like a slight ringing/rattling noise. i dont really know how to explain it. but they sound good.
how hard does the bass hit. cause im looking for some for my 2000 f150 and i wanna know if these are the right choice. i like the shallows for pick ups.
@MJBruno180 Just ordered some yesterday, These were the only ones i found that were Dual Voice coil... Kickers shallow's, and Pioneers shallows were single voice coil.
@ninezerofour where did you get that stuff from? caus im looking to put speakers under my back seat in my ford. and i wanna know how much it all cost to do it. minus the radio cause i have one. and can you put your seats down and is th back seat still functional??.
clean setup bro, but i wouldnt mess with rockfords new stuff, and hifonics is sort of a no no, look up audioque, incriminator audio, or sundown audio. alot better stuff man
u need a better box for those woofers bro they kick ass on a long run boix from side to side i have 2 12'' same with the long box under the sitt and the fucken bump same am a 2000w
idk if its your boxes pinging and you need some like polyfil in your boxes or something to make it have more depth or if its your camera but tht doesnt sound right...
in the fords, i wouldnt do anything bigger than 10's under the back seat. with the amount of airspace with no seat lift at all, the box could provide enough space for a single 12. also, make your next box downfire. loading the subs off the floor will hit harder than loaded to the bottom of the seat. best bet would be a fiberglass box for those 12's, that way you dont waste space with 3/4 mdf since you need it. good start though man
I have one of these subs, I built a box that has 1.1 cubic feet of air space with fiberglass insulation in the box. I previously had it in a box about the size of the ones you have here. Let me tell you, world of difference. Mine only gets 300W RMS, shakes everything/everyone in the truck.
@masterwolf1212 I originally bought it and made a box that fit under my seat. After awhile I got bored of that and made a box that was the optimal air space for the sub because I felt like it. I wish I would have went ahead and bought the full size sub instead of the shallow. As soon as I blow the one I have I'm buying a better one.
Anyone know where I could get a setup like this ( shallows) in a kit with amp wires boxes ect? An ok brand would be nice but need to keep it under $300
yea bro, like the comments above, no matter how big the sub, if ur box is shit, u hit shit, make sure to look up wat the recommended air space they need. my buddy has 2 kicker cvt 10's in a king ranch in a sealed box and that shit slams. i got a 12" solo baric l7 that i have yet to make videos of.... i think i may have the same truck as you
@ninezerofour would the p1's fit in a box like that because i have a 2004 toyota tacoma and im trying to find out if p3's may hit hard enought to have in my cab let me know you have any advice please and thanks
@ninezerofour doude that sound pretty good but i have been looking at P1's would they fit in a box like that or do the p3's it hard enought i have a 2004 toyota tacoma so it is a small cab let me know what is up
@welder4570 I had a fosgate p1 punch that cracked and i put clear nail polish on it and smoothed it out and it still sounds great but my crack was only like 1/4 inch
Hey bro get two tens i know bigger is better but in this case the two tens will sound deeper plus get a box where you can face them down that way your seats dont eat up the bass a bigger amp will be required cause your rms is prob low

@bastec666 Dude, sorry but an 8 inch sub cannot over power three 12's HAHAH dumbass, you cannot get the SAME sound from a smaller box, unless you can some how tune a smaller box to the sam amount of Hz as big box, which im quit sure isnt possible, my two tens can only beat two twelves, nothing more, and i have over all 5,000 watts, it doesnt beat any more then two twelve's so you're lying about your friends "8 inch" such beating three 12's
ONE JL 8W7 has beaten all setups up to 3 12"s so far that he has went up against. He drives a lancer ralliart.
The smaller the box, the more power it takes to make sound, its basic knowledge. With less air behind the woofer it becomes harder to power it, requiring more power then is rated because its in the wrong box, same thing when you put a sub in a box too big, it takes even less power to make sound.
Go do some research. 12volt would be a nice place to start.
@bastec666 are you fucked in the head? there is a 500WATT amp
pushing the subs, and a 500 watt amp pushing the door speakers, annd 200 pushing the tweets in the doors, dumbass, thats more then 5,000 but go fuck your self you get off the internet with your 8 inch sub
@bastec666 lol, =P thats whats seeable, k, under the seat that the subs are under, is a 1000.1 and those 500 watts are powering the SUBS are in it at the moment, there is also a 2000.1 being added, so i was wrong, it will be 4,200
I don't know of too many amps that do 5kwrms, but a couple for you are the T15kw by Rockford Fosgate which does 7,500Wrms x 2 @ 1ohm, and the Kicker Warhorse which does 10,000Wrms x 1 @ 2ohms.
Actually, people have run the JL8W7 to match the volume of three 12's. It really depends on the circumstances as well. Also, there's no such way of tuning a sealed box. That's not possible. You change the response of the system, but that's it. With that said, you can have a small ported enclosure tuned to the same frequency as a large ported enclosure. Tuning is based totally on the port, but small ported will be louder but large ported will sound cleaner, less turbulant.
An 8" woofer in a sealed box wouldn't be much against three 12" woofers in a sealed enclosure, both run their optimal power in similar vehicles. However, if you change the circumstances, like put the 8" in a small pickup, ported, tuned to 40hz, run 500Wrms, against three 12's in a large SUV, sealed, run with 400Wrms, those would produce similar volumes. Vehicle size has a lot to do with what a subwoofer will read in terms of volume, along with parasitic loss.
That's not tuning. For a given amount of power, a subwoofer will give more or less volume depending on the size of the enclosure, response chanracteristics will change as well, but that's not tuning.
@swagmonster22 Rockfords in a seadled box are amazingly clean... least my p1 15's in a sealed hatch back box in my 96 yukon was good... but i agree it doesnt sound clean here...
Nice setup sounds clean, one thing I've noticed with new rockford subs is that they are loud but they don't flex alot which is a good thing. Check out my vids

You change the response of the system, but that's it. With that said, you can have a small ported enclosure tuned to the same frequency as a large ported enclosure. Tuning is based totally on the port, but small ported will be louder but large ported will sound cleaner, less turbulant.

@phattacorider You kow your stuff, But yeah, an 8 will pound, but if its in a sealed box i dont think it would have much...

@phattacorider Actually there is tunning of a sealed box i didint know etheir but you can tune a sealed box depending how big you make it
toucandan8989 1 year ago
@toucandan8989
That's not tuning. For a given amount of power, a subwoofer will give more or less volume depending on the size of the enclosure, response chanracteristics will change as well, but that's not tuning.

@crazybmxer876 Why don't you go look up the sundown 8". Two 8s did 149 dB on the dash sealed up. So yeah, 8s can beat 12s no problem.

Nice setup sounds clean, one thing I've noticed with new rockford subs is that they are loud but they don't flex alot which is a good thing. Check out my vids
