@royalfootballman First of our sun isn't going to blow up, at the end of it's life it's going to expand to a red giant and then shrink down to a white dwarf, then it will spend the rest of it's life burning whatever energy is has left until it can't fuse anymore atoms. Your science teacher was probably saying IF the sun blew up, and not all star's that go nova will necessarily turn into a black whole, some go into a singularity, which is basically a small planet with an immense gravity.

Correction: No star will turn into a singularity (unless that star happens to absorb all matter in the universe, then, yes, it is a singularity). Supergiants collapse after their supernova into one of two things - if they were smaller(ish, around twice the size of our sun), their supernova will be small enough to allow most matter to escape, but much of the star will collapse into a neutron star. For massive (3x our sun) stars, the matter left over will collapse into a black hole.

@royalfootballman - You are, or your teacher is, a moron. Likely the former. The sun does not have enough mass to collapse on itself during its red giant stage. In... 4 billion years, or so, the sun will begin expanding into a red giant due to less volatile helium fusion becoming its main source of power. In its expansion, it will grow many times its size and swallow the earth (and Mars, I believe). One billion years later, the sun will go supernova and collapse into a white, then black, dwarf.

thats because he didn't blow it up, he simply shot a nuke at it to give it the effect of blowing up because the sun is part of the map and you cant blow up the map.
