The title was misleading. I mean, this guy just talked about examples of different types of documentaries, about documentaries today, etc, but I was expecting some tips on lighting, locations, questions, settings, and transitions. And despite the piece of equipment in the background, the lighting on himself is awful, making it (1) hard on the eyes to watch it and (2) making me not trust him because if he can't light himself, how can I trust him to give me good filming techniques?

I would have to disagree with Thin Blue Line being the first documentary where re-staging a scene was used... there are countless others before it. One major one being Triumph of the Will... Leni Riefenstahl.. way before Think Blue Line which came out in the 1980s
@samuelhwolfe its not one of the first if Triumph of the Will is a documentary (50 years before Thin Blue Line)... all depends on your definition of documentary.
guys, you gotto listen what he says.....hen was talking about the type of docos you could make
