@dhinojosa94 Hi, thanks for your question. The Axiom MK2 maps easily with most popular DAW's such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro and Ableton Live. Although there are templates already setup for automatic mapping with Pro Tools it's fairly simple to map and use the Axiom with Logic Pro.
Do you have a tutorial video on how to write a custom map for the Axiom 49 2nd gen for a third party plug in or even for one of PT's own plug in? I find the Axiom to be a PITA when it comes to mapping within Pro Tools. Maps easily in Ableton Live!

@vintageb3 Hi, thanks for your question. Hope you figured it out. We're putting your suggestion in que for video. It's a commonly asked question and should be addressed. Thanks for watching!
@xmiggs93x Hi, thanks for your question. The Axiom is a MIDI controller keyboard which means it does house any internal sounds but rather it triggers virtual instruments within your recording software. You don't necessarily need a laptop but you do need a computer running software such as Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton or any other DAW in conjunction with a virtual instrument in order to play sounds using the Axiom. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
at 4:30, I have manually mapped some sliders to 3rd party plugin (Nexus) but how to Save them? Because when I restart FL Studio, al my settings are gone :S
Hello. I am running MOTU Digital performer for my DAW and many third party plugins. I have been struggling with all of the different Controllers to choose from. I want it to be easy to use!! Easy to map with my MOTU Software. Will this Axiom 49 be simple to do this with?? Will it work as automatic as it does for pro tools?
@beansor2bacon Hi, thanks for your question. The M-Audio Axiom is a MIDI keyboard controller and not a stand alone synth or piano. This means that it doesn't have internal sounds, contrary to say a Kurzweil or Yamaha Motif keyboard which have internal sound banks, patches and a sound card for playing through speakers. Once you connect the Axiom via USB to your computer it will trigger the sounds within any given virtual instrument inside of Pro Tools or any other DAW.
@WinkSound I've seen a band (Everything Everything) use this live. Would this be because they have it connected to a computer/DAW/interface etc? Or can you store sounds onto it?
@beansor2bacon Hi, thanks for watching! The automap software automatically maps the Axiom MIDI controller to specific aspects of your session like the mixer so you can manually move faders, plugin parameters so you can manually tweak things like an EQ or delay as well as giving you control over the Transport section (play, stop, record and so on). This way you don't have to go through the process of assigning each knob to specific control although you can fully customize the mapping also.
@JoshhHood Hi, thanks for getting in touch. Although Studio One isn't amongst the DAW's that are listed as compatible with DirectLink mode you should still be able to MIDI map parameters to faders and knobs on the Axiom MK2.
Hi ! i am planning to buy a MIDI keyboard controller. I am stuck with M-Audio Axiom series and Novation impulse series. Can you please post a video comparison for the two products....Thank you in advance.. :)
@bedroom58 Only the most important DAW parameters are automatically mapped through DirectLink. Any other parameters you'll have to map manually. We'll send you a link on how to map MIDI parameters to your controller in Logic Pro.
@Indojerr Hi, thanks for getting in touch. The MK2 has been tweaked from it previous MK1 version. Overall most of the nuances such as the keyboard, knobs, faders and connectivity have been streamlined. Nice action on the keyboard, smooth fader and knobs.
OK so I just bought this product. I'm trying to install it on my MacBookPro but I literally cannot click the install button for some fucking reason. Apparently I have all of the system requirements but I just can't install it because I can't click...install. Any solutions to this? because this quite frustrating
@zoazim Hi, thanks for your question. The knobs and faders on the MK2 have a way smoother response. They've definitely tweaked a lot of the MK1 features to work better and seamlessly with Pro Tools and other major DAW's.
@zoazim The problem still exists in the Axiom mk2 I am afraid. This is because the resolution of the Axiom encoders is too low, in other words, each physical full revolution of the encoder sends, say. 50 steps, so you end up having to turn it through several full turns to go from 0 to 127. I believe you can fix this with something like MIDIOX so that one step gets translated into 2 or 3, however you will lose resolution and therefore precision. This is a hardware-related issue.
@error204 Haven't tried out the Akai MPK49 but I would say it all depends on your work flow. The Axiom has the DirectLink mode so if your working with Pro Tools it's pretty much ready to go out of the box already mapped to the Edit page, Mixer page and plugins. I'll have to look up the blend thing on youtube. Thanks for the heads up. Hope this info helps.
@WinkSound Thanks for the quick answer, well i'm planning to buy one of those two, but i've to do some more research, here they are in the same price range, i don't know if the mpk has directlink, hypercontrol or automap, and i don't know if directlink works with ableton live. I'll have to keep on researching.
@christianjosephtv Hi, thanks for getting in touch/. Yes, the M-Audio Axiom MK2 series works with Logic Pro as well as other popular music production software.
@Geo6723uk Ableton makes it real easy to MIDI map controllers. With that in mind it's about options at that point. The new Axiom MK2 sports a few more controls which might come in handy. There are also Ableton maps you can download fro the MK2.
@jl183672 Hi, thanks for your question. You can use the keys and pads to play instruments and drum samples but the faders and knobs aren't mappable as this is a limitation of Garageband. Hope this helps.
@jl183672 The sounds don't come from the Axiom, it's a controller. This means that it links up with your DAW (Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton, FL Studio, Reason, etc..) and plays the sounds housed within your virtual instruments and samplers. It triggers the sounds rather than producing them like a synthesizer would. Hope this helps.
@jl183672 I see. The sounds won't be limited on Garageband. You'll be able to play any instrument via the controller. Let me know if this answers your question.
i'm realy hessitant with buying m-audio products so i must ask this because i see no reaplys for fl studio, will it work with fl studio9? and if so does it come with a drivers?
@LeanDreMPeters Hi, thanks for getting in touch. The M-Audio Axiom MK2 does in fact work with FL Studio. Let us know if you end up using it on your productions. Be great to get some feedback on it's use with FL Studio. From what we've seen and read out there it seems to be fully functional.
@MinecraftJabaar Yes. You can also download free music production software such as Adobe's Audacity and Reaper to start practicing right away. Just google the names and you'll come up on their site. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with.
@mrfayfay7 Hi. the M-Audio Axiom is a MIDI keyboard controller which means it triggers sounds withing your software (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, etc) as opposed to a synth, for examples, which comes with on-board sounds.
@Duci1990 ok the 1st thing is the play and stop buttons 2nd is direct input or maby i just dont know how to use them lol i also have this problem with reason but with reason i know how 2 set up the play and stop
Can you use pro tools on a synthesizer as well? Rather than using pro tools on a controller I mean. Because then you would have both the sounds from pro tools And the synthesizer too right? Which method do you recommend for recording music and getting it on to cds?
I was going to buy this midi controller but I fear the dreaded blue screen of death issue. There have been several reports about it happening on 2nd gen too. I went for a novation sl mkii instead, and well I don't use Pro Tools (at least not yet). But other than that I agree this keyboard is good quality.
thnks for making this video i have had a axiom for lyk three months now and did not know it was capable of doing all dis i was gna buy a diffrent one dat i thought was better but dis do the exact same thing thnks again
@whayss I have not seen of felt any problems with the keys. To me the Axioms keys are some of the best out there. What were the problems you had with the first gen?
@EPH0u5eMu5ic It is almost the same. The lay out is different and in my opinion better. It is easier to grab your knobs/sliders if you are doing some live tweaking. Sliders and knobs feel better and the LCD screen being placed right in the center is great you know exactly what you tweaking. If you are happy with the PRO use that for now.
i use m-powered pro tools 7.4 with my axiom 49 gen 1 and a fast track pro. would u recommend that i connect the axiom using a midi cable to the fast track pro or should i just use plug and play
@destinedwolf For me I just plug and play (usb) and it works fine for me. I highly doubt there will be any differences in performace but then again I have never tried (because things worked out fine through usb). If you have a midi cable laying around give it a shot and see if there are any differences. A reason why you might want to do that is if you need that usb slot for something else.
@ajilovegirls As far as the maudio website says no it is not. But I think that is for the direct link mode which does everything automatically for you. You can definilty use the axiom as a midi controller and most likely manually map out the transport controls/encoder knobs/faders.
@DJLBPRODUCTIONS Yes you can use maschine with pro tools as a plug in. Traktor I dont think so. With traktor you can record your session inside traktor and then import the finished session/mix into pro tools for mixing/sweetening. You can use traktors fx inside pro tools with the kontact player.

Damn that's real cool, my MK1 61 key axiom's USB jack just started messin up this week, Sent it in for repairs... Hoping they fix it cause apparently they don't make the MK1 anymore, Woulda be kinda cool if I got an MKII as replacement though haha :D
I went to play this model at BestBuy musical instruments. Overall, it didnt feel much different than the older models in my honest opinion. What's you guys take?
The drum pads on the Axiom MK2 series are the Trigger Finger pads. They're velocity sensitive and sport a low profile on the face of the unit. We had a chance to test it out for a few days and the response felt great.
This model seems to be different from previous ones. The older ones have the LCD all the way to the left while this one is in the middle. This one is also has the MKll at the end. I am wondering if this is the only difference or if there is something else that has changed.
lol..he's so short...lol @ the way he looks up at the other dude...i was waiting for the other dude to tap on his head like "good job lil man..good job"
No the difference is the price, the pro model has a nice LCD screen which allows u to see many more parameters and options. And they are both made completely different with different parts. Sooooo... U tell me wut the difference is
@dmoates420 Just to added to this the whole lay out of the keyboard is much better. Performing live or in the studio everything is much easier to see and use. Every move you make will show up on the lcd screen and whatever the name is of the track or parameter will show up on the lcd as well. I have the older model and I definitly feel the newer models are a step above in every aspect.

is pro tools compatible with maschine and traktor?
DJLBPRODUCTIONS 1 year ago
@DJLBPRODUCTIONS Yes you can use maschine with pro tools as a plug in. Traktor I dont think so. With traktor you can record your session inside traktor and then import the finished session/mix into pro tools for mixing/sweetening. You can use traktors fx inside pro tools with the kontact player.
Hope that helped out.

I went to play this model at BestBuy musical instruments. Overall, it didnt feel much different than the older models in my honest opinion. What's you guys take?

the drum pad are the same as the old version? or they are improved...
mproductionsmusik 1 year ago
Hi @mproductionsmusik
The drum pads on the Axiom MK2 series are the Trigger Finger pads. They're velocity sensitive and sport a low profile on the face of the unit. We had a chance to test it out for a few days and the response felt great.

I had 2 Axiom 49's and they both CRASHED... The blue screen of Death... I hope this model holds up..

This model seems to be different from previous ones. The older ones have the LCD all the way to the left while this one is in the middle. This one is also has the MKll at the end. I am wondering if this is the only difference or if there is something else that has changed.

And the pro has no drivers either. If u get a Mac u won't need drivers for anything.
dmoates420 1 year ago
No the difference is the price, the pro model has a nice LCD screen which allows u to see many more parameters and options. And they are both made completely different with different parts. Sooooo... U tell me wut the difference is
dmoates420 1 year ago
@dmoates420 Just to added to this the whole lay out of the keyboard is much better. Performing live or in the studio everything is much easier to see and use. Every move you make will show up on the lcd screen and whatever the name is of the track or parameter will show up on the lcd as well. I have the older model and I definitly feel the newer models are a step above in every aspect.
