  • the squid is not evil...OZYMANDIAS IS THE EVIL ONE MOTHE######

  • In the comic book, there were dead people all over the place, all piled on each other. It was shocking. I can't see why that was taken away from the movie.

  • I know where you are coming from, that the squid would be very important to the ending. But I think they pulled it off, by getting the same idea across at the ending in a different way. As in, we won't have world peace til we are on the edge of destorying ourselves. Which is absurd enough. And people wouldn't just boo the screen and walk out when they saw a squid. You know what I'm saying? It wouldn't have translated very well in movie form.

  • so there was literately a giant squid in the novel... thats kinda gay... and y is there a giant squid???

  • @wfcxtoxic Read the fucking graphic novel and you'll find out.

  • @wfcxtoxic because it's so retarded, it's genius.

  • lol the squid is in. the project that veidt and manhattan are working on is called S.Q.U.I.D. (Sub-Quantum Unifying Intrinsic Device).

  • I noticed that

  • when did you get your brasses? when will they be coming off?

  • The squid would have ruined the movie for me..

  • agree...they did a good job

  • one more question: in the movie, when Rorschach discovers the location of the kidnapped girl, are those scratch marks he comes across underneath the knife cabinet.

  • I HAVE NOT READ THE COMIC....could someone please explain the F_cking squid to me PLEEEAAASE!

  • read the comic

  • SPOILER ALERT

basically, to avoid nuclear war a character named veidt hires artists to design the squid and genetic engineers to create the squid and then using a machine made by dr.manhatan to teleport it to new york city and per its designs as soon as it is teleported it dies and releases a psycic energy wave that kills half the people in new york thus making the people of earth think there was an alien attack and all of the world banding togather to fight the aliens

  • @shenron14 That sounds so Retarded

  • @codafett when written down like that it does but through the wonder that is Watchmen it becomes one of the most amazing twist endings in history

  • @shenron14 Well i don't know, But I woulda prefered to see like after Rorscachs Death, Nite Owl and Spectre fight the squid as its destroying New York, and just as their about to die Dr.Manhattan arrives and sacrifices himself to kill it, so half the City is dead and Viedt makes everyone think he is the cause and escaped, so the world trys to kill/find him so they have to make peace and work together. Its perfect.

  • @shenron14 CONT, Plus I know its supposed to be a dark and realistic movie but a little Heroics wouldn't hurt.

  • The squid is the ultimate weapon Adrian used to kill millions of people. Its a giant monster like creature

  • the squid was just a monster that was made by adrian to destroy parts of new york. it had a human brain so it could be brought to life.

    thats all i know

  • the ending is BULLSHIT

    hitler yelling

    NO just BULLSHIT

  • i agree with your views. keep up these videos, but justify your views. that would make it best.

  • Film made sense. A giant squid would have ruined it for me.

  • I can think of loads of things that would cause instantiations world peace! universal disarmament would do it. not as cool granted but it would still work as well as a giant squid attack!

  • f*ck squid ! the movie was good

  • You cannot seriously have deluded yourself into thinking the squid was clever or well thought out.

The movie resolution was vastly cleverer.

  • whys your nose and lips black?

  • dude are u gay?

  • if you lean back a bit i bet i can see your brain

  • the fucking squid is a big part in the Watchmen. It kills almost every new yorker! What the hell did replace the squid with!?

  • They replaced it with a giant explosion that the government blames on Dr. Manhattan. Ozymandias created a machine with Manhattan's help, unbeknownst to Jon that he would use it for destruction.

  • the squid in the movie was just s.q.u.i.d.

and whats up with ozymandias costume it did not resemble at all

  • I guess the Purple costume would make Ozymandias look like not such a bad guy??? Instead they make him dark, there for evil.

  • what race are you

    never seen anything like it

  • Ah, the brilliance of Watchmen. The deeper you think about it the better it gets

  • Man, you'r nostrils are huge.

  • He has big nostrils because he has big fingers.......

  • if i was a super hero my name would be the squid

  • mine would be rorschach.

  • Ozomandias plan is to create an ALIEN SQUID that is teleported to the major cities aroud the world causing all nations to unite against aliens. Then A kid reaches to Rorschach journal that tells the reveals Ozomandias plan. "It is never Over" Dr Manhattan

  • I think the ending was great

  • I read the comic book before seeing the movie, and I like both endings. Of course, I prefer the ending in the comic, and I love that whole concept.

But if i were to see a giant, brightly colored, comic book looking, SQUID on the IMAX screen, I would probably have laughed. It just wouldn't translate to the film. They had to change the ending in some way to make it believable and make it fit with the rest of the movie. They did the best they could. They followed the comic as close as possible.

  • The Squid is the single most important image in Watchmen.

Without it you have no chance of unravelling the story's riddle.

Google WATCHMEN UNMASKED for the Secret of the Squid.

Alan Moore Rocks your feeble World !!!

  • Stop posting the same fucking comment on every Watchmen related video!!!

  • 2) It was teleported to New York using an imperfect method of teleportation which caused the space it was about to occupy to explode violently, obliterating anything that was there before, causing the deaths of many New Yorkers. Thus; there would be a gigantic alien looking creature surrounding a completely obliterated city, with millions dead. Enough to strike fear into even the enemies of America; if it could just suddenly and quickly destroy a city like that, it could happen to anyone.

  • To clear things up, the Squid wasn't just a squid.

It was a Genetically-Created Psychic Gigantic Alien Squid.

    1) It was built with the brain of a human Psychic, which was encoded with depressing messages and images from the world's foremost Artists and Writers whom Ozymandias had captured and later, killed. It would ensure a feeling of panic and despair, giving "sensatives around the world nightmares for years to come".

  • yup

in the book there is the alternative ending with the giant alien-squid thing

    i didnt really get it

did the squid kill half of NY

I didnt read the ending of the book

i only saw the pictures of the sqiud lying on top of dead bodies

  • O_o

    It's not the alternative ending.

    It's THE ending.

  • eh

    watever

  • true dat

  • After seeing the movie. Squid or no squid that was just a horrible movie.

  • Come on - the squd is 20 years old and was never going to happen. It a pice of shit - not billiant. It's like V for Vendetta - it only fucking works inb a commics.Grow fucking up you motherruckers.

  • Moron. He pissed over all the source Material, Zack Snyder is a hjack piece of shit. This movie sucked balls.

  • well i mean... all sarcasm aside... what would happen if the world actually experienced an alien invasion? we would literally have no choice but fight world vs world. thats... called unity.

  • the squid works because it sparks fear in every person in the world... no one can point a finger at someone else, they are forced to put aside their hatred and differences and worked together. and thats the sad part. the only way to achieve world peace, is to scare the fuck out of everyone with something they cant explain.

  • my god this is the most genius thing to do ever. blow up detroit with a nuke and put a giant alien squid in it.

  • i am so disappointed now

  • your nose is huge when watching this video all i could look at was you nose and your teeth do your have braces.YOUR NOSE IS HUGE PLEASE GO VISIT MICHAEL JACKSON !!!!! i hate yourr face and you voice and you

  • He instead blows up sections of a few random cities across the planet and frame Manhattan. Why did they change it? BECAUSE A GIANT SQUID IS FUCKING STUPID

  • Actually, New York is destroyed by a squid in BOTH versions of the Watchmen.

    ***SPOILER***

the device that Adrian uses to frame Dr. Manhattan is called a Sub-Quantum Unifying Intrinsic Device, S-Q-U-I-D, HAHA

  • didn't Ronald Reagan say once that if the USSR & USA had a common enemy like space aliens then they would help each other fight off space aliens?

  • who made the squid to?

  • to be honest huge fan of the comic and movie but i didnt get the squid ending i think its was to far of stretch i liked the movie ending better a little bit more real

  • Same here, though I think it makes a tad more sense now.

  • Bro, you should look up the term "adaptation", also peruse "dramatic license". It's not fair to judge it for not doing something the book did. That's why the book exists.

  • hey i saw the movie, and what was comic book ending for the watchmen

  • Bigsquid being the reason earth made piece and not Doc Manhattan

  • The comic book ending was too long to explain but a giant alein squid arrives and destroys half the planet

  • I still enjoyed the movie, although I believe an extra-terrestrial ending (DIDNT HAVE TO BE A SQUID!!) would have been more powerful than the film ending.

    Just my 2 cents

  • the project is still called squid. It even says on the screen "project S.Q.U.I.D."

  • It was awesome, they did what they had to do to make it work climatically and it turns out being a much "cleaner" story, pulls it in and makes more sense. Now everyone can enjoy this legendary story as a cinematic masterpiece.

  • Yeah, no. Much "cleaner" story is your opinion. The ending of the story, IS THE ENDING OF THE STORY, change it, and it is NOT the same story.

  • "cinematic masterpiece." you simply dont know film making.

  • The fact of the matter is THEY DID IT what millions said was completely impossible to adapt to screen they did, and without blinded bias its a damn good movie. You should just let go of your qualms and enjoy it because they will NEVER make another one. No sequels, no remakes. THAT'S IT so enjoy it, or forever live you life frumpy at a movie that was done well. It doesn't have to be just like the book, no movie is. deal with it.

  • I did enjoy it and who knows they might make a sequel. I'm not bashing the film I'm just saying you dont know what cinematic masterpiece is and Watchmen is not it.

  • Well put.

  • agreed.

  • another reason I like this ending, is it actually gives manhatten a perpuse in this movie. otherwise, it would have just been like, "hey, theres like a supre powerd god guy on this show.......he was in vietnam.........hes lost touch with humanity and left......wasnt that exciting!!!???

  • I actually like both endings so I cant complain either way.

I also think manhatten serves the same purpose as he did in the novel with or without the new ending: A living embodiment of the nuclear threat(age), a walking examination in quantum physics and the impending loss of humanity due to his lack of linear perception.

I could be wrong again but I see him having much more significance in the Watchmen story than eX-vietnam weapon with no emotions.

  • Who cares, the bastard is dead and as soon as the rest of you white trash niggers die the better for the rest of this world. You Mongrols have fucked this country as well as other countries up. I get anxious waiting for your filth, killing, lying, deception and confused asses to reap what you have sown!

  • I.....seriously.......seriously.....how no fucken idea how a giant fucken squid makes sense for a world peace maker. I mean honestyl. in the real world, If a giant fucken squid showed up, wed probly start a war just to see, I dont know, who could capture it and make it into a super war weapon or something. in no way can I see the appearance of a random giant squid leading to world peace.

  • @me301, I dont know about you skippy.but if a giant squid shows up THE LAST THING ON MY MIND is picking a fight with my neighbor. Ofcourse not everyone would react the same but those would be the ones used as squid feed.

  • I'm not talking about the the people in the same place as the squid. I'm talking about our enamies like russia who are gunna turn on the tv and say, "Borris, look at television. Capitalist bastards of America are made to be eaten by a squid. We should now have party!" not "oh no!!! the captalist dogs are being made dead! we should morn for them, and work to make world peace."

  • @me301, I wasnt talking just about the people at the same place as the squid either "skippy". Im betting any politically fueled animosity to the US takes a back seat to HUMAN self preservation when that giant squidbilly is spotted on World Wide T.V. Cause you gotta think...once its down with the "capitilist dogs" and our "party is over"(lol)...who's that squid coming after next?

I could be wrong but I think Alan was on to something with the whole shock and awe causing world piece.

  • dude, whats up with this skippy buisiness? I don't know, it just seems to me that in a movie where its been pretty consinst in realism throughout (barring the blue god man lol) the appearance of a giant squid alien would kinda ruin the mood. Maby it worked in the comic, but it just wouldnt work as well with the film. I'm pretty sure shock and awe was accomplished just fine by blowing up several major cities simultaiously.

  • you obviously havnt read the comic...

  • nope. i sure havn't. And thats part of my point. I have a totally un biased opinion, and I liked the ending. I din't walk into the theater with crazy fanboy expectations. I just sat down and watched a movie. and I loved it.

  • yeah and thats really great. now i will admit most of the movie stayed true to comic. But people have been wating for this movie for like 10+ years. We expected to see an authentic straight from the comic movie adaptation. Now i can understand you saying whats the whole fuzz with the squid, but thats a key element to the story. It would be like taking out voldermort from the last harry potter film and replacing it with some random charecter. It just wouldnt be the same.

  • I gues....I don't know. I plan on getting ahold of the comic the next time I'm in a book store so maby I can understand more. but my point is still that it works well as a stand alone, if you don't relate it to the comic.

  • Comment removed

  • Seriously It Makes More Sense FOR THE MOVIE If The Squid Was Suddenly In The Movie I Would Be Like WTF! Where The Hell Did Tht Come From BUT Manhattan Left So Whts The Enemy If He Left? A Squid Would Make The US and Soviet Not Go To A War Longer Because Manhattan isnt Even There Anymore

  • Seriously? Did you even fucking read the comic? Shut the fuck up dude wow, That comment proves it, The brain thing veidt made was made to look like an alien...The brain was used to bring them together because they thought their planet was under attack blaming it on manhattan was a shitty as ending they pulled out of their ass i was pissed when i saw it and it ruined the whole fucking movie for me

  • Oh shiieet shiiet my bad commented the wrong person meant to say it to the asshole ontop of you my baadd

  • i think the squid didn't make sense in the context of new audiences. Ithouth the cold war and everything.

It seems to be ridiculous if you put that in the screen at this time.

  • The think the ending of the movie was a bit "unconvincing". Still, great movie.

  • personally i love the novel but the ending to the movie for me was even more satisfying.........only because it is that much more of an inner termoil for the heroes to overcome.........but hey thats just me

  • ****WARNING MINOR SPOILERS*****

I was confused why the ending had to change at all. They could have done with less Nixon and put the whole alien subplot in instead. Blaming everything on Doctor Manhattan is a super cheap cop-out method, it seems like.

It seems like the genetic engineering subplot makes MORE sense today with cloning and stem cell research as realities. Why that decision was made, I have no idea, and kudos to Alan Moore for having the foresight to dissociate from it.

  • WTF? After all that shit about "This book can never be made into a movie." When they have a chance to get it right, they change the fucking ending. make no fucking sense. so many loose knots without the fucking squid. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • rorschach was played extre,ly well, dr. manhattan too. But silk spectre II was well.... pathetic, especially in the mars scene

  • just like mine!

  • I think this kid is 1/4 black.

  • Let us just hope they get it right in the dvd

  • fuck the graphic "it's not a comic book, something better and deeper!" novel shit, it's a comic book, the best one though!

  • Also what was needed was for Veidt to wittingly reply "I already did it 35 minutes ago", cause seriously, that's ridiculously bad ass.

  • didn't he?

  • he did. Was just saying I literally marked out when he said it. And if he didn't say it, would've totally been lame.

  • From what I've seen in the trailers, I think that the feared nuclear war starts but dr. manhattan reverses time(because he's a former watch maker) and people reaize that if they went on fighting then they would kill each other.

  • I think you are lying and havent read the GN, anyone that has trully read it would know what the squid is. Its part of a very vital moment in the GN so how you could have read it and dont know what it is seems false.

  • okay. i overlooked the last chapter and saw some tentacles. So tht is the squid correct me if im wrong. I dont think it would be such a big deal to take it out though.

  • Holy shit, dude, You said you read the Graphic Novel...and now you said you overlooked it? You fucking poser.

  • Mental. Did you skip through the comic so you could say you read it? Because if you actually read it you'd understand why the squid is needed.

  • The squid ISN'T needed though. What's NEEDED is for New York (in the movie it goes a little overboard in including Moscow, Hong Kong, and Beijing aswell) to be blown sky high, and for there to be a common enemy for the whole world to unite against in the greater name of peace. Both of those are still in the movie. As such, Snyder kept that, he just ditched the squid cause to be fair, it was rather unpractical for a movie. Also just watched the movie. Pretty good, unless you're an uber-fanboy.

  • The cool thing about the novel is that it was written in 1986 and we now have the technology to genetically engineer freaky shit. It was the whole idea that there is all sorts of technology out there being developed beyond civilian knowlege and what if it is used against us to trick us. I bet Zack was payed to take that idea out. I bet there are people in the government who would not like the masses thinking about weather or not a fake alien invasion or fake jesus is something to worry about.

  • it is already done. they can't change it. they started filming long time ago

  • i think it should be a big UFO spaceship with a laser blast not a squid. that would work on film

  • Seriously? The fact that it NEEDS to be a giant squid dooms the movie. It can't be an artificially modified alien-esque humanoid?

That seems more rational, yet still is insane enough to make people believe in aliens thus fulfillng the plot. I'm sure they can think of something.

  • Is the squid really that important? No, its not. Its the action behind

Ozy that counts. They could still have an alien twist with it, just not the squid.

  • well, it's not just that.. ignoring the book completely, it makes no sense that the smartest man on earth would try to make world peace by having the US's greatest defense kill millions in its own country

  • I think that the way it will happen now is that the world will now be united in fear for causing war thinking that Dr. Manhattan can destroy them at any time.

  • yeah and for some reason all these watchmen purists are freaking out and are saying this movie shouldn't have been made just because the ending is different. they should view the movie and the book seperatley

  • Exactly. I don't exactly want Snyder to do everything exactly the same to please every watchmen wankfan. If he makes a good film out of it and gets people to read the book then he's done good.

  • Actually it makes perfect sense. Because he's feared even by his own side. The film is nevertheless highly entertaining and well worth seeing.

  • i heard that Zack Snyder and Dave Gibbons are the ones who wrote the ending of the Watchmen movie. They said that it is different, but the same idea. idk, but the ending has to be good! The squid makes the Watchmen!

  • THIS IS BULL!!!! What the heck were they thinking? I agree with the people who say that taking off the squid makes everything different. You guys should go read the book again, cause obviously you don't remember what is the point of the monster!!! Crap. They changed the ending for what, exactly? And why did the writer let them do it? Are they going to blame John for it? This is sooooo crappy! Unbelievable.

  • im gonna wait till i see it before i decide anything. it could be brill. or it could be rubbish

  • I would agree with replacing Veidt's over-the-top plan with something more plausable. I was a little stupified that a book as realistic as Watchmen ended with a giant enemy squid.

  • Right now, it looks like it's all the same up until the squid itself's presence. Same story, same ending, no big squishy monster.

  • Except it can't be the same...EVERYTHING revolves around that squid. That's why the Comedian was killed in the first place...If you change the squid you change the whole damn story

  • so what did the Comedian see to start the whole story?

  • he stumbled across ozymandias' plan, i believe the last chapter explains it all.

  • no you dumb fuck, he means what did the comedian see in zack snyders version of the story.

  • well, in case you hadnt noticed, the movie hasnt come out yet, YOU dumb fuck.

  • he sees his plan.....just like in the book. Except the plan doesn't involve a giant squid, it involves converting Dr. Manhattan's alternative energy generator thing into a super nuke.

  • Ok...

If some explosion occurs and it's blamed on Jon, but he leaves the galaxy, then there is no common existential threat for the world to unite against. There was a lot of info in the book about the extradimensional research that was going on, the possibility of exploring new dimensions which was setting us up for the squid. If there is no terrible other dimension to unite against, then what difference would it make? None.

  • the new ending is Ozymandias makes a machine that has the same powers of Dr. Manhatten and it sets of bombs off around the world, WHICH SUCKS

  • ehhh you got it half right. from what ive read (trustged sources) The "machine" was actually an alternative fuel generator Manhattan and ozzy built together, and he reconverts it into a death beam to frame Dr. Manhattan. Dr. Manhattan allows himself to be framed, and then leaves to another galaxy after the deed is done.

  • squid =/= ending

  • i honestly agree, but the dr. manhattan ending does make sense more than you think, its sort of less unexpected and out there, and honestly less creative, but it does make sense, it gives the people of the world(in the story) something that they know about to blame, instead of a mysterious thing that no one would know anything about

  • Okay, why did this have to happen? Without the squid, nothing would make sense! I'm guessing at least 1 of the people on set of the movie has actually read the book. If there is, then that man needs to get a bat, go to Zack Snyder, and tell him to put it in! (yeah, innuendo, haha) I don't if they have to delay it more times than SSBB, WE WANT THAT FUCKING SQUID!

  • everyone on set was required to read the book

  • Sure doesn't sound like it

  • I don't understand why directors feel the need to make a better breadbox when it comes to adaptations. The original storyline is what made Watchmen such a masterpiece. Why change it? I thought the same thing when I watched I Am Legend. These unnecessary changes almost always weaken an outstanding premise.

  • I completely agree. If Watchmen's ending was "flawed" then why is it still praised as one of the greatest graphic novels of all time? Winning a Hugo Award, and on Time Magazine's list of 100 best BOOKS in the 20th century?

Does anyone think that Zack Snyder's ideas are going to be superior to Alan Moore's? From everything I have seen, heard and know, Snyder is simplifying EVERYTHING so it is easier to understand (and therefore, DULL). He relies on visuals to make it interesting, not themes.

  • i was so looking forward to the movie.... till i finished the book. There aint no way a 2hr movie is gonna work. This is only a film for people who have already read the comics.

It will be interesting watching the reactions of people in the cinema who aint got a fudging clue. Especially when the squid shows up (yes i think the ending will be in)

  • I agree, the Watchmen Motion comics are 30 minutes a chapter which comes to a total of 6 HOURS! and they cut out all the written documents like Under the Hood, as well as some line, and it is still 6 HOURS!

6 Hours of ESSENTIAL material cut down into 2 1/2 hours??? = IMPOSSIBLE.

  • The current cut of the film is 2 hours and 45 minutes. There will be a 4-hour DVD version released.

And Snyder himself has confirmed that there will be no squid.

  • god dammit watchmen fanfboy faggots grow a pair! they changed the ending. actually reply if youve seen a special screening because YOU DONT KNOW WAT IT IS CHANGED TO. i thought the squid was the stupidous thing ever. i was addicted to the watchmen until that part and then i picked at the rest over the course of 2 months b/c i thought it was the most retarded thing in the plot. dont get me wrong, i love the watchmen and will not care if they screw up the ending. suck it up faggots.

  • "i thought the squid was the stupidous thing ever"...

Firstly, "stupidous" is not a fucking word, so you are clearly a dumbass. You are also dissing the comic, so you are not a fan. And anyone who says "faggots" that many times is probably a closet homosexual. So just shut the fuck up and stop embarrassing yourself.

  • v for vendetta movie sucked dick. i hope watchmendosent suffer the same fate

  • No squid means no feasible story structure. The squid has moral implications, not just plot based functions.

He's worried that someone seen as a good guy turning out to be a bad guy would confuse audiences, but that's the friggin' point. It's supposed to mess with your head and question your morals. Watchmen's defining attribute is getting people to think abstractly. I know most of the small minded drones in my area wouldn't get it, but the comfort of the masses is not worth ruining the plot.

  • The person behind the squid (won't give it away here) will still be responsible for the loss of millions of lives, and bring peace because of a lie. It just won't be the squid. It will be a different disaster.

  • We just can't get a perfect adaptation of anything can we?! They can just CG the squid. It's the 2000's. We're capable of such effects!

  • Who does this clown think he is, never read a book or studied any literature at all??? The entire point of the "squid" creature in question is make it evident that "we" collective have extra terrestrial enemies, and the common human factor and the point of how simplistic humans are in the primal reaction that the enemy of my enemy is my friend! You may hate a sibling with a passion but if someone outside your family says anything bad about them your first reaction is in defense of the sibling.

  • scifi is great and all

but im still an alien skeptic to this day

  • I always hated the squid, i thought it was stupid and took me right out of an otherwise great read. But now that I hear this, I'm not sure what to think, I mean... isn't this betraying the source material? I think its a dangerous idea, I hate it when studios go against the fans and original themes.

  • Yeah, exactly.

I found the squid a little bit... awkward, but after reading the novel a couple of times and watching this video, it really does tie the entire thing together. It's so essential to the book.

  • The main thing I'm wondering is.. If there's no squid for The Comedian to discover, why was he murdered? And the whole part when he's breaking down saying "I thought I was the Comedian but this joke, I just don't get it."

I guess we'll have to wait 'til the film comes out. I still think it's going to be a faithful adaption to the comic from what I've seen.

  • Oh my god, stop bitching about no squid! You fanboys want every fucking thing to be perfect. The movie looks like a perfect adaption, so get over it.

  • But then again there might be a chance of a peasing ending. Think about it. The Squid would be to Over the top to be in film form (The graphic novel can get away with it, not the movie) and that whole Manhatten end (that would be shit) so I think they should go modern like a alien drug bomb/beam launched from a satelite or the island destroying New York and making people believe there is an invasion. You know crazy, absurd and mad enough for fans but modernised and beleivable enough for viewers.

  • I think they Snyder was swaying towards the movie people with this decision

  • Guess they felt the average movie goer would'nt take it seriously. But I know for sure those who have'nt read the book and probably won't will like this movie anyway.

  • Here's what it boils down to...

Squid ending = the defining humanity unifying event.

Dr. Manhattan causing and fleeing = Worldwide anti-American sentiment/blame - which could lead to war anyway.

Conclusion: Snyder blows. Honestly, 300 directed itself, literally. Plus, he's on to direct a 300 sequel?? F U!

Comic fans put their faith in man who feigned being one of us cuz w/o the OG ending, the message won't work. He just ruined the most celebrated graphic novel of our time.

  • No squid?

    NO SQUID?!

    HOW'S THAT MAKE SENSE?!

  • This is a bunch of BULLL SHIIIIIIIIIIT

    They need the squid.

  • I WANT THE GOD DAMN SQUID!

  • I doesn't matter HOW the squid was bioengineered, it's not a freakin' science textbook, it's what the squid represented which was a previously unheard of and possibly unstoppable threat. When the squid was unleashed it gave the people in proximity extreme visions of an alien invasion which when related would allow the world to see this threat as their worst nightmare and thus bond the world in defense against the invasion. It seems laying it on Dr. Manhattan would just lead to more bickering.

  • I dunno. Upon reading I found the reasoning kind of weird. Wouldn't everyone assume, it's just some creature from the sea instead of immediatelly jumping to the conclusion it's an alien attack? If Synder found a good way around it, it might enchance the feeling that this is a realistic superhero adaptation. The comic tried to go for it (superheroes in the real world), but the squid does indeed distrupt the image. And I know, that many fans won't agree with me. It's my opinion, sry.

  • remember the squid emitted psychic messages to everyone in range that showed images of an alien invasion and war.

  • True, I give you that, but I find the idea even more offputing of the whole concept of superheroes in reality. But you are right, I forgot that. Nevertheless, I always found the squid too much to fit the reality of the 20s. I could understand Manhatten, he was just another powerfull hero in a cast of heroes representing power in diffrent ways, but I don't really have a big problem with Snyder getting rid of the squid. If he can transport the theme of the comic I'd be more then happy.

  • Watchmen is set in the 80's, not 20's, im not sure what u ment to say there, but i assume you noe its in the 80's. Also, the squid being so out there and weird is kind of the point, like the only thing that can bring world peace is a giant mutant squid, but it REALLY is not important to the overall story how the explosion happens, i think Ozzy getting away with it at the end is way more important, and im also fine wiht the changed ending if all the themes remaiin.

  • Yeah, I ment the 20th century, since the whole thing stretches over a longer period then just the 80s. And I don't agree with your opinion on squid, but that's okay.

  • it is in the 80s DUSH FAG:( SQUID NEEDS TO STAY AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
