LOL i was in Borgagta AC and i seen some short guy in a wig, dark sunglasses, and fake mustache walk by me. It was so bizarre. I can only assume he was someone banned for cheating...
blackjack is all luck.. counting cards only worked when casinos used 2 decks.. casinos use around 8 decks now.. it dont take a genius to count cards in 2 decks..
@RAPHUSSLEMONEY It's not really any harder to count eight decks than two. It's just that dealing more decks reduces the effectiveness of card counting.
Whatever movie this is based on, the misrepresentation is just HIDEOUS.
For example, at 6:20 they have Uston say "good players can run down a double deck and win 4 out of 5 hands". Now that there is utter bullshit.
The best blackjack players are still expected to lose more hands than they win, but the best players will know when to bet higher or bet lower so that they win more of their big bets. They can still get wiped out short-term though.
its not based on a movie, its based off ken ustons life, and yeah its gonna have mistakes because its bio, there not really into all the details, just as much as they can get, i would be surprised if they got EVERY SINGLE DETAIL right,
The problem is they just misphrased it. What they really mean is that in a certain double deck scenario for card counters, the odds of leaving the table with a winning session(after 30-60 minutes of play) is 4 times out of 5. It's not talking about the frequency of hands won. They're talking about risk of ruin.
About all I can say for the movie "21" is that it exists.
As an actual portrayal of life in the MIT counting team or any counting team it was pretty flaky. And as for counters getting beaten up, that only happened a couple of times and the casinos (most notably Binion's Horseshoe) were sued by the assaulted players and ended up with massive negative exposure and had to pay the victims.
Being a full time card counter is a very tough job. Not worth abandoning a job that pays then $42,500 (NOT $50,000) a year and his family! So why was he with that sexy lady if he was married?
Even if they did make a movie on Ken Uston, chances are Hollywood would've messed it up! 21 was messed up because they threw in a lot of false details, lied about what happened to the Mit Blackjack Team, etc!
I agree! My father wrote some incredible books AND a screenplay based on the Big Player. After his death I wrote a screenplay and am planning on making this movie!!!
Nowapowa: Thanks for uploading this video. I think I have seen this show about 3 times on "The History Channel". They constantly show it. This guy is somebody I look up to. He left everything behind, even his family, (which I won't say was good), but made his dream come true. He left his suit-job in wall street, or whatever it was, to make millions by "breaking Vegas"! Amazing!
The E! Entertainment Channel is airing a show this weekend, 6/13 & 14, called :THS Investigates Las Vegas, Winners and Losers." There is a segment on Ken Uston....check it out.

Card counting no longer works in the real world casino. It assumes random cards which is a fallacy read more about it
Check our site our for more information on non random cards and how casinos beat card counters hands down

They should have made a movie about Uston, instead of the MIT team movie that is coming out with Kevin Spacey.
