  • "Well, as through this world I've rambled

I've seen lots of funny men.

Some will rob you with a six-gun

And some with a fountain pen"

    Woodie Guthrie

  • Why did you throw it away? There isn't a lock on earth that can't be picked by one method or another. Security is an ILLUSION, but it's an illusion that WORKS.

    You wasted a good lock.

  • Its ok dude your bike is a pos!

  • Why is John Lennon doing a video on bike locks?

  • 1906...funny I usually say19...effing prohibition when I refer to something old...got that from comedian Doug Stanhope

  • You know guys this is a trolling video. ;D

  • The only time in his life a bike thief will use a pen......

  • Waa 1906 he be died by noq

  • Cool sprout shirt man..

  • he said the year 1906....wtf ?

  • @quickman90 it was humour i believe

  • @quickman90

    he has a time machine

  • the pen is mightier than the sword again gooooo pen

  • @dieselanddymond if the pen is mightier then the sword why do people say that actions speak louder than words?

  • @Snakester789 the pen is mightier than the sword again because the companies that make these locks and sell them at ridiculous high prices to the consumer they might actually get the message as a everyday item that can be bought for small change can open a apparently tough item which is supposed to be secure from 99% of any interferance , most criminals use cutting tools where as a simple person can use a pen to open a secure lock , i hope you understand this reply.

  • @dieselanddymond touche, i get you :)

  • what lock isnt pickable!? so what does one do... just make the theives work harder to pick a lock, if they made them a bit more rubix cube like!! I dont know...."

  • wat a nerd

  • Thanks for not cursing man! and trip to Portland, Oregon lmao XD ProjectRant: Pretentious Hobos

  • I just hope you get all your bikes stolen for the rest of your life.

  • HAHAHAHAAHHA hilarious "AW DAMN IT... it worked." hahahaha

  • man nice bike behind you !

  • i hit mine with a hammer and it fell apart :L

  • good way of expressing how to crack open a ulock

  • oh shit man. I just got a new Trek Bike which I financed and a new job in NYC. I was planning on riding my bike to work but it seems like I will be taking the subway.

  • @sonofsam70 dude, they fixed the problems with these locks years ago, i dont know why this guy doesnt update the video

  • 1:53 > dissapointment

  • 1906? You sound more like a 60s or 70s guy to me. :P

Love the hip lingo though, man. Peace.

  • lol 1906 wtf?

  • well u should check the world records to see if ur the oldest man alive, went to college in 1906 and 102 years later ur still riding bikes

  • Superman couldn't do that...

  • I thought the company recalled all of these locks and replaced them with some sort of disc mechanism?

  • @Taud they did

  • @hurrhurrmurr so why is everyone still crying about it?

  • @Taud People like to cry about something, if they can. That and there are bound to be some people who are still selling the crappy old locks and the like. There'll still be some in circulation, but it's not like everyone will have gone to the effort of replacing their locks.

  • @hurrhurrmurr Yeah exactly, the company offered to replace them, those few morons who didnt send in for a replacement seem to be flooding these videos, I have a new krypt lock i bought this year, no problems what so ever, i even get the insurance money even tho im not in the united states, talked to their tech support, nice people, everyone here should give the new locks a chance i think, as i said no problems here and the tech support said if there was theyd replace it immediately

  • DAMN IT...it works

  • Black ink bic pens work better

  • I can tell you're from 1906. Back to the Future.... man.

  • looks like your still stuck in 1906.

  • What is John Lennon doing showing us how to pick bike locks? "All you need is love, er, a bic pen". Cool vid.

  • Fucking NErd

  • *Throws away lock, Latahh* Wait how were you in college in 19O6?

  • i have a new kryptonite lock and the key hole is nothing like that, it is small and deep (rofl) the new locks are all like this, the bic pen trick only works with old locks (1-2 years old) and that have the wide barrel hole.

  • @Oshtinpowers yeah, Kryptonite (and most of the other respectable lock manufacturers) haven't used the tubular key since the first video came out sometime around 2005.

  • LOL

  • 1906..lol

  • pause it at 2 min and 17 sec its so funny lol!

  • nice teaching every one how to steal bikes! Thanks ass

  • OMG PEOPLE WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!

This is clearly a FAKE, the lock was always open, he always have his finger next to the metal so it will be inside the base locker, and suddenly and in a misterious way just when he move his finger and put the locker in inverted position, IT BREAKS.

You really think that someone can break a kryptonite that easy???? I use a lot of them in my work and believe me, I work in a hell of a street surrounded of real thiefs and drugs trafic.... TRY TO USE YOUR BRAIN ¬¬

  • well there goes the Kryptonite pr job

  • this video is so fucking stuped i did not evan need to wathc the whole thaing i stoped when he got the pin stuck in the u lock i can brake one faster

  • id phone a cop if i saw this

  • how dumb can people be???? he said 1906 as being a joke... people are fucking idiots i swear, have no sense of humor at all. i feel bad for the people who actually believe he went to college around 1906

  • @Chuckcxr yea dude it's 2011... 2011 - 1906 = 105

  • @Gerbilinator

Not mastered the art of understanding sarcasm yet, I see?

  • @GhibliFan1 Not mastered the art of minding your business yet, i see?

  • @Gerbilinator

It's called a public forum, mate. If you don't want people to point out the error of your ways, don't bother posting.

  • @GhibliFan1 If i was talking directly to you ( which i am right now) i would have put @GhibliFan1. I clearly put @Chuckcxr ( Which is not you). And im not your mate.

  • @Gerbilinator

Not mastered the art of public forum debating yet, I see (as well as sarcasm)? Sucks to be you then! You know you can PM other youtube users, IF you don't want your comments being subject to public debate? Unfortunately for you, once you do post a *public* message, it is in the *public domain*...and open to debate by any and all who care to comment. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it... right about after learning to tie your your own shoe laces, no doubt. Cheerio, old chap.

  • @GhibliFan1 Come on, honestly. There is no possible way to tell if someone is being sarcastic or serious when reading text. Think about it.

  • Am I the only one that noticed he keeps claiming that lock is over 100 years old?

    1906???

    LOL fail

  • there junk evon the new stuff they just use a car jack on them to bust it open

  • 1:42 BAMM!!!!!

  • love it how you hillbillies just throw your bikes against ur cars

  • Comment removed

  • lol 1906? What are you a vampire? I didn't know kryptonite made locks 104 years ago.

  • i hope you got a better lock for your bike and thanks

  • This is the reason you lock your bike in a public place. The thief will have to take a little time to open the lock, and probably get self-conscious about all the people watching him commit a crime. Too bad nobody cares enough to walk up to a guy picking a lock and slap him around a little.

This won't stop guys from just casually popping off your wheels and chain, though.

  • aww. crap. it works.

  • Are saying 1906 to refer to 2006? Is that supposed to be hip?

    I am confused by you.

  • Kryptonite changed their lock style, they're still safe locks. This is a circular key, the new ones have flat keys that definitely dont fit a pen in it.

  • Dude is absolutely correct. I was skeptical. I lost my keys and had a spare kryptolock, and I didn't want to buy a new mount. SO, in order to remove the mount from my old lock I looked here for advice on how to open it. It took me about ten minutes, but I could see how one might get good at this. For now, I have another kryptolock without having to buy a new mount. BUT, when I have $30 to $50, a new lock CERTAINLY is in order. Another win for the pen.

  • nobody wants you pos bike

  • andy dick????????

  • Oh danmit!......it works>.> lol

  • Kryptonite had a program back in 2004 to replace the bic-pickable locks for free; I didn't pay a dime to replace my then-3-year-old lock, and I use it still today. So I think they're actually the _best_, most responsible brand. :-)

  • wat a nap ...................... xD

  • i don't think they make locks like that anymore

  • wow

  • craptonite

  • lol. U-Lock fail...

  • 1906?

  • you made so long hour to open this lock. This means is safe!!

  • 1906

  • This worked! Thank you SO much! We were going to have to wait hours for the PD to cut the lock off, however we didn't have to go through the hassle. At first we didn't think it would work because nothing was happening, however all of a sudden - it just did! Yahoo! thank you again!!!!

  • that wont work on the current Kryptonite or Onguard ulocks, they dont use round keys anymore. they use a weird new flat key thats different from a house key

  • Why the fuck is this a featured video YouTube?

This problem was rectified several years ago with a MASSIVE recall of ALL the affected locks............. fuck sake.

  • Krap Ive lost my Kryptonite key today and I want to go ride the fire breathing Dragon...

  • You would be arrested in 1 minute lol

  • Kryptonite quit making locks with the barrel-type keys precisely because someone realized they were too easy to pick. I still use my old one, but intend on replacing it with a better one soon. I've found that a good deterrent to thieves is to find a 20+ year old bike made by a decent bike manufacturer (e.g. Trek, Fuji, etc.) that is in good mechanical condition but has the "beat up" look to it. That way, thieves won't be attracted to the bike and won't get close enough to see the junky lock.

  • lol 1906

  • keep the key you ken hack enader lock

  • 1906 hey

  • If you were not acting with this video...(i think you were :P )

then nice and kind of "natural" way of showing us how to do it. ; )

  • @niettevragen Thanks. Well, I was in front of the camera, so I had to be acting a little :) It wasn't scripted or anything though.

  • @dowzit

Like you refrained from scratching your crotch? lol Just kidding. Good video.

  • I've been trying this for a few days on mine, can't seem to get it to work. I can hear clicking in the lock, but I've spent about 10 minutes trying to jam the pen and twist it further, but it isn't happening. What opened it for you, the shaking?

  • @ScottyTheLoneWolf I really don't know what made it work. I tried for about 10 minutes too (I just cut that part of the video out). Finally all the jiggling just seemed to undo it.

  • watch his finger, for most of it his pointer finger is wrapped around the bolt, (kind of an awkward way to hold a lock right?) pay close attention he always has tension on that bar until he flips it upside down and it just so happens to come undone.

  • @clarkbarsix It looks weird, but I didn't fake it. I have no motivation to do that. I watched it again and I don't think it looks that fake. Just watch how much I'm shaking it. I have tension on the bar, but not on the U-lock. But none of that matters because the fact is that you can unlock these things with Bic (or generic) pens. It was just harder for me than for other folks. Good luck!

  • @clarkbarsix Noticed that to. Just enough pressure to keep it from falling, until he flips it.

  • 1906.. LOLSSSS!

  • you threw away the keys ?? i could have used those to make a real pick.

  • 1906 WOW U MUST BE OLD ROFLMAO

  • Is that Napoleon Dynamite LMAO

  • @bmarkbyte Yeah, sweet hairstyle, right? I wish I was Naopleon, that guy rocks.

  • Hahaha, your reaction to finding out a bic pen opened a professionally tested bike lock was bad a acting. If you made an effort some kids might of believed you

  • @1983Dave1983 Sorry man, wish that was acting, but it's just my dorky personality.

  • fakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefakefa

  • @nikossssspcextreme I know it's a weird camera angle, but if you watch closely you can see that it's not fake. You really don't have to fake unlocking this kind of lock with a Bic Pen.

  • @dowzit yea i used to do this when i was like in 6th grade and still bikes and hide them and piss ppl off XD XD XD XD

  • 0:13 seconds- he went to collage in 1906, holly shit he has aged well ! !

  • Quite a bit harder on a bike, especially if you cant move the lock around.

I weld scraps of steel on all my locks to make it hard for hand picks, and impossible for pick guns to get in the cyl.

If someone wants your stuff, they'll take it, or wait for you to unlock it and bash you from behind. Even a little guy can wtfpwn you if you dont see it coming.

My best defense against crime: open carry HK USP .40

What really pisses me off is having your lock stolen. lol happened to me as a kid.

  • new kryptonite U-locks don't have circle-like holes for round keys. you just can't do the trick with today's u-locks.

  • @c0ugarrhunter I'd be surprised to see somebody in a bike. Most people get on them, not in them, but whatever works for you...

  • bic pens are cool FUCKING NERDSSSS

  • It's just a lock you're opening and you're huffing and puffing as though you're wrestling a crocodile.

  • hey loser, go to college and maybe you won't be so surprised to see people in bikes.

  • there's a car in the background you retard. his bike is leaned on it. pretty sure it's his.

  • crap

  • bikes locks are just deterrents

  • no one wants to spend time picking a lock in case the owner comes by.

  • here it says on the kyrptonite locks dat they cant be broken into, therefore, they cannot be broken into

  • For some reason I felt like you were "acting"... especially when you were like "oh shit, it works" pretty lame if you ask me.. loser.

  • they aren't harder to pick but whats the difference, none of them are pick proof. the message i receive is not to get a good bike because it will get ripped off. i lost at least three that way.

  • they had those bikes with a huge tire and a tiny tire back then

  • The technique shown does not apply to newer Kryptonite U-locks, but only to the old ones made several years ago.

The old locks used tubular keys which many people assumed were high security and difficult to pick. Now Kryptonite has switched to disc-tumbler locks with are much much harder to pick.

  • disc tumbler, or just regular door lock tumbler, because ive fashioned my own key that can bump most door locks, and a tension wrench for padlocks, and then just rake them, its not that hard to crack such locks

  • Regular door locks use cylinders which have pin-type tumblers (usually 5 per cylinder). Tubular key locks also use pin tumblers (usually 7 per cylinder) arranged longitudinally. That's what the old Kryptonite locks used. Newer Kryptonite locks use a cylinder with disc tumblers which rotate rather than move up and down. It's a completely different design which is extremely pick resistant. You can't rake it or bump it either.

Yes the old Kryptonite locks could be picked, No the new ones can't.

  • dayum... not that i steal bikes... or anything for that matter, it's just fun, i bet somebody will find a way though, they always do

  • damn i just bought one im going to put like a shit load of black tape on that end where the pic pen goes just to make it a longer process for any thief

  • LOL dude i might do that

  • 1906??? you dont even look like your 50, 1906 is more than 70 years ago

  • he's talking about the actual lock man...

  • sarcasm

  • idiot.

  • its a joke

  • Heh, that bike sitting across the street will be mine by night's end . . .

  • "Step by step", eh?

  • You haven't used your lock since 1906? I didn't know they made that kind back then......doh

  • I think he was joking. its proberly old but not that old :L

that would make him 103 years old if he was born in 1906 never mind going to college!

  • @potnoodle12 - My only guess was he was in college for a while and started to say 19, like 1998 or 1999 as in the year, then I think he said 06 as in 2006, thus 1906 was created!

  • looooooooooooooool

  • They changed it, it doesn't work on new ones

  • "oh damnit it works.." HAHAHAH

  • i love this video :)

    kryptojunk !

  • This is the equivalent to a skinny blank key for a regular lock, the notches on the key are not there to turn anything, they just get in the way, so any hollow tube of the right size would do it.

  • It's not fake dumbass. Bad spelling "two."

  • nobody has spotted the fake !

he holds the piece together (already unlocked) within his fingers untils he flips the lock towards him and releases his grip, fake fake fake.

    ps: bad acting two.

  • I'm not holding it together within my fingers when I flip it toward me.

  • If you clamp the pen with a pair of vice grips, it should take only seconds. I'm going to try this in my old Krypto lock. My new motorcycle has a new style Krypto lock.

  • POC LOL

  • Youngblood... first off, good vid. There is conflict, pathos, loud train noise.

Secondly, I am right there with you on the bummer train. I have a Citadel from '06. Maybe make a paperweight out of it.

    Best from Kentucky...

P.S. I've been looking at Onguard locks. They look pretty good...

  • I actually went ahead and bought another Kryptonite. They apparently ditched the round key shape design a while ago. My lock seems pretty solid.

  • Apparently you can just exchange your Bic-opened lock for another Kryptonite lock that can't be opened with a Bic... (The old ones that came out before the October+ editions can be exchanged for an October+ edition).

  • what exactly did you buy ? give me the lock's product name or id or somthing

  • I can't find a bic pen that works

  • It has to be one of those white Bic pens with an end cap that you can pop off. It's this round, hollow circle that acts as the skeleton key. I also have a few of these pens that I collected from hotel stays.

  • do it attached to the bike on the street. it is alot harder then just in your hand!

  • Yeah...and it took the guy a minute and a half. You won't have that much time on the street!

  • "Alright man, Kryptonite sucks. Bic pens.. I guess are cool..."

    bwah hahaha

  • hilarious...you can sense the complete disappointment..."oh crap....it works...that sucks"

    nice vid

  • Where is Wally?

  • Clown haircut is the funniest comment. To set the record straight, it's clown no haircut.

  • Clown haircut!

  • lol....this mutherfucker lol.......

  • laugh all you want but this just saved me $20...I locked out of my safe and lost the key. A replacement is $20. Thanks to this guy I used a 10cent bic pen and opened it up in less than 10 seconds. Thanks dude

  • LOL

  • ...geepers, that was cool. Now go smoke a bowl and celebrate!

  • kryptonite you officialy are out o buisneasss

  • haha "o damn't it works that sucks."
