@ndyt No actualy we dont know what "dark matter" is its a place holder term, kinda like dark energy we have directly seen it, but have measured its affect on the space around it, so hints the word "dark", but we have seen effects which lead us to believe it is solid matter, or energy which is where the last part comes from. "Dark matter" is a type of solid matter that hasn't yet been directly observed, same thing with "dark energy".
How can you call it an understanding of the universe and keep a straight face! Light isn't everything you crack it up to be hehe - you'll find out soon actually.
I believe the LHC is like a Stone Age man hitting two stones together and creating sparks. He will be able to give the sparks names some Up Sparks, Down Sparks, Blue Sparks and Red Sparks. But he will never find dark matter!
