They didn't do anything similar to her. Honestly, I don't think anything Coulter does requires distortion. She covers that pretty well.

@EllenAte It's not a strictly political move. This sort of "rule" is culture handed down by the laws of the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. If your great-grandfather was black but all your other ancestors white, you were, in the eyes of the law, black and to be treated as such.
I don't disagree that people should embrace all heritages (or none if they prefer) but it's not elitist or just political not to do so. It's a deeply embedded dynamic of our culture.

@rocsalt Because the laws historically were designed so that if you were even 1/8th black, you were black and had less rights than others. It makes perfect sense that our culture morphed into a system in which a child adopts the ethnicity of the minority parent. It's a good point that maybe that system isn't the best system, but you have to understand where it comes from, and that IS where it comes from.

@rocsalt Because the laws historically were designed so that if you were even 1/8th black, you were black and had less rights than others. It makes perfect sense that our culture morphed into a system in which a child adopts the ethnicity of the minority parent. It's a good point that maybe that system isn't the best system, but you have to understand where it comes from, and that IS where it comes from.

Coulter harms the conservative right. She has many good points but seems happy to come out with silly comments - such as the one regarding 9/11 widows or her "bitchy" appearance on "the view" - which are just self defeating.
It is not enough to annoy the liberal left - you have to bring out some hard hitting cogent arguments. Coulter can do it but seems happy to choose instead flip remarks and throw away comments that help her opponents.
