  • Ringo used to sing this song to his moher

  • My brothers gave me this record to play on my new record player when I was a kid. I still have that 45 somewhere in the garage. No one ever remembers this song by them.

  • I don't remember this version but thanks for posting it, Xpinger.

  • I feel so identified with this song, no matter who I love, or what I do... I always feel like nobody's child.

  • As for the timing of the song: When the CD came out there were a few songs that were a bit longer. Some were edited for the album itself and as the case for this particular song, if it was considered for a single then the effort would have been made to keep it under 3 minutes. My Bonnie has the additional intro that was never released on the original album.

  • @lakefloor RE: Teacher & God. I used to manage Tony and wrote his biography. 3 sources of those comments were John McNally of The Seachers, Pete Best- then The Beatles' drummer and Bill Harry publisher/editor of Merseybeat. The Beatles had asked Tony to join them- "to come back to England and see what happens" as Pete Best put it, but Tony refused.

  • @bluesgutter Wow! That is so fascinating to know. The man may have appeared to some a bit egocentric but he had such a fire and drive, a great talent. Is that biography still in circulation?

  • @lakefloor I wrote the bio in the late 1980 while living in Germany and finished up in the early 1990s. My agent almost placed it with a couple of US publishers but it never sold. One particular company was really interested but they had just put out Blackbird- the McCart bio by someone and that was a bust so they shied off. So it has basically been sitting on my shelf for 16-18 years. Lately I have been thinking about re-editing it and publishing it myself.

  • @bluesgutter Oh DEFINATELY! It's worth a few more headaches. It's profitable information. People are still discovering him and with the powerful push of the Beatles name behind it you couldn't lose. I would definately support it.

  • could be the fact that radio stations were reluctant to play anything more than 3 or 3 1/2 minutes long...my guess...back in the 60's, most songs were between 2:30-3:00 minutes long

  • I have an idea why the label says the timing is 2:58 but the song is actually 1 minute longer. In the 60's, radio stations didn't like songs to be over 3 minutes long, so sometimes record companies lied about the timing to get the song played. I've heard this was done with the Righteous Bros. "You've Lost That Loving Feeling."

  • @tamspeci ..back in 1967, when Simon and Garfunkel recorded FAKIN' IT.. showed on the record label time 2:74 (3:14) ...LOL ...

  • The Alexander Brothers was a better version. But try the Sweet Emily version from the bahamas. More upbeat. Her album is on amazon. We are planning to use her version in a childrens show near the end of the year. But I like The Alexander Version also.

  • you kiss your mother with that mouth!!

  • @YLJW4 u know what my mother died 25 yrs ago so i think that would be a little impossible to do as u suggest. u have your views i have mine so pls keep yur views on me to yourself as im sure noone is interested in your little snidey remarks that are soo trivial and babyish oh dear u seem to have lost your dummy or didn't the shop have one big enough to fit your big gob

  • my comment was meant in hummour why does everyone get so worked up over youtube and as for you saying im babyish then leaving a comment like that you made yourself look a right knob mate and what makes you think people are interested in your snidey remarks about me and if i find a dummy big enough for my gob il let you know so you can get one and stuff it up your arse!

  • You are a little orphan socially and musically

from your little mind comes out a cry to be accepted as a critic. I bet your mother doesn't love you.

  • This is the song Ringo sang to his mother when he was little.

And she sang Little Drummer Boy to him. :)

  • Some like mummy, some like daughter. ;-)

Imao the best cover if this Iris traditional was made by Travelng Wilburys. Sorry they removed this here, but this is real awesome, awful and with brilliant vid. Even Teddy Bears want to appear there...

Something for everyone for ask for why...

  • You have to hear Lonnie Donegan's version - totally awesome.

Good job Tony & The Beatles - love the bassand the rockabilly guitar.

And it's good to hear Pete Best play the drums.

What's on the other side of this 45 - I had all the Beatles ATCO singles when I was a kid.

    I think someone stole em.

  • gostei

  • Amazing song. Tony Sheridan's voice is

full of so much soul - brings chills. This is a incredible recording. Sad, powerful, and brilliant. thank you!!!!

  • very sensitive song great voice by tony sheridan

  • CRAP

  • you"re crap

  • brill song....... but this is the worst version of it i've ever heard.

  • This was recorded and released as an extra track on The Traveling Wilburys CD...

  • Strange, Elvis,RoyOrbison, and The Beatles, on the one record, Bloody good all the same.

  • bob dylan rewrote the song anfd changed some lyrics

  • Is it just me or is Tony Sheridan trying to channel Elvis Presley with a touch of Roy Orbison's coyote wail?

  • This is my first time listening to this song and I though it was Elvis at first.

  • We shouldn't be that surprised. Rock and Roll was still essentially the Blues, and lots of early British rockers tried to sound like Elvis.

Funny thing though was David Lee Roth said there was a period when everyone wanted to have the California Beach sound, and bands in California wanted a more Beatlesque sound.

  • He does sound a lot like Elvis here.

  • The Beatlea had 2 nicknames for Tony: "The Teacher" and "God."

  • @barisax2000 Where did you hear that from? I've never heard that before.

  • this is a good song i dont know what ur talking about tonys voice is grand

  • Sounds ok, but I don't like the Beatles playing "second fiddle" to anyone. I'd rather hear one of the Beatles singing.

  • Why would anyone, It Seems as The Beatles Did it and it didn't seem to bother them! And did it hurt their careers...NOT!!!!

  • No, Xpinger did it. His or her reasons I don't know, but there's no counting for what sometimes passes for taste these days.

If you're going to try to twist my words, try getting your facts straight. Makes you seem a lot less retarded.

  • george later redid this song w/ the traveling wilburys

  • no this is a different song then wilburys

  • bullshit69

It's the same song as the wilbury's did..just a bit slower

  • @tabboo100 I will look that up, thanks. I have always loved Billy Furys' version. Am sure George would do better than Tony.

  • Holy crap! The intro is identical to the intro of "You Like Me Too Much"

  • not identicle but i see where you're coming from

  • fine

  • One of my favourites...

  • very good

  • Sweet!

  • Wow! Rarity!
