Attacking base 3 (the base on the right) during the surprise attack is a waste. Fully repaired, the Odin can singlehandedly clear that base after the regular game starts, with very little micro (even on brutal). I can get far enough into base 1 to use the special attack to take out two of the starports, cutting the production of air units in half.

... If you take the left expansion right at the start of phase 2 while sending the Odin to the right, the Odin will prevent base 3 from ever attacking your base, and all the air attacks from base 1 will focus at your expansion.

To increase the damage done on the surprise attack, don't destroy the the structures all the way. All you have to do is get them burning and destroy all the scvs, then they'll blow up by themselves while you can use the extra time to do more damage elsewhere.

... This is especially true of missile turrets. They have 250 HP, the Odin does 200 damage. So you can actually oneshot the turrets and let them burn down themselves.

i Have been trying to pass this mission by myself but i surrender it is very dificult, if you dont do a very good atack at the beggining, i dont have the satellite on my base, but i will try again right now i am doing 45 minutes jajajaja but with ghost and nuclear bombs a lot of them

when you play on hard you play either on fast or faster speed, so thats why this video is 14 minutes. try watching the clock ingame and your clock. youll see the difference.

I did it with just the Odin, 8 scvs (4 and replaced by 4). Took 19:33 min. Could take 17:00 min and only 4 scvs with this technique for players with good micro (note that my micro sucks).

How are you able to access spectres and vikings? When I play the archive of that level, I have a limited tech tree (no vikings, etc)..

@ecuguru Spectres come on the Tosh branch and Vikings come on the Ariel Hanson branch, so both those missions could be completed before Media blitz (which is the Matt Horner branch).

@ecuguru if you haven't figured it out yet, and are doing the missions on normal, then doing the archives on hard, you have to have completed the missions that grant you said unit before doing this mission. then, when you do this mission, you should have the banshee, ghost/spectre, vikings, ect. for this mission.

Your strategy does not work, they bring ravens at each tower.

@KaHa6uC4o Apparently on Brutal you can just use nukes to keep the ravens from getting close enough to detect the ghost/spectre because the AI is "smart" and avoids nuke zones.  Makes sense for normal melee games, but ridiculously stupid when the computer's objective is to prevent you from accessing the beacons. They should realize that sacrificing the Raven to kill the ghost is the better option.

don't forget to unlock the secret mission while doing this mission, it's in a civilian structure in the lower right side of the map under the base to the right.

I've tried this achievement like 100 times and it's just not possible. You supposed to have 5 minutes with the odin but it counts down in 3 minutes. I noticed that your Odin kills the vultures in one shot, not in my game. They take two shots each! So do the Helions. So my Odin dies before it even clears half of the second base. Then I start my base with 5 minutes already on the clock and no economy. xP

One more thing. When you load the mission from the achievement archives, you don't get the Orbital Command, so you can't use mules.

@VerumAdNauseam Wrong. You get whatever you had when you first played through the mission. Unlocked units and armory/research upgrades are not retroactive.

You should stick to one strategy. You list at least 5 of them to get the achievement but you only do one of them.

I think the reason why real time isn't equal to sc2 time, is simply because "faster" in starcraft is faster than real time..

Thanks for the vid. I just ended up not using Specters and using the Odin and 4 SCV's for everything (I got the whole second bases' production buildings down this way, because I didn't go for all of the turrets.) Also, I made 3 Thors to defend my base and 2 SCV's to repair them and just left it alone the whole game, everything was fine... I also sent those 3 Thors to destroy the building with the secret mission in it, right as the Odin started to attack the third base.

I basically did this achievement like you. I started clearing the middle base, then moved south. After the cutscene I put an SCV on Odin and immediately sent him out again to clear the rest of the map. Double Armory upgraded him over time. Then I built two Ghosts and got a few Vikings. Place the Ghosts on the circle and position the vikings so they can intercept the raven before he uncloaks the ghosts. Make sure you save before you trigger the event and reposition if necessary.

Your problem with the time is that you're playing faster than normal. Check the seconds countdown in the beginning of the mission, they run faster than real time seconds. The time is 20 min game time, no cinematics considered.
