Why guild the lillies! The original (acid house!) theme tune and amazing b/w tv feedback graphics were all that were needed to conjure up the dark magic of dr.who. Simplicity is always the best, this tune is too frilly and just trying to follow the original, The thing about the original is that it was truly futuristic!

I've seen a lot of good shows get new theme songs, and usually you can get used to those. The reason the Doctor Who theme was the way it was is because there's no rock or alternative that could capture the scifi - ness of the show. From the start the doctor who theme was created on a computer, and I (personally, though it is just an opinon) believe that they should keep it as technical sounding as possible. Regular instruments don't do justice.

I get what your saying and i mostly agree. However, I think 'regular' instruments sound really amazing and it reminds people that it isnt all about the future and stuff, but that you can see bits from the past, as it were. I think it sounds quite good as it is.

I'm sorry, I just cannot stand this. I hate it when theme songs are changed. The Doctor Who theme song was PERFECT the way it was. I see no reason why they should have changed it. It suited the show incredibly well. BRING IT BACK!

How can people say they hate the new theme, I love it! Doesn't it sound so symphonic and exciting? Being a Doctor Who fan since a small child, the music always gets me excited. =D

I was surprised when I heard it but all in all I thought after 3 series it was time for a change and I rather liked this new version. Though personally I feel a remake for 2008 should be done out of the Peter Davison era music intro.

Ear-scratching, overly busy and horrific. You could weld things with this themetune.

(And if they're this keen to smother the original "woo-oo" noise in effects and Stomp drums, why not drop it entirely? What happened to Murray Gold saying the DW theme was the greatest piece of music ever so he didn't want to fiddle with it too much?)
