The embodiment of heavy metal. A lot of the B-17 crewmen went on the become the 1% of malcontents of our society. They experienced hell in a can and could not cope with the staid society of the late 40's (considering this shit you can understand why). They were the true rebels of American society post WW2.
@85szabolcs German fighters. U.S. never used B-17 extensively to bomb Japan. They used B-29s, which flew higher than Japanese interceptors could reach.
@yam83 I thought the scene takes place in the Pacific. One of the bombers is called "Pacific Pearl" and at the end of the segment the pilot parachutes onto an island with tropical flora on it. Also, B-29's were only used in the Pacific after the spring of 1944.
But even with it's mistakes, it's still a great animation.
If you Look at call of duty zombie first map a plane crash and it's the same place like this except they never explain how it crash in the zombies game maybe just look at samiliar things and this is a cool video song goes good with it where the rest of the video.
To me, the first part was always the toughest part to watch in the film, while the rest of the stories are obviously fantasy, the bloody violence of the bombing run during "Takin' A Ride" actually happened in real life during World War II.
@digi7al3891 Yeah I like that look. They built a model, painted it in high contrast and then filmed it in black and white. The resulting film was used as the basis for rotoscoping (when you use a frame of live action, trace over it as the artwork for an animation cell)
Soundtrack is beyond epic

@Tinkeralch1 Agreed!... It always amazed me how they achieved the 3D look of the B-17 @ 0:35 back before there was CGI.
