No, kite surfing. Wind surfing is with a sail-board with a single triangular sail and a mast. Kite surfing uses a foil shaped kite, usually with an inflated leading edge and four long lines that control the kite making it controllable for power and direction. technically its all wind surfing I guess but as sale-boarding came first it was called wind surfing and in time the label come to mean sail boarding . When kite surfing came along there needed to be a name for it other than wind surfing.

Just thinking out the differences in air foil characteristics, I'd guess that the board surfer will be faster
