I was just watching a home reno show, Love It or List It on Women's Network, Canada. The guy had a Reckless poster in his basement and he was a drummer. Any idea if it was the guy in the video?
@200mad Yup, same guy - only 27 years later! Apparently he didn't have the poster up in his basement; he had it in storage, but the tv crew found it and put it up as part of the reveal. There was also a pic of him at 14 years old with Neil Peart backstage that the crew found, framed and put up for the reveal too!
Man, this is as god awful as I remember it from 25 years ago.
I absolutely loved the first Reckless album with Jan on vocals and I loved Doug Adams with Witchkiller. What a band!
I have no idea why Steve would dumb things down this much when he could write mindblowing stuff like 'Victim of Time'. And WTF happened to his guitar tone?! His tone ruled on the first album.
The Cornball Meter needle blew a fuse @ 2:45. If they played this one at Gazzaris back in the day they'd earn at least a dozen empty beer bottles for this offense.
@GlamorousDarkness - Hey, GD: This version of Reckless had no song called "Nitty Gritty", and this was their only promotional video. You're thinking of the US band Reckless that came out after the Canadian band was already broken up.
This album was released in CD format, I have a copy. Steve is one of the best guitar players in Canada. So if the tone was off, it wasn't his fault. I've known him since 1986. Marshall Law (which was the name of his group after he dropped the name Reckless) also released a CD. It was his first album with Jan that was never released as a CD. He toured in Europe and opened for bands like Iron Maiden, Adam Ant, etc.
I really like the lead singers voice. He has a great range, and sounds like if he was pushed a little more he could have really had an even more powerful voice.
Not Sure WHY lederman or Beggs ETC are tagged in this particular video And STEVE MADDEN OMITTED since STEVE MADDEN wrote all music & lyrics for all the Reckless albums *except for one song I believe..but it was never a hit so I dont' remember which one it was!Must be becaude he not only heralded such amazing musical genius & wicked guitar..but was so hott in his black leather jacket...and still is 30 years later!!!!
very kule song...i really liked it...owned a Casette of "Reckless - Hot'n;Ready"...lost it...but, aftr losing the Casette...never found the album anywhere...this is the only song from Reckless i've heard so far since the last time....bad curse...lol..:(
Does anybody have the 'Victim of Time' performance from German TV of the original Reckless with Jan on vocals?! That was THE BOMB! This is totally weak and the singer sounds like a bad Mike Vescera (Obsession, Loudness) clone!
Does anyone remember about that cute blonde...? Jan Melanson was her name... Just listen to the first Reckless lp... UNDERRATED! (and it's a cryng shame!!!)
totally agree... I own a vinyl copy of that record (and it's a canadian print) it's quite rare to find nowadays I think... they never released it as a cd if I'm not mistaken...
Holy Shit! My old band used to cover this tune. We are getting back together for a reunion and we were trying to get a copy of this song to go over it again. This is too cool. It was one of our favourite tunes.
Thank's,I'd put Steve Maddens ugly mug out of my mind but now this comes along to haunt me.Just kidding Stevie-Ahh,those were the days eh/Cats Eye Studio's vet here!If you could only do it all again.
I remembered Steve Madden had me playing drums,I played so hard (which he had me doing) and broke all the sticks then kept me playing even when the sticks were the size as the cigs :)) I think we were doing a song called "top of the world tonight" then it was off to the booze cans..(it would be sooo packed.. it was like being in a can of sardines)
too bad I never saw them when they were with JAN, anyone have a video of them playing victim of time ?
IF YOUR PERM WAS BETTER THAN THE LEAD SINGERS...GIVE A THUMBS UP...I KNOW MINE WAS...:)
