Dude is fried, its sad. I have a friend like that who waits for the opportunity to spill his guts about his guilt and self-loathing and anxiety. He's been sober for over a year now but he's still struggling. IMO he's lucky he isn't dead or in prison. The guy has the biggest heart too.

I'm shocked by this. He actually DOES open up in this video. It's sort of unusual, but I actually corresponded with Steve-O briefly a few years back. We actually talked about some of his issues. I had actually told him that, just by watching his videos, I felt he had a very well developed spiritual side. I think this is what's so fascinating about him: he's sensitive and introspective, but totally self-destructive. I wonder how long he'll live. Surprising he's still alive, actually.

I think he's trapped in the situation that Andy Kaufman was trapped in. He's created a character and lost himself in it. Also, of course, he loves (and needs) the attention. So, even when he's talking about his pain, he's still getting attention. I mean, it's the same either way. (1) He gets attention by inflicting pain upon himself. (2) He says that he needs the attention because he's in pain.

It's all sort of troubling.

The sheer fact he's now opening up like this -and you can see he's really opening up, everything shows that - means he's changing. We don't need such a unique sweet person to end up badly.He deserves happiness, if only for all the funny LOLthings he's given!

As far as I'm aware, he's been talking like this since 2003. And then he's had tons of ups and downs since then. I remember Howard Stern once saying that Steve-O's whole act is a "love me daddy" act; in other words, Steve-O's parents didn't pay enough attention to him when he was a child. The problem is that if he cleaned up his act, no one would pay attention to him. That's the double edged sword of fame: people want to watch stars burn out.

Yes evita, what you meant was clear. Yet the fact he's tried more than once and hasn't succeded doesn't really mean he never will. Parents' unsuccessful perormance can be overcome. It takes time,and the fact we don't notice-externally-the result of his previouos attempts doesn't really mean there aren't any. On a deep level things move slowly...the moment we see them is when they've been layered on and on...that's what habits are made of, either good or bad ones. Every single attempt is a brick.
