  • seriously should make some CD's!!

  • Thats hot, Tobacco flametop?

  • Great finish!!!!!

  • i love your vids

  • If someone doesn't want a Les Paul after hearing this...

    Beautiful tones, inspired playing.

  • IM OLD GREGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • for sale hopefully!?

  • That's just beautiful!

  • hey what kind of recording equipment do you use?

  • @kellyisvlogging it is listed in the Video Info and on the start page of my you tube channel

  • The okko diablo - I love the fact that this is like another channel on your amp. It is an authentic tone selection. My question is can it achieve the dumble sound that the zendrive overdrive can. I am trying to decide between the two. If it can I am buying this pedal asap!! It is everything I would ever want in one easy to use pedal, but no dumble no dice.

  • What a tone and feel!!!

  • Always Wanted A LP With A P90 In The Neck And A Humbucker In The Bridge.

Always like that little extra kick from the neck while still keeping that nice sweet tone.

  • super playing in general. very tasty

  • hey greg, how different is the tone from this les paul to other vintage les paul's of yours??? is it really pure different?? or the legacy remains on les paul (non chambared)

    Great videos. great playing. thanx

  • @joe6strings I'm not Greg but I'd like to answer that comment, just incase Greg doesn't have the time. :-)

The 2005 Standard was not chambered yet; it had the 9-hole weight relief Gibson introduced in 1983, and that does not affect the sound. Post-2007 Standards (and Studios) are chambered, and they sound more like an ES-335.

Vintage reissues from Gibson Custom have alnico II Burstbucker 1 & 2 pickups though while Gibson USA models have the wax-potted alnico V Burstbucker Pros.

  • @AragornCF

    hey, thanx for the information

so actually before 1983 les pauls were more heavy then ever since the vintage ones

are lighter then 1983-2007 les pauls (9lbs) right???

  • @joe6strings Hmm, not quite. Gibson started using heavier tonewoods in the 1970s, and a lot of people were complaining about the weight. That's why they introduced the weight relief. So a weight-relieved Les Paul is more or less the same weight as a historic, non-weight-relieved one. Gibson Custom uses the lighter (and more expensive) mahogany, but still they apply weight relief - 17 holes instead of 9 - to some models, like the non-historic LP Custom, LP Axcess.and Peter Frampton model.

  • @AragornCF Is a 2008 Les paul custom 68 reissue weight relieved?

  • @zotos777 No, the '68 Reissue Les Paul Custom is not weight-relieved. It's a historic collection reissue, and as such it is made with historically correct appointments. ;-)

On the other hand, the non-historic Les Paul Custom is weight-relieved, with the 9-hole weight-relief on pre-2003 models (which were made by Gibson USA) and 17-hole weight-relief on the post-2003 models (made by Gibson custom shop). The custom shop model is of course also made of the very light mahogany.

  • @joe6strings Yes, the Les Pauls manufactured between ~1974 and ~1983 are the heaviest of all, because this was before Gibson started applying weight relief, but after they had already started using the heavier mahogany.

  • which pick ups are these now??? and btw, u play very nice!

  • Do you work for Gibson ? How many guitars have you man ?! Nice work anyway !

  • @Jemappellequentin I sell guitars

  • @GregsGuitars Oook nice, where do you sell ? I live in Paris and i'm looking for an ES-339 or 335 (but there is so many models it's too hard to choose)

    Thanks

  • @Jemappellequentin I have a 339 and its sick i played the 335 to and the 339 was far better

  • @GregsGuitars if you sat around all day just jamming on these axes, I bet everyone would be walking out with a guitar!

  • @Jemappellequentin lol I was just about to post... how may guitars do you have!? this guy must be a millionaire!

  • Very nice playing on ALL your guitars Greg.

  • Vintage sunburst is much more darker, its a honeyburst I guess...

  • what is this song????

  • just a impro to a backing track

  • it is a very good impro!!!

it is a very good song!!!!!

  • @GregsGuitars What's the backing track from? I'd like to get it myself:)

  • @trifire02 The backing tracks are collected from the web during a long time. Sorry I don't know anymore from wich site this came from. When I find a nice track I'll store it on my computer and don't make a list with wich track came from wich site... Too many tracks (I would not even find this one on my computer, I just click them random when I record) too many sites. Seach for "Blues backing tracks" or "jam tracks" and you will find a lot

  • Very very nice playing. Lots of feeling and technique. But, how a bout some without the overdrive pedal....lets hear what you really sound like clean.

  • I greg, what was the color of this one ?

  • I don't know, vintage sunburst, maybe?

  • don't think so ... it look more like a Iced Tea ....

  • yes, possible

  • @backtothetone Iced Tea or Honey Burst.

  • why do you always use okko diablo pedal?

  • because it sounds so guuut

  • I'm glad he does. I had never heard of these, but now I am thinking of selling my bb preamp and getting one of these.

  • How similer is this les paul to the new gibson les paul traditional...same but with a bit better pickups...???

  • I have not checked one of those Traditionals yet

  • @clondan1 the pickups in he traditional are just as good, 57 classics are one of gibson's most preferred pickups. Its just not as hot as the burstbuckers.

  • same pickups, same guitar, different name.

  • A standard is not the same as the new traditional. The tradationals have a lot of the wood removed internally to reduce the weight.

  • 2005 was a great year for les paul standards. They were according to Gibsons own statements (advertise) then made to plans of the customshop. Actually I think they were similar to early historics... especially the premium plus series, which Gibson terminated were marvellous...My tip is a 2005 Gibson premium plus (AAA -top). Great value!

  • You bring out the best in every guitar you play,

  • Two questions. 1) Is the seymour duncan jb model stand for Jeff Beck Model? 2) Would it be better to leave the Gibson neck p'up in or put in a jazz model or something?

  • 1. yes,

    2. you can leave the Gibson PU, I think

  • 1. nope, Jazz and Blues

    2. agree

  • fantastic

  • Hello, I was looking for that kind of music what you play :) fantastic feeling and blues licks, could you be so nice and give a link to yours backingtracks ? thank you!

  • 2thats a magical guitar...i wish i had it!

  • anyone know the finish on this guitar?

  • maybe tabbaco, but not sure

  • Looks like Iced Tea finish...

  • That's called Iced Tea, or some call it Teaburst.

  • Okej !

I really need to ask you this because you are a pro guitar player and collector.

I´ve noticed that there are many 2005 gibson les paul standards around here and I´ve heard that these are the " better " les pauls out there. I´ve heard that the best is the 1958,59 and 60 models ofcourse and then the 1991 model. Do you think that the 2005 belong to the better les pauls ?

  • Every Gibson guitar is different and this is a good LP. But I don't know if the 2005 are great in general... sorry

  • So, I'm guessing you have some knowledge as to how much a guitar would be judged by it's year and condition.

  • you sell guitars and amplifiers, for living dont you??? You have lots of expensive guitars...

  • Yes I sell, and play live, making cds

  • Gregor,Is this LP fitted with the Burstbucker pros ,or burstbuckers 1&2?

  • sorry, I don't know anymore, guitar has been sold. Had Burstbucker - any BB...

  • nice!

  • This is the most beautiful LesPaul i've ever seen! well played & great tone as always!

  • nice lydian jam!

  • tasty!

  • did you put your delay in the effectsloop or just inline (between guitar and amp)

  • your playing is real similar to mine. makes me smile :)

  • What kind of pickups are you playing! They sound very smooth

  • stock burstbucker

  • Great sound, tone. Nice demo.

  • 2005 got good tone cause im lookin into one right now thanks for this

  • sounds like eric johnson

  • sounds like porno music

  • you have been watching some preety soppy porno lol

  • please send over a copy...

  • lol !! sorry private stash ... but gotta love this sound.

  • @tylerallensays this IS porno!!

  • thank you!! i will sell my 57!

  • woua the sound is better than a vintage les paul!! is a chambered les paul with burstbucker pro??

  • yes

  • im just wondering

    what does chambered mean?

does it have to do with the pickups?

    message me or just reply

  • chambered means that there are "chambers" on the guitar's wood during the manufacturing process so it wont be so heavy. They just poke a few large holes on the mahogany. The maple cap is unchanged... i think

  • thanks

  • no the chambered are large masive hollow chambers, not small drill holes like they use to do. ive seen an x-ray of a chambered LP and it is ridiculous how much wood they take out

  • I don't like what Gibson is doing with all these chambering on Les Pauls. They are making Les Pauls Hollow body guitars now.

  • I honestly wouldn't consider what there producing today (besides what in the Custom Shop) Les Pauls. There going way to far with the chambering, even going as far as to raise the prices over the full bodied LP's of 07' and before. It's redicules.

  • they dont chamber the VOS models, except the cloud 9 versions

  • So the VOS aren't chambered, but are they weight relieved by having holes in them like swiss cheese??? I also find those to be replusive.

  • nope no swiss cheese either...my '58 is solid as a brick

  • only the non custom shop ones after 07 have the swiss cheese or chambering. I believe the les paul 'customs' do too, but not the VOS reissues of the 50's customs like the 1957 triple humbucker. Your safe on the vos models pretty much

  • Thanks for the info, but it is ashame that you would have to pay 2 to 3 times more for a non weight relieved Les Paul. In theory, a non weight relieved Les Paul should cost less to make, as there is less processing to perform to make the chambering or swiss cheese holes for weight relief.

  • a theory i've heard about swiss cheese and chambering: when les pauls are weight relieved gibson can use heavier mahogany wich is less expensive. so that could be a reason for doing it

  • That sounds logical, but if Gibson really want to keep production cost down, they can use the cheaper heavy mahogany and not routing out chambers or drilling out relieve holes for the Les Paul Standards. Now by doing both, they save money on the heavier mahogany and save time and money in the process of weight relieving in the production line.

  • yeah, but i guess that would make the guitars to heavy. a 15 lbs guitar isn't good for your back.

  • One more request..Clapton's Bellbottom Blues you make me cry.. I dont want to lose this feeling

  • awe man it so mellow its gorgeous

  • Great Picture in HD it's like I am there

  • Sounds like Joe Satriani in places. Beautiful.

  • very nice!

  • I have a 77 LP silverburst custom and it has turned a funny misty light green, but it still plays beautifully.

  • Oh man....what a nice way to start a Saturday morning. Beautiful sound. Gorgeous note selection and touch. I'm gonna listen to it again and pass this vid along to friends. Great stuff...thanks! //pete

  • AWESOME!

    This is THE SOUND!

  • Hi Greg

Yes - superb playing... How does this LP compare to a vintage in your opinion? You certainly have a great sound and play with absolute taste.. Keep 'um coming!
