Love Ervand Abrahamian . I took two classes with him at Baruch he is a walking Encyclopedia. Probably one of the best experts we have on middle east, specially Iran. I would put him on State Department and run the whole middle east division. He is so good that I have taken non credit classes just to get into his classes.

Ervand is a hero, a fantastic, sage writer and commentator. For anyone who wants to understand the current Islamic Republic and America's relations with the Middle East I very much advise people to read his books.
