That was actually pretty good, I'm not sure why this is only at 3 stars. You have an interesting style.
The only constructive comment I can provide is that perhaps you could work on incorporating more wrist movement rather than using your whole arm as often, It might help with stamina and speed. Of course, if you don't feel like you need to do it then don't. You already play better than many drummers I've met who were obsessed with "proper technique".
i have a buddie that done his toms the same way and they sounded great but yea dude awsome sound it seems like you got your style down and all i wouldnt even worry bout spee unless u plan on drumming for behemothlol . keep up the awsome job man
It is indeed. When my apartment burned, it melted... :(
Renter's insurance paid for a new set, though. Now I've a Max Stax, the Max Splash Set, and the unbelievably kick-ass Melody Master Snare. Working on getting a new video posted, just having a hard time with the recording equipment... Not enough hours in the day....
So, for the record: These drums burned to a crisp. Stop telling me to tune ashes!! Seriously though, folks, please don't leave a comment if you've nothing to comment on aside from the horrible tuning and the horrible audio. I REALIZE THAT IT SOUNDS BAD. I posted the video to get constructive critism to improve my technique. "Sounds like juice cartons" doesn't count as constructive critism. Thanks.
Screw all these haters. The only time you would really need to change them for good sound is when you get a gig or a recording session with your drums. Personally I think your drumheads are perfect for practicing and since they are quiet they add a better quality to it!
fuck me did u make that kit? it sounds AWFUL! - TUNE THE FUCKIN THING! and if your cymbals sound so shit in a vid try layin of em a bit rather than that tumult
a tumult is like an epic horrbile crashin n i meant trry laying off of them a little more, i can tell they are nice cymbals and its just bad audio, my cam does the same, also if u crack on sum new heads, probs remo clear emperors, and tune them ur solo will sound alot more powerful, coz essentially u can really play well but urs kit doesnt have any power anyways peace.
oh n NO GAFFA TAPE!!! let the drum and head do wot they're designed to do, keep up das good work! - peace.
rather then trying to kill all of the overtones in the drums by suffocating them with duct tape..try tuning the damn things. You would be shocked at how good they would sound.
Hey man, I didn't say I didn't like your drumming. I thought your solo was actually very good, and the toms sounded pretty good. I wasn't making fun of you, I just thought it was ironic. Calm down.
your cymbals sounds awful, your snare and toms sound like your hitting cardboard instead of a drum. its awful. playing is ok, but really...take off all that damn tape, get new heads, and learn to tune...
playing is ok...no one can really tell you how to play, kuz playng is your own creative expression...what im saying is, others cant tell you how to express yourself.
dw and iron cobra are, the smae pedal, it was made by a company called camco, and tama and dw split on buying it from them. personally i like gibraltar
I agree with swellbrain1. Your chops are great. Looks you have a nice kit. Get away from all the "Duct Tape Tuning". Three things to try if you are looking for a fat sound. 1) Try Ebony Pin Stripes, 2) Try a heavy coated head, 3) Work with your local shop on tuning techniques. This is absolutely one of the hardest parts of playing the drums and a bit of a lost art. You are a solid drummer keep up the good work.
A little too much chop and stop. In some places your cymbals smother your solo instead of complimenting. Nice speed. Occasional sparks of ingenuity. Make those drums sing for you. Not too shabby.

im a drummer. why do ppl put tape on the heads? i cant figure it out
chrisrockspeoria 2 years ago
I used the tape as a way to muffle the drums so the sounds don't bleed together. I know better now, and use 'moongel' mufflers...
did you happen to watch any of my new videos??

Yeah, inferior equipment sounds bad. and it sounds worse with the crummy audio. the rest of the comment doesn't make sense:
"and if your cymbals sound so shit in a vid try layin of em a bit rather than that tumult" could you translate? Thanks marleyman.

You're right that the sound sucks....when you say "the way I hit the cymbals", do you mean that in terms of rhythm or my physical striking technique?

Very nice. You have very quick feet. Are you playing on a double bass drum set or double pedal? Nice job.

Double pedal. Tama Iron Cobra. Got a new drumset, so my next video with show an even less conventional tom setup....

Nice. Iron Cobras are the best. I use two of them. Smoothest and fastest pedal out there, no matter what the DW nutters say!! :)
