he is in the hospital is because he went in a cave with ayumi genta & mitsuhiko & genta witnessed a corpse so one of the guys who shot the corpse tried to shoot him but conan pushed them away and the bullet hit conan i think in his abdomen. He was able to get out alive thanks to them using their brains for once. He was sent to the hospital and they ran out of his blood type. Ran still believed he is Shinichi so she offered her blood Shinichi and ran have the same blood type :p
