Data connections don't work while a call is in progress on CDMA. If you turned on wifi, it would have worked.

yep, I got the 2600mh battery upgrade too, turns the phone into a real powerhouse and allows you to run it the way it was intended, with everything turned on. Had the phone a year now and still love it

Yeah this was an issue with the first release of the G1 series. They updated it now and they sell the G1 with new batteries that last WAY longer. My brother and mom bought the old one and they wanted the new battery so they called T-Mobile and they got the batteries for free. I just my G1 today and the battery lasts WAY longer.

The reason that it does not work on EDGE is because EDGE does not support simultaneous data connections and voice connections. So if you are on IRC and you get a call, you get disconnected :(.

yea i use this app on my G1, it only works on 3g or wifi, for some reason it does not work when you are only on edge, thats why it didnt work in this review

That makes sense. This is because when the phone is on 3g it can do data & voice at the same time. Obviously wifi is the same. However edge is one or the other. This is a network limitation.
