The irony of marijuana prohibition is the conservatives' reluctance to join the effort. Isn't the GOP supposed to have Libertarian leanings? It seems blatantly hypocritical for republicans to claim to advocate for individual liberties while continuing to support prohibition. It's maddening. And what about fiscal responsibility? It's hugely expensive and wasteful to criminalize marijuana. It's bad business!! The GOP could get the young vote, the lack of which cost them greatly in 2008.
Actually it was Reagan who coined the term "War on Drugs".
Republicans don't give a shit about individual rights for Americans. They are just looking for a way to get votes after getting their asses handed to em in 2008.
I just find republican conservatives despicable. They are the ones who thought it was a good idea to lock up many good citizens for non-violent drug crimes. Now all the sudden they claim they want changes?
If there are members of police and judical seats against the standing laws, why do they keep an open eye, instead of turning a blind eye. wouldn't it be nice if the only way to get caught was to try to smoke a tai stick on the courthouse roof, (or some other blantant display)? I wish people stood for what they belived in, not what they got money to believe in enforcing. sheesh.
THE WHOLE POINT PEOPLE IS TO EDUCATE YOUR SELF ON WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR GOVERNMENT(AND PROHIBITION) AND PASS THAT KNOWLEDGE,THE TRUTH ON TO OTHERS! Knowledge IS power! Apparently we have the power because this snowball is causing and avalanch. The end of prohibition maybe the lynch pin to undo al our governments B.S. Dont forget Charles Lynch,Marc Emery and all in prison for prohibition right now. Fight this BEAST!
its weird that conservatives weren't the first to jump on the decriminalization bandwagon. with their claims to want to keep laws within the constitution, weed should be way up on their list of priorities. our forefathers grew it, and the declaration of independence was even written on hemp paper! i dont think any of our forefathers wanted this plant to be cast out as taboo.
To the citizens (aka sheeple), we your illustrious government have performed vast multi-billion dollar studies regarding the concept of 'joy' in children. We have concluded that joy is in fact a horrific disease that must be eradicated before it spreads.
Effective immediately an anti-joy vaccine is to be administered in all public schools.
Together we can stop this dreadful disease called joy.
all I have to say is alcohol compared to Marijuana, I had two friends come walking into my house at 2:00 in the morning 3 sheets to the wind stumbling, people who smoke marijuana wont and dont do that kind of stupid shit, the most crazy thing a stoner will do at that time is raid the fridge & its not that drinking is bad it is just far easier to abuse alcohol then it is to abuse pot.
WoW are republicans gonna be the ones to do something sensible. I don't agree with them on most cases but it would be nice if one of the political parties actually tried to make this country better.
It is time that we the REAL owners of what has become known as America inc. reign in our rogue government and force it back into the cage it was meant for 'til it relearns the meaning of the command to "heel"
The morons who post stupid shit on this thread are the reason that there is such a stigma towards legalizing marijuana. If people didnt act like a bunch of 2nd graders when it comes to marijuana and its use, there wouldnt be such a strong argument against it. This video channel, MPP, is a great source. But the user comments show how far we have to go. Be responsible guys, this childish stuff is KILLING the movement! Wake up!
your rhetoric is old and irrelevant. people who celebrate the use of alcohol act like far bigger morons and no one gives a fuck about that.
nothing is killing this movement, this movement is coming to motherfucking life and we will be buying marijuana from established businesses within 2 years tops.
What? Im on your side numbnuts. People already are buying marijuana from establishments, ME included. But you fail to understand what I am saying. When stupid kids hop on here and talk like 3rd graders, it doesnt help the cause at all. Fox news wants to focus on these young immature people who cant use the substance responsibly. Dont be one of those people
Fenix, you failed to understand what I was saying. Your concerns over how people do or do not behave when discussing the topic of marijuana legalization on the internet in no way has any effect on whether or not it will be legal to buy from retail outlets without the guise of "medicine", which is likely to happen in less than 2 years.
I had to check twice that it said fox news, and not some face source. I was so suprised when I saw this was fox, and how he presented it as a good thing and how it's bad it's prohibited. really suprised by fox.
I know! Isn't it amazing? I quit watching FOX for that reason. With the exception of that pompous ass O'Reiley, maybe I can start watching FOX again. . .
Why now? Medical marijuana. the millions of medical marijuana users are NOT going on to hard drugs (gateway drug theory) , and they are NOT crashing cars, or going insane an murdering people. People can see that since weed is safe for the medically fragile people it is safe for ALL people. Legalization 2010
yeah, prohibition is just not working, I mean, people who are against it don't realise that their tax money is going to sustain all that people in jails for smoking the wrong herb. they don't realise that it takes about 60,000 dollars per year to keep a person in jail, two persons could live with 60.000! and also they don't realise that wether it's legal or not, it's still in the streets! and anyone can get them! I really don't find coherence on prohibition.
For my debate class, I've been assigned to argue that marijuana should continue to be illegal. It is the hardest assignment I've ever been given. Why? I've gotten 32 different sources, and I still have no non-tenuous arguement for keeping weed illegal. Every argument I've heard on why it's bad and deserves to be illegal is terrible, and supported only by opinion based in lies or misquoting. I've never smoked, nor will I ever, yet pot should absolutely be legal.
Oh yeah? I'll tell you something pathetic. My mom thinks its worse and that it kill nerve/brain cells! And when I insist on educating her with documents about the health effects, even with documents from the fucking World Health Organization, she refuse to see them! Talk about ignorance!
i think fox has finally had it drilled into their heads that legalization stands to make the country a lot of money and realized they should take the opportunity to appear fair and balanced. even so, i applaud them for having the balls to say it.
I'm kind of afraid that it'll be one of those issues like abortion, gun laws or gay rights that the GOP uses to make people vote against their interests (like they've been doing for years). You know, you vote for your right to bare arms, and you end up electing a guy who gives massive tax breaks to the rich. I fear pot will become one of those issues to rope in the cattle :-(
I was at a program called aspen because I got a minor..
It also covered why marijuana use is bad, one of ther reasons he sighted was "You don't know what they used for fertilizer.. who knows what could be in there"
