  • This is the high bar position, and you are applying low bar mechanics to the lift, resulting in the weird-looking back during the ascent. The bar is NOT located over your posterior delts.

  • The squat looks alright but you shouldn't watch in the mirror while your doing it. Look a little bit down.

  • LOL I am looking down, plus it's a very old squat video. I'm a lot stronger now, see my more recent videos

  • OK, I see it, when I look in the mirror.

  • whats so great about this?

  • do you not wear a belt man? Is the background music for any specific purpose?

  • nope, I don't even own one :)

music is just for modd and fill out the emptiness :p

  • you should you round your back alot.. also dunno if i'd call that a low bar squat... u have it pretty high...

  • my back is not rounded, if it was, it would hurt, it doesn't

it is low bar, the bar is located, just above my rear delts

anyway, my more recent squat videos in summer clothing show it better

  • I shouldnt do that at age 14 right?

cuz i heard working out stuns ur growth.

i only run up stairs and calf raises right now.

  • As long as you maintain form, and don't go too heavy you will be Ok

other than that you can do bodyweight squats, single leg squats, split squats and pistol squat etc

  • I am not the absolute expert on the topic but I think weight lifting can only stunt your growth in very extreme circumstances, such as if you did one rep "maxes" regularly, and even then I am not completely convinced. Lifting 5s or so shouldn't really pose any problems as long as you use correct form (which you should use regardless of age). Does working on a farm, e.g. hauling hay stunt your growth?

  • Working out does NOT stunt your growth...its a weight lifting myth

  • You got perfect form on your squats and you go really low - impressive!

Do you think it will help my vertical jump if i can squat 1.5 or more of bodyweight? my max squat is very low right now, i have been doing alot of explosive lifting and plyometrics but i've come to a point where i can't gain anymore...so i'm thinking maybe to start heavy lifting in squats and deadlifts, what do you think?

  • thanks

yes, when you have maxed out your gains from just jumping, plyo and explosive work, it is time to get stronger (and bigger if needed to get stronger). Then you will have more raw material and horsepower to make new gains

Power is always limited by your max strength. The stronger you get the higher potential power you csan generate

see my VJ formula at Kelly Baggett's site :)

  • nice squats colin

  • thanks man

getting there - slowly but surely

    leaning from my past mistakes
