When you say the Bible is infallible what do you mean? Do you believe that women can only be saved by baring children or that the different accounts at the tomb are not contradictory or how did Judas die did he hang himself or what?. Do you believe that it's appropriate to kill all your enemies ? eg old testement.Do you believe that God is love if so why are so many Christians are so obnoxious ? A lot of people are asking difficult questions and for many in the church that is not wellcome Why?

I'm glad people don't just take everything Rob Bell says as truth. However paul said you separate the straw from the stones. Meaning every preacher says good things and bad things. My question is what verse is in the bible that said jesus drove out all the sinners?????? He hung out all of them, tax collectors, prostitutes, etc. He went to the needy not the religious people who thought they had it all figured out.

@4inthefire My opinion is based on the writing, teaching, and speaking of Rob Bell. I was a huge Rob Bell fan for a long time, even did Bible studies based on his Nooma videos, but he is teaching heresy in the subtleties of his word choice and language usage. He is very smart and would not openly flaunt his lack of trust in the Word of God, the Bible, as inerrant or sufficient for Christian living. The Lord will have to show you, I cannot.

where did you hear that Rob Does not believe the bible to be The Word of God? He does. He says he does. And where does he say that 'everything s going to be ok'? He talks about hell in velvit Elvis and how it isup to us to decide to live the way of Jesus or not. Sounds like these comments are just your opinion. I agree with alot of what he said, but the Basis on which we preach the gospel is that Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

The world needs to know why they should fallow Christ why God came to earth and gave his life. But I dont agree that we should be in there face. But I do agree that we need to let them know that with out Him we are condemned to hell.

The bible is not full of happy go feely feelings. The bible has its good side as well as its dark side.

um maybe you should read john 3:17...and i agree the bible does not give the earth an age..you dont know how long the earth was "without form and void" or even how long adam and eve were in the garden before they were kicked out...maybe they didnt start aging until then because thats when they became mortal and subject to age..im not agreeing that science proves the age of the earth but im sure its older than most christians believe

Rob Bell does preach that sin is bad and he talks about hell. You Bible thumpers and legalists are the worst thing that has happened to Christianity. Read Rob's book before you judge him. If you want to take the Bible literally in every way then go pluck out your eyes and cut off your hands; go stone your children and cover your women in public; don't allow women to ask questions in church. First, Rob Bell speaks mystically about sin and hell as things we can rid ourselves of. He speaks of a hell on earth, and sin as something that we can breathe out, and grace as something that we can breathe in. This is mysticism and not Christianity. I have also read His heretical book "Velvet Elvis" which questions what we would lose if Christ was not born of a virgin. He he concludes we lose nothing. He also chums around with other religions and considers them enlightened? Very questionable...

Yes, that is what I said. Did you read what Rob Bell said about the virgin birth? Sure Christ chummed around with all kinds of people but He also said I am the way the truth and the life, no comes to the Father but by Me. In other words, I am the only truth. So yes, all other religions are false and lead to death not to the Father. If the Bible is Jello, as you imply, then Rob Bell is water. Maybe you should learn what it means to believe that the Bible is the inspired inerrant Word of God.

But if you are learning from Rob Bell, you will never hear the words inspired or inerrant come out of his mouth about the Bible. He believes it is a product of man, if you don't believe me go read His interview in Christianity Today. This is what those of us who believe in strict orthodoxy call heresy, unlike Rob Bell's good buddy Brian McLaren,who fills Rob's stool when He's gone, that believes in a generous orthodoxy.

Does that not mean that wherever there is truth, there is God? Yes man wrote the Bible, divinely influenced yes, but man wrote it. And what of people before religion existed? What of people before the Bible was written? Exactly! They had only God's spirit to go off of. The earth is approximately 4.55 billion years old. This is dated by Uranium half life decay from meteorites. God created us in a beautiful, complex way. Religion is a recent thing in the earth's history.

Rule one of philosophy: "Criticism must engage the argument" You have not engaged or disproved my argument of the age of the earth. And I am not an atheist, I am a Christian. I stand against atheism just like you do. But please, you must create a logical argument with provable evidence before you debunk the age of the earth. You must understand how the age is determined before you can say that it is not true. Where in the Bible does it give the age of the Earth?? NOWHERE! Don't add an age in.

So then you admit that you do not believe in the sufficiency of scripture and feel that you need an external explanation from "science" to tell this. Radiometric dating is again shakey at the least. They are still unsure that their estimations on the half lives of 235U and 238U are even accurate. Not to mention that the margin of error could be anywhere from 2 million years to 2 1/2 billion years off. It is all based on speculation not hard evidence.

Of course I believe in the scriptures; however, just as I said, since there is no age of the earth put in the Bible, science gives us a damn good idea of what it is. The margin of error still puts the earth at billions of years old anyway, so I don't see an argument against the earth being very old. It disproves nothing the Bible says. Science is not evil and has done wonderful things. Why can't everyone see the connections between science and the Bible? Where do they conflict?

Be careful when judging another person's heart. I can understand where your problems are with Rob Bell. I get that. The world also sees that Christian's are attaching Christian's. The world sees that we are not a people of love which was Christ's number 1 commandment. So what if Rob's message is not direct like yours might be. I appreciate that his dialect is different. Not everyone response to the same dialect. We need the diversity. Just like we need both small and large churches.

By The Way, I don't agree with all of the response from the guy responding to the bull-whip video. I think the bull-whip video and other responses take Rob Bell out of context, but I certainly don't agree with "trust me Rob is doing a lot of good" and God is only about Love, and we shouldn't judge another brother, etc. Testing all things is a great and biblical idea;God is love yes; and yet He is so much more; and while I agree Rob is doing a lot of good, that is not a good comeback to criticism

You have a desire for truth and this is good. I would submit to you that your teachers of "orthodox" christianity are simply one sided, and do not share a balanced gospel. Are we sinners in need of a messiah, absolutely...but was Jesus really swinging a bull whip and driving out the sinners...or did He come as a servent laying down His life with all Grace so that we might be sons of God and joint heirs to His kingdom. Love is a part of the gospel...not just hatred of sin! Hate sin, Love sinners!

He is driving the self-righteous sinners, and defilers of the representation of Himself, the Temple. They were sinners. Christ always dealt harshly with the unrepentant and self-righteous.

I know you think your speaking the truth but you are far from it. #1 You said all men are condemned, yet Jesus said I didn't come to condemn the world (sinners) but to save it (John 3:17) The law of God condemds us all, but Jesus came to fulfill this law and show us how to live out the will of God and bring His kingdom to earth...Love Him and Love Others (Matt 22:34-40)

Please read Romans chapter 3. All means are guilty before God, and the verse after John 3:17 says that those who do not believe in Christ are already condemned.
