As a teacher, your comments are always having homework ring true but the problem here is a cultural one. I am told, by the administrators, that if I give homework too often or make it too long, we will turn kids off to learning and they won't do any at all.
It starts at home and it should be continued in the elementary schools so by the time students get into middle school and high school they VALUE learning and hard work and not just see it as a chore to be avoided.
