  • could you post the lyrics to it

  • Chinese people ! Stand up for your right !

  • Zhang Yuan is a genius saxophonist.

  • Que super chido esta este rollito

  • I could even give credit to Cuijian's Korean descent for his rhythmic talent.

Korean is also better in dance music comparatively to China.

But that's all. Cuijian is a pure Chinese rock artist in every possible way.

And I don't know about Korean rock...

    O(∩_∩)O

  • Crazy fusion stuff. Mesmerizing!

  • aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiya!

  • Unlike most of his chinese fans I do like his more recent music as well

    This one is a classical!

I am going to see him tomorrow, and very very pleased by it

  • Love the Maoist dancers, and the sax players red guard hat

  • Love this! So much better than Japanese rock.

  • Japanese rock doesn't equal to Visual Kei. There are many psychedelic, experimental, progressive and other rock bands. And what about noise scene?

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing performance!

  • Cui Jian , Yeah , He is my idol

  • damn this is too good

    not to offend Chinese people,

but tone down all the pop and ballads

and make more of this man, its awesome

Coming from a Korean, I dont know too much about other chinese rock artists, but this is just REALLY good stuff.

  • and YES, this man IS better than most mainstream korean rock

  • im mexican. i listened to this song in NPR, AND FELL IN LOVE.

since i dont know how to read this... is this "born under the red flag"?

  • Cui Jian is Korean, he was of Korean dissent, his parents were Korean. But he was Chinese, in that he lived in China, grew up there.

But I hope you know that it's really not a big deal where he's from, and when you limit people to where they're from, it's really sad.

  • Still an awesome dude.

  • @AllieMP89 at least 5-8 millions Korea living in China over many hundreds years. From history archive, one branch of royal family Shang Dynasty immigrated to Korea Penisula over 2500 years ago, these are believed to broadcast China culture to this place first time.

  • @AllieMP89 Not Korean but Chinese from Korean ethnicity.

  • @AllieMP89 one of my best friend is Korean immigrate. no biggie

  • @AllieMP89 fuck off Korean! so disgusting to mention this

  • Great guys, lets all argue a bunch of stupid nationalist/ethnic bullshit that doesn't mean a damn thing. Woot. Cheers. Props.

  • I don't get it guys! who said he or his parents or his family history is korean!!??? that's stupid as hell. he is totally 100% pure Chinese or Beijingist. all right my korean friends! if you korean people couldn't find a outstanding musician like CHINESE-CUI JIAN, or any kind of your own culture, don't even try to steal from other countries, because that's just too freaking pathetic!

  • my friend, cui is ethnically korean.....but as a naturally born and raised beijing native his music doesn't reflect this at all

  • You korean is funny in this way :-), do you also think of how many of you have Chinese or Japanese blood then?

  • This is the funkiest Chinese song ever! 6 STARS!!

  • my favourite

  • oppressed subculture? must be kidding. have been following his music right from "yi wu suo you". think he is beyond his best time.

  • way better than korean rock

  • HA HE IS ACUTALLY CHINESE KOREAN.

  • cui is nothing to do with korean, except his blood~

  • Cui Jian is my favourite Chinese artist. He's a mastermind revolutionary artist, and even though I myself don't speak Chinese, I can just feel- it's like you can just feel the cries of rhe angry and oppressed subculture coming through in his music, you know?

  • Ironic that he is considered the father of chinese Rock since he is an ethnic Korean.

  • actually, his dad is part of the korean sect that live in china.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought both his parents are ethnic Koreans living in China. I am not sure if both of his parents are still Korean citizens but I do know that Cui Jian is a Chinese citizen.

  • yeah he is. but i think he was born in beijing, and he doesn't speak korean.

  • there are at least 1 million Korean Chinese as one of the 54 ethnic groups construct the people of China. They have been in China for generations much longer than Obama's dad, maybe his mom as well, who lived in the United States. How could you merely consider genetics upon people.

  • Right, because Korea's rock scene is so great right now.

  • I do not see culture in Korea's rock but just a well-polished form.

Cui Jian has nothing to do with it even if he is Korean Chinese. He represents the deep in side culture of China of the 1980s. it is not entertainment but art. He is the spirit of Beijing' innovative culture, inspired many young musicians and artists.

  • ps. just for clarification. words here do not mean anything disrespect to the Korean culture. Cui jian is Chinese and I do not think his music has anything to do with his genetic background.

  • ethnicity doesn't mean shit. he could be black for all i care, he's would still be a chinese citizen and still rocking with a statement.

  • Ironic?? why? Cui Jian's music has nothing to do with his ethnic background.

Do you think it is ironic when a son of Africa elected as the president of the USA?

  • No more than when a son of Europe was elected before him

  • Considering this came out in China during 1994, it sounds so modern. Call me ignorant, but this is amazing. Other than the Chinese being sung, this could come from any country.

  • just speechless.

    cui jian rocks.

  • I love love love these Chinese rockers!

The Father of Chinese Rock!!!

  • excellent!

  • nice song,

  • perfect in every aspect

  • This band rocks!! Thanks for posting this:)

  • Thank you for posting, in germany it's difficult to get songs of Cui Jian... I like him and I hope he will come to germany or at least europe again...

  • excellent!! I never had seen the video and the song is great. thanks you tube :-))))

    Cui Jian rules!

  • It's really just a Chinese Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it's still really good.

  • yep. thats what this music abt, cui jian have expericed all type of music even electric, hiphop, funk.

but more than that, espcically in a communist country, a Master poet, caustic social critic and intrepid, guiding spirit of the counterculture generation.

i can give cui jian all those names which western use to descrbe bob dylan. cui definetly deserve those

  • Dudes, we watched this in chinese class, i didnt know what it was called, i looked for ages, i finally found it and its friken awesome!, but the views are crap, we gotta spread the word of CUI JIAN AND HIS BAND OF FUNKY CHINAMEN!!!!!!

  • that's really funky! :)

  • wow! thank you for posting

  • Brave man !
