@blackiechan471 There is a huge difference between the 50 cal (pistol round) and the 50 cal BMG (rifle round) 50 cal simply means that the projectile is .5 inch in diamater, this is the only similarity. The pistol round uses a pistol cartridge that is roughly the size of the projectile while the rilfe round uses a much larger rifle cartridge that holds a large powder charge.

These guns are very usefull. I have 2, 1 in 50ae and 1 in 44 magnum. have hunted with both. Not that hard to carry at all. still easyer to carry than a 10 pound rifle/shotgun.

@EuropeanStandards I have handled but never shot the 50 A.E. desert eagle but having experience with large bore pistols like the 44 magnum revolver and 45 colt revolver, i feel confident saying that large frame pistols like that are more for show, pride of ownership and fun shooting. I would feel much more secure with a glock pistol by my bed due to the weight and higher round count in the magazine. There are many other options for home protection. I cary a pistol and knife every day. c my vid

I just recently bought a Desert Eagle in .50AE...I'm a big guy so I actually use it as my carry piece...It's one of the few guns that fits perfectly in my hand...Definitely not for everybody.

I held a Desert Eagle before, they aint that heavy, and they are rather comfortable to hold. I'm looking to buy one as soon as I can afford it. As for practicality, I don't see any logic behind people accusing the DE of being impractical, but I suppose it's elitism. I suppose that because it's pretty and popular some kind of magical force makes the gun unable to kill...
@ShayFeral I'm with you, practicality is in the eyes of the holder--- I have hands that are 9" from pinky to thumb and 8 1/4 from birdie to wrist so a small pistol like my wifes s&w m&p .40 is harder for me to shoot it's kinda like texting on a small phone with large fingers, I have had my 50 for 4 years now and I love it, the 3 bolt locking mechanism is sweet and the kick may be a little violent but the accuracy is like a .22. every time I take it out I'll run into someone who wants to shoot it
@plasmaman2507 I love Desert Eagles, holding one just feels like it was made for my hands. And the weight of the gun actually makes my aiming more stable. I've made several stops at my local Gander Mountain store just to hold one every now and again, just to get a feel for it while I'm trying to save up for one.
What I would love to do is to shoot one in .50 or .44 before I buy it so I know what I am in for exactly. There is only so much you can gain from researching, now time for a test!

I held a Desert Eagle before, they aint that heavy, and they are rather comfortable to hold. I'm looking to buy one as soon as I can afford it. As for practicality, I don't see any logic behind people accusing the DE of being impractical, but I suppose it's elitism. I suppose that because it's pretty and popular some kind of magical force makes the gun unable to kill...

@ShayFeral I'm with you, practicality is in the eyes of the holder--- I have hands that are 9" from pinky to thumb and 8 1/4 from birdie to wrist so a small pistol like my wifes s&w m&p .40 is harder for me to shoot it's kinda like texting on a small phone with large fingers, I have had my 50 for 4 years now and I love it, the 3 bolt locking mechanism is sweet and the kick may be a little violent but the accuracy is like a .22. every time I take it out I'll run into someone who wants to shoot it

@plasmaman2507 I love Desert Eagles, holding one just feels like it was made for my hands. And the weight of the gun actually makes my aiming more stable. I've made several stops at my local Gander Mountain store just to hold one every now and again, just to get a feel for it while I'm trying to save up for one.
What I would love to do is to shoot one in .50 or .44 before I buy it so I know what I am in for exactly. There is only so much you can gain from researching, now time for a test!

@plasmaman2507 Yeah, I did. Chances are that if I do run across a Desert Eagle to shoot before I buy one, the owner probably won't have all the parts. What I really want to do is to buy one in a kit with .357, .44 and .50 calibers so that I could use the .357 for carry when working in unfavorable areas.
