Dr. Sameh... I would agree with you that establishing mega national projects is the brilliant act to increase the national income away of taxes. However there is a psychological barrier that would rise up due to the distrust between people and the government that increased over the years. Wouldn’t it be better to have NGOs and community service parties to get more involved in funding (via fund raising campaigns) such projects away of the official bureaucracy?

I mean as Egypt managed to get 57357 built by the people themselves… A lot of people are proactive enough to give financial and technical support when there is such thing ahead rather than waiting for the government to take an action. But if I asked you to loan me double that amount of money to buy more goods in my shop because I'm expanding. Would you be more confident?

Interest rates and loan terms are dictated by "why" you need the money. If Egypt is creating huge national projects and industries, don't you think we can find more investors and loans?

طب ولو عندك حكومة بتاخد من الناس ضرائب وبترول وقناة, وفي نفس الوقت الناس دي بتدفع تمن الدعم والبنية والخدمات بالإضافة للضرائب يعني أساسا البلد كان فيها فائض موازنة طوووول العمر وبرضه الحكومة دي لسه بتستلف تبقى الحكومة دي إيه؟

إيرادات الدولة أكتر من كدة على ما أظن لأن غير البترول والقناة والضرائب , الرواتب اللي بتدفعها للموظفين في المدفوعات ده نتيجة شغلهم ونتيجة شغل الموظفين بالتالي بيكون عائد مادي وده المفروض يتحسب ضمن إيرادات الحكومة

Before we end the series we will suggest a number of solutions for Egypt. One of them is an annual industry focus, another is a Venture Capital solution for Small and Medium Business (SMB). Mega-projects are only one part of the plan - You are right.

@mfliberty101 Thank You. If that is your view I must go back and read Keynes. I thought he advocated government intervention (as I said in the video) whereas Monetarists advocate a laissez-faire policy.

I never knew he advocated government buying shares in the private sector or privatizing huge investments. Maybe I missed something. If so, I apologize.

@mfliberty101 Thank you for that. True that Roosevelt used Keynesian theory to defend massive public spending. The way he did it was to "buy" things and "contract" companies to build projects. Same with Kennedy and the Space program.

I think my point was the state buying shares in private projects, funding start-up companies, and using BOT as a means to cooperate with the public as well.

Same injection, but adding to supply, not only demand.

@samatawy eventually i am enjoying the debate with you and i hope you are not bothered . letting the governments buying shares in the private sector is quite risky and harmful for both sides , first governments should't and mustn't risk the pension money and trade it in shares in private sector, 2nd the governmental intervention the courses of business had always proven failure and open a wide gate for corruption.1/2

@mfliberty101 I'm enjoying this too. I wouldn't mind being wrong by the way and also like hearing new ideas. I just hope you know I'm not trying to take credit for somebody else's work.

I agree its risky and open to corruption, which is why I stated I DO NOT advocate returning to the public sector of the 50s and 60s. A strong, fault-tolerant, and transparent structure has to exist. We can either debate to formulate that structure, or find another way altogether.

@samatawy so governments can help in legalization laws encouraging free trade, there are financial institutions for financing starting up for companies and their expansions . i think that we share different views of the role of the state or the government in the economic course . again i repeat that governmental intervention the economic course will create unbalanced market and will end up by massive deflation in the best case scenario 2/2

اتفق معك فى الراى و انه افضل بكثير من سياسات الانكماش ولكن نتيجة الضعف الحالى فى المواراد و الارتفاع الشديد فى الدين العام (الديون السيادية تمثل %71 من ناتج المحلي العام والدين الخارجي %15، من الناتج المحلى) وفى ظل استمرار الوضع الرخو للدولة وغياب جهاز رقابى قوى سيصبح التوجه لمشاريع عملاقة مجازفة كبيرة شديدة المخاطر
