  • This was supposed to be the theme song for the movie..Eddie was cheated by the hollywood grass fuckers !!!

  • Edi brate moj :)

  • romancing the bone!

  • One of the places ignored by the term "latin" is Guiana; ¿is anyone from there reading now? Please click on 1980mr since i inform on my channel about the consequences of the ridiculous term "latin" applied to America; it excludes all of you unjustly; AMERICA IS A CONTINENT, WE ARE AMERICANS ALSO, NOT ONLY THE YANKEES, and it was never proven that there was 1 language derived from Latin, Yves Cortez said that they derive from Italian the so-called "neolatin" languages; Guiana is in America.

  • 9 people didn't romance the stone!

  • i like the movie version of this vid better

  • this was filmed in St. Lucia!!! Nice!

  • 80's at 8

  • Eddy hit #26 in Billboard, 7-21-84. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • LINDA CANÇAO PESADA E BOA DE SE OUVIR

  • Great video and song from the 80's, really brings back memories for me of seeing the video for the first time on "Friday Night Videos" when I was nine years old. I don't know why the song wasn't a bigger hit or why it wasn't included in the film.

  • Great song - Great movie

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAA LOVE THIS SONG <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • isnt there another solo? :/

  • Good stuff.

  • valeu..Brasil..kkk

  • EXTRAORDINAR mUSIC! :)

  • When I visited St. Lucia, I kept playing this song in my head the whole time I was there. I almost didn't want to return. But due to its high unemployment rate, many people I met there told me they planned on leaving. I don't blame them but it's such a shame that they can't stay in their beautiful island nation where they can enjoy its natural scenery. I only hope that one day, St. Lucians will not have to leave. If I could, I would have stayed myself!

  • his best song

  • (1:29) *SMACK* WTF was that o.0??

  • Really dig this Eddy Grant. Reminds me of the wild 1980's

Good video. The Man with the Big Silvarado4x4

    Mack Daddy

  • i remember this movie/song in 1984

  • this video reminds me of my old days, when i lived in saint martin... :'[ why am i in america now

  • @MrHelloimweird Dude I feel for you...America was a great country, but America is not what it once was.....I am ready to move to my ancestor home of Scotland........

  • @avionicswirenut hey im from scottland too! living in utah

  • @MrHelloimweird Saint martin is in America, America is a continent, ¿why don'y you learn to respect? Because of people like you different prefixes were applied to America such as the riduculous "latin", since under Yankeeland there are places that don't have languages considered derived from Latin, they recieve no humanitarian aid nor investmenst 'cause they are for "latin" and north America, which would not happen if everyone accepted that there is only one America.

  • @1980MPR hey just letting you know man Saint Martin is in The CARRIBEAN so maybe i'm not the one who needs to show some respect around here. Look up your facts before you post so that what you did wont happen. learn about the rest of the world, not just your precious "latin" america.

  • @MrHelloimweird ¿Did not you understand what I said? America is a continent; United states of America is a country in the American continent, and you people call it abusively "America"; the carribbean is in America, "latin" is a derogatory term that you people gave us, "latin" Ameirca does not exist; "latin" is an offensive term that excludes most places in the caribbean and because of that they recieve no humanitarian aid nor invesstments; I can't belive your ignorance;.

  • @MrHelloimweird Whoever talked to me about saint martin being in America... Its in the Carribean :/

  • @MrHelloimweird because it's the best country in the world I would guess. I maybe wrong, but I don't think I am.

  • @TheWestbrooke ya, we sure are making good use of 30% of the worlds plastics in one country. >.>

  • This song's immortal! It's like a machine that never fails!!

  • king...........

  • I don't even own the soundtrack to this movie, only the Lp, Cassette and Cd of "The Jewel Of The Nile".

  • How many different music videos are there of this song???

  • Like this song so much more than electric avenue.

  • Esta canción consiguió estar entre los 50 mejores de 1984 en la ciudad de La Paz, Bolivia, un temazo que se escuchaba en todas partes. Saludos desde las alturas.

  • Love the song, loved the movie! Those were the days!

  • I was on Barbados, and was and one in a life time experence!!!!!! great time, greetings from mexico..

  • never leave your poor heart alone... :D

  • love the 80's...so much fun, and I was SO YOUNG. The music, the movies...wish i could go back for awhile!!!!

  • If you listen closely, it IS in the movie, but briefly. It's in the part where Joan Wilder and Jack Colton go to the drug runners village and find out the drug kingpin reads her novels to the runners every Saturday. When he opens the double doors to the lush interior, if you listen closely, the guitar solo to this song is playing in the background.

  • @jmg6v yeah that`s right, they just squashed it in there. Top movie Top song, cheers.

  • I remember seeing the movie in the theater when it first came out and this song was played over the closing credits. When it came out on VHS it was gone, replaced with some mind numbingly boring crap. I strongly suspect that because the song had become a hit, they couldn't get the licensing rights to include it in the video.

  • Whoever the 8 people are who "disliked" this video, are out of their minds batshit crazy.

  • gites nuta

  • at what point did it become a crime to love songs like this?

  • @chadergeist No offence to anyone that loves this track but I can honestly see why it was dropped from the movie and in my opinion they made the right choice of going with Alan Silvestri's arrangements, but this is all history anyway, right?

  • Awesome song & Video LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you @THRILLAKILLA187 for sharing... MWAH!!

Thank you @RazMami for an awesome post!

  • This video speaks to me and the world i live in, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, 2010.

  • 83' and 84' were incredible years for music.

  • 8 justin beaver fans

  • @MrXeftilas --LOOLLL!!! I don't know how people can dislike this song...

  • I wish that stuff at 1:36 would happen to me at prom this year. Then I'd just sing to my girlfriend soon after.

  • Crazy, sick guitar!!

  • @canadianhammerfist . Yes incredible tone. especially at the time it was Phat and futuristic. really highlights the song.

  • man the 80's music was awesome, when music videos were still kinda new, and Eddie Grant was a real the talent. almost everyone I know remembers 'electric avenue'. his music brings me back to when i was still a kid and the world was still so big, he and his sound were exotic to me, very cool.

  • Good times, been 20 years since i seen this video.

  • is that a Dano (Danelectro) Origanal '59 WHite/Gold guitar he plays? :O WOW!

  • @cejason Hi, I know this post is old, but I think the guitar is a Vantage VP710, a great guitar.

  • this is a great song, i love it, georgeous beat. he is a great singer.....

  • Comment removed

  • How come all the lyrics pages to this song on the internet are wrong? The chorus has him saying "going to love the heartache away" as the second part of the chorus. Yet, all the lyrics have him repeating "hurtin away".

  • Fabulosa

  • awesome!

  • le top!!!!!

  • HIt #26 pop, #39 rock, #68 soul in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • well i can admit att that sond shekes my humps aj aj

  • In my opinion, the woman/beauty in this video looks so SEXY at that safari attire! In my opinion, what's even better, if NOT equally good or great, she's NOT wearing a bra! I, also, love her shoes-make her feet look pretty!

  • never knew that was st.lucia

  • love the part where he trows the machate in the air and turns into a guittar

  • haha I forgot this even existed lol thaks for posting, I like it

  • genial me encanta,,,¡¡¡ qe tiempos ,,, beaaaa bailando en la goofy JJAJAJJAJA

  • More power to you Eddie. Hope you feel empowered to write some more tracks soon. Here's an idea, perhaps you would consider writing a track about the powerlessness of Women from your country of origin and highlighting the suffering they go through?.

  • I lovee this song :)

  • I have this song stuck in my head all the time. It is so good, damn you, Eddy Grant!

  • The KING!

  • @Holunder37 born guyana1948moved to london 1960,had a pop band 'equals' glamrock band,13 million record sales worldwide! cut a long story short, eddy looked after his money, doesnt drink smoke or do drugs and owns all of his back catalogue, broke charts worldwide' living onthe frontline',followed by dont wana dance and romancing the stone, why they didnt go with it for the film is beyond me,the track is great, the film was shite! im a metal fan but love eddy, mean guitar player all round top bloke!

  • oh saudades de minha adolecencia

  • I don't think this is on the soundtrack? It was dropped from the movie for some reason unknown to me?

  • I was disappointed to learn this was not the theme used in the movie also.

  • From Wikipedia: An original song was composed for the soundtrack, but only its guitar solo was in the film. The song was performed by Eddy Grant. A music video of Grant's song was released.

  • @chadergeist No, it's in the movie at the part where Joan and Jack enter the "bell maker's" home.

  • @chadergeist I can tell you a reason Racism and jealousy......................That is two reasons! :/

  • @chadergeist nah it wasn`t finished in time. peace

  • @chadergeist This was on the movie soundtrack I know because I took my girlfriend to see it on one of my first dates !!! Video may not have it but it did at theaters!

  • @chadergeist it played in the background in a scene. too bad. its a great song.

  • @chadergeist Haven't seen the movie since I was a kid, but I can imagine this song being played at the ending credits.

  • EDDIE "THE GREAT"... On..mojh...oo.

  • kinda looks like Larry Fitzgerald

  • is he live or dead

  • he is alive

  • DAMN good song...wish the man made more up tempo rockers like this one!!!

  • adoro eddy grant, orincipalmente cantando I dont wanna dance ta show este vídeo, xero.

  • Who's the attractive and shapely beauty (wearing the safari attire)?

  • What a fucking hottie eddy was, and and fantastic rocker and show man and musician! cute video too.

  • It's a shame he didnt become an even bigger name in the music industry. He is very talented. Just like what 15chips said, incredibly underrated guitarist. I think he had the looks, talent to have gone alot further then what he did. But then he is also a good buisnessman as well, He's had dealings with alot of top names at his studios. What i also find impressive is his 40 yr marriage, practically unheard of today. WTG EDDY! May you be around for many more years to come.

  • where was this filmed anyone know?

  • St. Lucia I think, Carribean Island

  • I <3 this song....I'm listening to it all the time....=))) I've heard it few days ago again,after loOong time,and it's great... :) :P

  • EDDY IS THE MANE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He is not a MANE he is a MAN with a MANE..

  • Incredibly underrated Guitarist!!!

  • Mandatory 1980's electric guitar solo!

  • I love how, at 1:30, the music slap sound is synchronized to the slap on her ass.

  • @payntingdotcom if you like that one, check out Billy Idol's Eyes Without A Face video.

  • looks a bit like seal but with hair xD

  • i like that movie

  • gotta love that dancing.

  • Too bad they don't make movies like this anymore! I remember watching it when I was a kid, fond memories.

Especially since Micheal Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito formed a long lasting friendship because of this movie and didn't let their egos get in the way of having fun and forming friendships while filiming a movie that was obvious fun!

  • 1:02 funny shitface lawl

  • I hadn't heard this song in decades!! ... It's just great... I loved it back in the day, along with Boys in the street.

  • Great Song !!!

  • my dad romances the stone every night

  • This song was commissioned by the producers for the movie "Romancing the Stone" but it was all but cut from the movie except for a scene when the guitar solo is played on the radio. It was not included on the soundtrack but Grant released it anyway and it was a minor hit reaching #26 in the U.S.

  • awesome movie and even better tune.

  • Dis Song Is Da Shit Lol The Lyrics Was Funny Im Romancing My Bone Ah Shit

  • Lyrics

    - I'm romancing my bone.

    - Always hard until i'm alone

    -every night and everyday

-got a foot long hard on the way

  • Hahahahahahahah!

  • show us!!!!!!

  • God i remeber this song in 84"i was 13 and making out with my boyfriend at the time on the couch.

  • Thats Kelly Lebrock!

  • kellys the weird science chick

  • I always wondered if he did this song hoping to get it on the soundtrack or in the movie, or if they cut it out for some reason. The same thing is there with Neil Diamond's "Heartlight". I even remember seeing Neil in a picture with E.T. and the song tells the story of the movie. But it's nowhere in the movie itself. I always thought maybe these guys caught wind of movies coming out and figured if you used that movie as a song idea they couldn't help but put the song in it.

  • This song is in the movie. It's playing on a radio in the background when they get to the drug dealer's house--the one with 'Pepe'.

  • it's a shame this song only peaked at #26 on the charts in '84.

  • Who's the attractive and shapely woman in this video?

  • I'm Romancing My Bone.

  • Ha good 1 son

  • Thanks Buddy I actually Like eddy Grant. I just put that comment in there because I once saw a porn Film called "Romancing The Bone"

  • Kool song...from the good ol days...a great feel good song!!!...

  • I couldn't have said it better myself

  • Kool song....remember this song from the good ol days....none of this stabbing and credit crunch crap!!

  • This was actually cut from the film.

  • great song

  • God i rember this song.i was 13 and making out with my boyfriend at the time.

  • Eddy Grant, great voice, great song, in my opinion is bigger than Bob Marley

  • this song gets stuck in your head worse than anything else

    luv it

  • Love this song...it stays in your head for a while!! Eddie rules!!

  • He is from St. Lucia?

  • No he is from Guyana originally. Not sure why the video was partly shot in St. Lucia. I'm from there and can remember when this was being filmed. It was a big thing at the time...

  • not surprisingly my Gpa still has this song on cassette lol.

  • I would love it if someone would upload Alan Silvestri's score...

  • I remember this being the movie that actually didn't have the song in it; I watched it over and over trying to hear when the song came in and it never did.... I have always liked Eddie Grant! Still do, even over 20 years later! :)

  • yes. he was contracted to write the theme song for the movie and they didnt like it for some reason and he released it anyway and was sued.

  • I believe I remember hearing a small part of the guitar solo ... during a part when Michael Douglas and the girl entered the compound I think.

  • Could anyone post Poppy Love? I think it's from the same album. Haven't heard it since my turntable broke about 20 years ago.

  • Wow! Who's the shapely beauty, at the beginning of this video (removing her top and showing a bareback)?

  • Eddy Grant played all the instruments in this song, recording 1 track at a time

  • some dang talent that man- he rule in reggae!!

  • me encanta este video y es uno de los mejores que he visto.

  • Dammit not being included on the LaserDisc release, but I haven't seen the DVD

  • Gotta love the 80s.

  • Awesome song I looooooooove it

  • Viva Colombia. Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile with Katheleen Turner were awesome movies.

  • Amaneció quemada la pobre perica. JA, JA.

  • eddie gets his guitars from the sky.
