Because when you lift your foot off the acceleration petal you are actually cuting down air suply via the throttle body! So you have less air to burn the gasoline which has already been sprayed to the engine! The gasoline now escapes unburned to the exhaust and ignites from the gas heat as soon as it finds oxygen at the end of the exhaust pipe!

the reality is that u cannot let the car in gear (coming down on its own) on an eddy current dyno after finishing the dyno pull....the reason is that this type of dynos measure power losses after finishing the power run....u r right if the dyno was of inertial type (dynojet dynos)

ya i second that... it just backfired... alot of turbo cars do that right after a high rev. the map sensor alows tons of feul to still dump after the pull... the guy driving it must not do it alot... your suposed to let off the gas slowly and let the engine come down on its own ... in gear... let the dyno slow the wheels... you can do alot more than back fire... but blow up the welds on the exhaust too.
