  • Oh, and thanks for watching the video!

  • If there is a corner, push the trap so that it touches the two walls making the corner.

  • If there is a corner, push the trap so that it touches the two walls making the corner.

  • You mean, after the trap is set? If so, you put the trap into a corner where you know the mouse has been (they leave what looks like chocolate jimmies behind), and push it right up against the wall. If there isn't a corner, same thing - push the trap up against the wall. I put my trap right outside where the mice were entering my cabinet. As soon as the mouse came into the cabinet, he found the snack waiting for him. "Pour MOI???"

  • soooooo what happens next?????

  • Thank you for the suggestion. I will try this when I set the next trap. It's a little unnerving that I have had no mouse action in quite a while, at least not where I can see it. It makes me think they have found another place altogether to hold their parties. (I have two new cats, but really can't believe that's the reason, since my other cats apparently were not deterrents.)

  • I find it helps to tilt the trap upside down while setting it. This makes the bait trigger fall into position instead of you having to hold it up slightly and risk getting your finger snapped! My trap is slightly different, with a larger, flat bait trap, but this tip might work for you too.

  • Oh, sorry for all of you who try this and get snapped. I have not snapped my fingers doing it this way, but my husband fears I will. If you watched the video (as I assume you did), you'll see that I set it v-e-r-y carefully. Merry Christmas and a healthy fingers New Year!

  • The PIC traps SUCK. They catch more fingers than mice because they are impossible to set

  • one day i did this but i snap my finger

  • @123epicwaffles Oh, noooo! My husband was afraid I would snap my finger when I did this. I'm sorry the trap got YOU instead of the mouse. :( (It's true one has to be verrrry careful positioning the fingers doing this my way.)

  • At least the trap lasted through three mice! I guess repeated snaps can wear the trap out. I will try the VIC traps the next time I need to buy some - so far, no mice coming in for the winter...

  • I caught 3 mice with this trap tonight, and went to go set it again but the damn thing came undone and it snapped the whole thing in half, these traps are pieces of crap and very aggrevating to set. VIC traps are sooooo much better.

  • bacon is a great bait, you get it stuck in the trap, and because it's smelly the rats get caught quite fast

  • Skip to 1:000 to save some of your life

  • You are right that mice will eat the bait off this type of trap. However, if you firmly stick a juicy cranberry into peanut butter as bait, just the extra tug on that berry will trip the trap!

  • Oops, I already mentioned the wire trick below. Getting a little forgetful these days!

  • YAY! You will surely get him now. If you can find where he was coming in, you can stuff regular window screening into the hole with the pointed, sharp ends of wire going into the hole first. Make the amount of screen really fill the hole in. You can then duct tape around the hole, sticking it onto both the edge of the hole and the screening sticking out. I did this soon after I posted the video, and (knock wood), I haven't had any further visitors to my cupboard. Thanks for commenting!

  • I was doing it totally wrong!!! Hope I get that little bastard now!!!!!

  • @tytania3545 Any luck in getting the little bastard then?

  • @seldoms33nkid oh my GOD I caught 2, I feel like a pro now!!!! They were smart and would lick the peanut butter, the I changed my tactic and TIED small dog treats to the trap so it made them thug at it and WHAM!!! Thanks for getting the ball rolling!!!

  • try victor traps they have a little bit of better quality or tomcat they have more power

  • Bryce21 - you are absolutely right - just a little bit of bait works, that is, until you get a clever little guy who is expert at licking the bait off. I pushed the raisin (or cranberry, I have forgotten now what it was) into the peanut butter so that the mouse would have to tug to get it off. He set the trap off just like I planned.

  • take all that penut butter off have a little bit but u dont need all that bait

  • Funny thing is, I haven't had anymore mice in my cupboard. I learned the trick of stuffing the pointy end of a wadded piece of screen in the mouse hole and duct taping all around the edges. So far so good, through the winter thaw even.

  • Yeah that's a prime example of setting up a mouse trap. Unlike fumbling around for 1:14

  • Thank you for posting this video. There is a trick to getting this trap set. By watching your video, I was able to see what I was doing wrong.

Wish me luck with my meeses!!!!

PS I know it is wrong to kill, but I have been re-locating from live traps for weeks and they just keep coming back...and multiplying. Since they do carry diseases I am worried about my family's health. I live in the country and they are coming in for fall.
