Police call of police chases when they start endangering the public and this is no different. The fact that the cop was being shot at in no way justified him making the situation worse by pursuing them and discharging more rounds into the streets potentially hitting innocent people walking down the street or sitting in their homes.

To be honest it's not the legality of the weapons, it's the access to them. In most countries the only people who have access to weapons are law enforcement and recreational shooters (who are closely monitored). If guns were made illegal in the US it would make no difference until the majority of weapons had been confiscated/destroyed, years down the track. Unfortunately, it's not an easy path to correct the US system. They should never have been allowed, just look where it's at now..

I've shot a 115gr 9mm hollow point through a cinder block wall before. In reality even crappy range loads have more than enough power to penetrate a couple pieces of glass and still kill someone on the other side. Law enforcement caliber firearms like 9mm, 40SW and above will shred a car without hesitation, if they wouldn't the police would carry something larger and more capable.

Anyone else notice that the 7.62 was only being shot on semi. The reason AK's are so available is because they are cheap. A Chinese or Romanian rifle will set you back $400 or less. A rifle that shoots 5.56 NATO will set you back $700+.

The 1986 hughes amendment needs to be repealed, full auto should be more available to law abiding citizens and collectors. Its only the media that loves to scare people with FA. @TheMrKlowb Criminals dont follow laws (by definition). Making a gun illegal wont stop a criminal from obtaining it. It will only make the rest of us law abiding citizens an easier target. The fact that criminals get these guns regardless of the law makes obtaining them by law abiding citizens VERY necessary. Personally I don't think it's anyones business (govt included) what I choose to defend myself with. If you wanna wait in the closet for a cop who is 20 minutes out, be my guest.

To be honest it's not the legality of the weapons, it's the access to them. In most countries the only people who have access to weapons are law enforcement and recreational shooters (who are closely monitored). If guns were made illegal in the US it would make no difference until the majority of weapons had been confiscated/destroyed, years down the track. Unfortunately, it's not an easy path to correct the US system. They should never have been allowed, just look where it's at now..

@itchitrigger1 I'd say both, the thing is, they were in a residential neighborhood and the cop was being fired on because they felt threatened. Now I'm not trying to say they were justified in shooting at the cop, just saying thats why they did it. This is important because if they were just crazy people walking around waving a gun I would say the cop was justified in getting into a shootout with them. In this case instead of breaking off the pursuit he just poured more bullets into the streets.

I've shot a 115gr 9mm hollow point through a cinder block wall before. In reality even crappy range loads have more than enough power to penetrate a couple pieces of glass and still kill someone on the other side. Law enforcement caliber firearms like 9mm, 40SW and above will shred a car without hesitation, if they wouldn't the police would carry something larger and more capable.

I've seen tires shot out and the criminal asshole just kept driving on the rim, but I like your perspective. At least you're not bashing the cop about violating someone's rights.

Anyone else notice that the 7.62 was only being shot on semi. The reason AK's are so available is because they are cheap. A Chinese or Romanian rifle will set you back $400 or less. A rifle that shoots 5.56 NATO will set you back $700+.

The 1986 hughes amendment needs to be repealed, full auto should be more available to law abiding citizens and collectors. Its only the media that loves to scare people with FA. Plus, anyone who actually knows the Kalashnikov platform can convert any semi-auto AK to full with a twisty tie...AK's prevail because they are cheap to purchase and modify and shoot ammo that costs 3 times less than 5.56 NATO.
