  • Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with your recording equipment, I hope Hauppauge will be compensating you for the hassle. Incubation seems to running really well though, if it's anything like X-Com then I'll have to take a look.

How are you finding Dragon Quest IV? I've just bought a DS Lite and I'm looking for some good RPGs to play on it.

  • @LeBossu77 I had to fork over $11 just to ship the thing back. The technical support guy was nice enough, but damn, it cost nearly $200 and didn't last but a few months. On top of that, you're forced to use this terrible software suit from some third-rate company - it's as finicky as it is slow.

Incubation ran/recorded nicely, though I haven't worked out the audio bug yet.

I'm really enjoying DQIV. The different chapters have broken things up nicely, and the merchant portion

  • @LeBossu77 was a surprisingly fun diversion; I think that segment would've blown my mind back in the early 90s. Is the DS Lite region free? I'm not sure of the prices there, but Amazon US has had some rock-bottom prices on DQ stuff as of late. Save for the newest title, the rest have gotten as low as $7. I hear The World Ends With You is great, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Plus there's Final Fantasy III and IV, Darkspire, Etrian Odyssey 1-3, Radiant Historia, a lot of great stuff.

  • @TGApuleius I actually bought a copy of The World Ends With You in the last few days, it's really good but I'm still working my way through all of the tutorials, dual combat on the top and bottom screen is a nice touch. I've had Etrian Odyssey for a while now, I bought it to spur me on to buy the system but it's taken until now. Luckily for me the DS is region free, I think games like Radiant Historia were only released over there.

  • @LeBossu77 You're in pretty good shape, then. It's worth checking out Amazon for the erratic price drops - DQIV went from $17 to $7 to $9 within a week or so. Chrono Trigger stays at a pretty low price as well. The DS has one of the best RPG libraries, but I'm always leery about buying used off ebay due to piracy, since it seems it's gotten as bad for DS games as it's been for GBA.

  • @TGApuleius I've already created a list of 20+ titles that I'd like to get but I'm definitely weary of the piracy problem, I've looked at Chrono Trigger on ebay and many have gone unsold because they use stock images and have a high starting price.

  • @LeBossu77 Amazon UK ships to the US, so you might be in luck. With the exchange rate what it is, you could grab some great stuff at next to nothing. Of course, saying that, the price of the DQ games shot up since last I checked - I still have a few I need to grab, myself.

Mind sharing what else you have on the list? I'd love some ideas, as I've just gotten into picking up DS stuff.

  • @TGApuleius Yeah, no worries, it's not all RPGs (just 99% of it) but I've tried to be selective about what goes on it, no doubt I'll be adding to it as well.

  • My capture device is pretty weird, it will work on the desktop, but not on the laptop, no reason for it either really.

Think i will be winding down after Mass Effect 3 this year and just catching up on game i got last year, it will give me alot more time to play more retro titles as well. I'm starting to like the idea of getting a Wii U as my next system, and have that as my main one, considering its fully backwards compatable with Wii games and controllers.

  • @Retrosofer The things drive me nuts. I had no idea Galactic Attack wasn't recording properly until I compressed and uploaded the video onto Youtube, and then I saw the ship teleporting around. Plus that game's hard as hell - it was driving me nuts.

Mass Effect 3 is definitely one of the few titles that I want to get close to launch. I played through the Reckoning demo to unlock the ME3 stuff, and I'll be done with the DLC soon. It'll be great to see how my choices affect the end.

  • I'll be looking forward to new videos on your channel

  • @yellowcaboosemedia Thanks! Do you have anything coming up soon?

  • Can't remember if we have discussed the Vita before lol but yep I'm gonna wait and see, if I had loads of spare money i'd just buy one but i think it makes sense to wait anyway. I saw last night that Amazon have dropped the pre-order price of the Wi-Fi only model from £129.99 to £119.99 so that makes me think waiting is wise lol. Are you at all interested in the Wii U dude? :)

  • @Snestastic I have a handful of PSP titles that I really enjoy, and I think there are a few more, mostly RPGs, that I should snag before too long, but the Vita will have to beef up a bit before I put down more cash for another handheld. It's pretty similar with the Wii U, too. I need to grab the Wii Zeldas and some RPGs and platformers first, so I'll be holding off on it as well. The 3DS took up a nice chunk of my gaming budget, so it'll be older stuff/odd pickup for a bit.

  • @TGApuleius I agree the Vita needs a lot more titles, i'm gonna wait and see but if I had enough spare cash I would probably pick one up just to play Uncharted lol. I need to get Mario Galaxy 2 and finish it just incase Mario Galaxy 3 is a wii u launch title :)

  • @Snestastic I still need to work my way through Uncharted 2 and 3. Looking at the launch title/window list, I think I would just be grabbing titles I either own (Virtua Tennis 4) or are part of a series I've played a lot of (Wipeout). Sony is so stubborn that I doubt a price drop would happen for a while, so I'll just hold out until the launch titles drop some.

The Wii U is interesting, but I feel somewhat burned by Nintendo not allowing my to transfer my online

  • @TGApuleius Yeah I only want a vita at this time for uncharted, ridge racer and unit 13 and tbh I wouldn't bother with ridge as it's just the same as ridge 7 and ridge racers on psp, it never really changes all that much.

  • @Snestastic stuff to another Wii. I've sent my system in twice for repairs, and it still has overheated issues that cause artifacts to appear on the screen. I wanted to grab a newer one (black with Mario Kart) that still have backwards compatibility with the GC, but they refuse to let help out. While the content is locked to systems, they have ways to transfer stuff over, it's just they rarely do it. I'm definitely going to wait a while for the U.

  • @TGApuleius Hopefully they will get it right with the Wii U dude you never know lol. They seem to be going in the right direction with the Nintendo Network but I'll wait till June to find out exactly what allthe facts are of course. Do you think in the future the GC compat Wii's will skyrocket in price on ebay? lol

  • i'm so bloody out of touch with modern gaming when i watch vids/games like this i am astounded by the graphics.. interesting stuff dude :)

  • great game...loved it

  • @sofartohell How did you like the expansion? I'm going to try going through the original campaign first.

  • @TGApuleius sadly I dont played it,but the campaign was great...I played it when it came out in 1997
