  • I wish I had the horse for this type of show and the money........

  • Well, well done, you're a great rider etc. But I'd like to say that you're extremely lucky and you shouldn't forget that. If everyone was as lucky there'd be a lot more amazing riders out in the open. Personally, I can't even afford one horse. I ride riding school horses, but I enjoy every minute of it. My dream isn't to participate in big expensive competitions, thought that would be nice, but to spend most of my life with horses, whether I'm just mucking out stables or riding in a show ring.

  • TBH, I think ribbons can be purchased in HJ riding. I rode HJ for years and was told over and over again by my trainer that I was only what I paid for and only as good as what I was sitting on. I took break, evented for two years, and found my wings.

Now I have my own horse, a rescue, who I am training HJ--she's not brave enough for eventing. Do I have a problem with the money that people put into HJ because they can? I do not at all. I just wish the HJ crowd would accept that is how it is.

  • My friend went to the CET and guess what? Her Dad doesnt support her and her Mom works in the horse buisness. They arent rich at all. She placed second because of the hard work and the passion she has. She could only afford to go because she worked while she was there. Money isnt everything and if you think it is maybe you should take a closer look at how much these people love horses not at how much their Daddy earns a year.

  • Wow this girl can ride!!! I wish I could have gone to the maclay...but I got to go to pony finals! Is this girl still showing? I hope so, it would be a shame if she doesnt!

  • I think that if you are meant to go the Maclay, it will happen. Also, if you are truly passionate about this sport and never give up on your riding, it can happen. Money isn't everything. I just have to keep reminding myself that right now I am lucky enough to own a horse AND get to show it at a local Hunter club on a small competitive riding team all summer. I need to learn how to be appreciative of that right now. I won't give up on my dreams though. :)

  • I HATE how every HJ video goes into money. YES we all get it, money helps but I can't stand people who think money buys ribbons. Do people realize how much effort goes into this? Honestly I'm not that impressed by her horse what I am impressed by/ interested in is her OBVIOUS hours of commitment. Can't we all just accept what life gives us and be happy for her?

  • she is amazing, dont stop believing went along with her trotting an cantering

  • REAlly good equitation at 0:45

    lolz jk

but she turned out to be amazinggg

  • How many people would die for the spot that they have.

  • ugh that last round looks better than any round brianne goutal has ever done on a course, in my opinion

  • wow her horse is amazing.

  • nice video

  • Lorelei is gorgeous!

Great riding and great vid :)

  • Oh my gosh, I ride at the same place she did, Round Meadow. : )

  • oh yeah.....there is so much talent that doesnt reach big time because their daddies arent millionairs....

like example: i cant go to every show my barn offers because that would cost me 60,000$ a year and i dont have that kind of money...so instead...i have to pick and choose..

no matter how good you are, there is always someone better and richer than you to take your spot and ribbon in the show ring..so you have to remember the reason your first started riding-> loving the sport and your horse

  • @jamaicajumper16 unless your the richest best rider....hahaha :P

  • @jamaicajumper16 This girl is an excellent rider, and it's never easy to become one. Money makes gaining access a lot easier, but it can only get you so far. There are plenty of people with as much money as this girl has who never learn to ride well.

  • wow she's a great rider - that's really awesome that she got to this level - congratulations! I wish the horse industry wasn't so incredibly expensive - then more people would have this oppurtunity.

  • Nice riding. You're lucky your able to financially afford to go to all those shows, esp. the Maclay. I know several riders that would shine at big horse shows but they can't afford it so they have to hope for catch rides.

  • you are so right! im not poor but i dont have the money to spend over 20k per show.

  • me neither

  • @toocoo4yoo-yes, it must be nice. I can barely afford to go to Santa Barbara.

  • @toocoo4yoo Yes, thank you for aknowledging that fact. I am one of them.

  • Youre SUCH a good rider...and SO lucky...

  • you go katherine!

  • I live right near Atherton!! I probably have been going to all of the same shows as this girl for years... Congrats, she's an awesome rider!!!

  • congrats! i having been dreaming about that my whole life! i am hopiong that someday i will will get there too! its my all time goal! and i have to get to it!

  • whats the song at 2:00?

  • Wow!

    Beautiful equitation :)

  • amandaclover, don't be harsh, she's good.

    :) Really good :)

  • They are 3 feet and 6 inches, amandaclover . They are a lot bigger when you are standing next to them, believe me, or when you are galloping towards them lol

    gr8 vid

  • I jump 4 ft 6ins on my 14 ,2 ja pony at shows and i know what its like its pretty daunting

  • love this video!! amazing rider!

  • So true - it all comes down to that 2min trip around the ring. When it's your day, and you're in your zone, you and your horse in sync, amazing things happen. That is one fabulous feeling. Very inspiring video :)

  • how big r the fences they look tiny about 90cm or 1metre

  • the maclay fences are 3'6"

  • maclay is 3'6 but the point isnt to jump huge, its to find which riders can handle a tecnical course and look good doing it, every course and each jump is designed to test the riders and the ones that make it to nationals are the best of the best so i wouldnt be judging her to harshly if i were you

  • She is an amazing rider.

  • wow yor are amazing you look fab brill awesome xx keep it up and hope u do well x

  • why didnt she ride lorrelli in the finals?

  • great job...

  • I want to be like her....she is amazing.

  • PSJ Series shows arn't rated. They have their own medal classes and run some with the SCHJA anad NCHJA but their not USEF recognized (would have to be to be C rated). South Carolina doesn't have many shows that offer the Maclay qualifying classes which is why you only need 15 points to go to regional qualifiers (as opposed to 35 in other areas)

  • OMG she won the USEF talents search?!?! That is awesome!

    Where does she ride?

  • i knew the girl that got second she used to ride and school my ponies

  • Oh, ok, well almost all the shows in my area have the maclay, i guess the shows here are just bigger. I am from MA and i go to a lot of shows in CT, and i am moving there next year.

  • really?! i live in CT ahah yess pretty much everyshow that i go too has the maclay haha :]

  • Where is psj, I've never heard of it, but almost all the c shows i go to have the maclay, sometimes, if the show is too close to another that runs it(in some zones) they have to ask the other shows permission, and if they say no, they cant run it.

  • Do you even show in the maclay? I went a C show like a month ago the did have the maclay, the only shows that dont have the maclay are nonrated shows, or shows that didnt fill out the proper paper nwork to run it. It costs the horse show money to send in the paper work to run it, along with the USEF medal, and others, and if it is a small show, and they dont think it will fill, then it is pointless to send in the papers.

  • wow she is such a good rider she sould enter HOYS (horse of the year show) held in london wow she would do sooooo well ithink . . . why not have a go xD promis she would do well x

  • Ohhh!! okay!

    Thats amazing!!

    Good luck!

  • thanks! im going to go try a horse out tomorrow because the one im leasing now cant do the height =(

  • ohh tell me how that goes!

    and that sucks!!

    how high can he jump?

message me on my channel pweaseee..[:

  • i really like this video, shes a great rider to even qualify for regionals. im going to start showing in the maclay classes next year and i know it would be a miracle if i make it to regionals, let alone finals like she did!

also, what was that first song?

  • I dont think there are multiple classes.

Its just the Regionals and then the finals.

    Maybe im wrong though..

It would b my DREAM to do the finals... ughh. im so excited.. i hope a few years and i will b doing the regionals.

    [[:

  • what happens with the maclay, is at each A rated show there is a Maclay class that includes a course and then a flat phase. It all counts as one class and depending on how you place you earn a certain number of points. Riders have to go to several A shows throught the year to build up the points they need to qualify for regionals, and different USEF zones require different number of points, like I live in zone 3 so i would need to earn 25 points. only the riders that earn their zone's points -

  • - can show at maclay regionals. once your at regionals you have to place in the top 40% of those competing to qualify for nationals. most people only hear about regionals and finals because obviously theyre much larger and more important. i have several friends trying to qualify for regionals this year and i just started leasing a horse that i'm going to try to qualify on next year. =)

  • the points isn't by zones, its by state, like in MA you need 38, and CT(in the same zone) you need 60, its all about how many people live in the state. Also, its not necessarily 40%, its around there. Also, you dont have to go to 7, you can go to as many as needed, and it doeswnt have to be an A show, it can be a B, or C show.

  • oh, im not sure about that, all i know is that III need 25 and thats all ive every really paid attention to lol and 40% is just an estimate, theres no way of saying exactly how many riders are going to make it to each regional and how many are going to be accepted to finals. but it does have to be an A show, B and C shows don't hold the class. and i didnt say seven, i said several

  • They do hold maclay classes at B and C shows. You are wrong about that. All the B and C shows i go to they have medal and maclay classes, they just sometimes dont fill/they are at the end of the day. The only shows they dont hold them at are USEF not rated.

  • they have medal classes yes, but no they do NOT hold the maclay, only A rated shows are authorized to hold the maclay class. they have childrens equitation medal, they have pony medal, the have the age equitation medals, but they cannot hold the maclay. I do all these shows too, I'm going to start showing in the Maclay soon and the only shows you can show in it are A rated shows

  • Umm no, they really do have it at B and C shows, i currently show in it as well st the USEF medal and talent search, and all horse shows are authorized to run them if they have the correct paper work filled out. Its that the actual classes have different ratings(a, b,c) you must be confusing that, becuase i have shown my whole life, and since i was like 13 i have been showing in the maclay(almost 2 years) and i am telling you that they DO HAVE THE MACLAY CLASS AT B AND C HORSE SHOWS

  • ok... if you're perfectly certain, that may be where you are. The class itself IS rated A i know that, but at least in north carolina, none of our B or C shows hold the Maclay, but every single A show does

  • I think the class is A rated, but the horseshow does not have to. And i have shown in like prob like 1000s of shows in my life and almost all of them have had all the big eq classes, but sometimes they just dont fill.

  • yeah thats been my friend's problem this year with trying to qualify for regionals =/ she'll enter the maclay class and win it, but the class wont fill and she won't get any points for it =/ i have to pay for my shows myself so i have to be specialy careful with what shows i go to

  • Oh, yea thats gotta be annoying, my mom is like one of the trainers at the barn, so she pays for all my expences on the 3 horses i show, and the one she does. And for the medal this year MA needs 80 medal points, its so rediculous

  • yikes that sucks =/ we only need 25

  • ya its a little rediculous, at wef this year, they had like a pretest against it cause they changed it like after december 1st, but i already have like 30 so its ok... and i only need like 8 more maclay points cause i have like 30 and i need 38...

  • amazing video, amazing rider :)

  • this is an amazing video =D

  • what are all the songs? I know the second one was 1234, but i was just wondering about the others :)

  • 2:18.

    Beeeeeautiful horse!

  • 3'6-3'9 I believe

  • Beautiful story.

  • How high are the jump in cm?

I was jumping 80 cm after one year riding once a week, but only 4 of the lessons were jumping

  • I think you are unlikely to be jumping courses at 80cm after one year of training. I have been riding for 12 years now, the last 4 of which I have had a weekly lesson with an FEI accredited trainer and I am jumping 1.20m courses at home. so for you to get to 80cm in one year is unlikely.

I think she is a very good rider, some of those jumps must be about 1.15m?? I dont know, but thats a rough estimate because I wasnt there.

  • The fences at the maclay are 3'6. and its not that unlikely. I have been riding for 9 years, jumping for two of them, and im currenty showing junior/amateur owner, although not with my own horse, but a green horse at that. everyone progresses at different rates.

  • That makes no sence

  • how so? i was just saying that we all progress at different rates.

  • I know what people mean when they say money helps. But i see it boths ways, because ya, it's so much easier to go out and buy those big fancy horses. But the kids who don't have the money, if they put the time and effort into it. They could go get a cheap horse off the track or something, and if they work at it, they can do anything they want. Don't stop believing is a perfect song example of this.

  • true true, my jumper is off hte track, just started him but love him to death.

  • the entrance fees arent horrible, but the horses . . .. thats where it gets you

  • yes but getting to the show transport fees, entrance fees, horse fees, personal grrom fees, braiding.. then buying a horse.. it all gets you.

  • Thats really cool! Lorelei was just at the barn I ride at being leased. what are the odds.

  • how did she do at maclay

  • thatsd amazing great job!

  • HEY NICE JOB

    Did she win the maclay

and how tall is she and how big is her horse?

how tall is she when she older

  • AWSOME XXX

  • Wow great video! My dream it to go to the Maclay. =]

Haha I find it a little funny, I showed at Pebble Beach once with the number 111 and got Grand Champion! Guess it's lucky a lucky number. ;)

  • great video!!!

  • i want to do the macclay so freiking badd.

  • thanks

  • What's the song at 3:00 minutes.

  • dont stop beleiving-journey <3

  • Wow! Se's really good, that means a lot, hold on to your dream, and you'll get there. Doesn't matter who you are or what you have. You just have to believe in yourself.

  • thats a great video, its put together so well!

  • good job!!GREAT journey!

  • Can someone please tell me how to make it to the McClay!!!!!!!

    PLEASE!!!!

  • can somebody give me the title of the last song?

    great vid.

  • wow congrats! what an amazing journey.... very inspirational.

  • too bad only rich people have a chance

  • umm thats not the case at all.

if you try hard enough, you can get there. its not the money you have, it the effort. sure money helps, but its not everything

  • But to be one of the best dont you have to get great trainers? Those are so expensive and so are many riding lessons every week.

  • It is the money. A regular person on a regular budget can not make it to macleay finals and compete with the top riders. Macleay quality horses range in the $100,000 range. Trainers that train the top riders charge about $1000 a month for training and board, and that is on the low side. A large show can run a client thousands of $ and you dont just go to 1 show a year. And what about the cost of keeping the horses sound? A $2000 vet bill would not be uncommen @ a show.

  • @RoharaJustification Thanks, reality check lol.

  • I would like kill someone to have the money to have a top horse, but sadly I dont. Unfortunantly, money is a big part of getting somewhere in the horse world. Because if you have money, you can have the trainer, the horse and the entry fees.

  • love your walk to canter at pebble beach and your sitting trot at regionals. =]]]

  • not trying to be nosy.. but why couldnt she show her horse? =[

  • what music did u use

  • this is a great video :)

  • thats so good. how old was she at the maclay regionals my friend went to the maclays this year and she is 14! Great job though you are a wonderful rider.

  • The number 111 HAS to be a lucky number... my number was 111 for my first show at the age of seven. i got 3 1st places and the grand. i still have that number. lol!

  • shes an amazing ride!!!!!

  • I LOVE HER!!!!

  • wow you are a great rider!! im just starting english i have been riding western since i was 7, im 13 now and i started riding english 2 weeks ago haha, im traing my western horse to ride english cuz he was getting bored and fat doing just barrels and roping, so im hoping that he gets over his fear of jumping and learns so i can try and be a good rider just like you!!! :D:D

  • What an awesome journey you have had. I only wish I could have the same oppertunities as you! Fantastic job and keep up the great work :D

  • You are a great rider, i wish i could have had a life like yours =D

Still dreaming of the maclay though XD 15 and no showing at all

  • She's an amazing rider!!

  • awsome video!!

  • Man I wish i was her. I've been riding 9years, I'm 14 and i'm only doing pre-childrens =( Shes a great rider!

  • I'm the same age and i've been riding 2 years and i'm only at x-rails......so i'll be too old to do this by the time i'm at that level. ):

  • Come on u can totally do it. Just get a trainer that can take u there.

  • bist du das? :DKSW KC

  • yea even though my mom is a trainer we still dont have a lot of money to spend on a real good horse so i just ride a bunch of greens and when i find something with the potential to be good and its cheep we might get it

  • Keep riding those green horses! they will teach you more then something thats been there and done that, you never know one mya take you there :)

    xx

  • Oh yeah, that comment was for mlwfsbe! :)

  • To get to finals you need to aquire a certain number of points by going to different shows. I am actually going to finals this year!!! :)

  • Amazing video, she makes those courses look so easy.

  • how do you get to big shows would somebody mind telling me?i mean theirs the obvious go to local shows and the need of big money butdo show up and say i want to ride heres however much money give me my nummber?obviously need of a good horse to?

  • WOAH.

    what a natural.

and geeze that horse is awesome too.

  • do u know her

  • woah how do u get all that footage?

  • wow...how much does it cost to get to the Maclay? My dream is to compete in the olympics. I do three day eventing and i garentee that i will be great.

  • Comment removed

  • You have to go to 'A' or 'AA' shows and they will have a ASPCA Horsemanship class, every time you pin you get points, well over the year if you get a certain amount of points (depending on zone) you go to Maclay Regionals and they will take a certain number of riders (around 20-30 I BELIEVE) if you are in that top number you qualify for Finals.

  • wow... i wish i had the money to do the maclay.... if only i could win the lottery...

  • lol i know right

  • the course was prob well put together but her eq wasnt the best. good job tho

  • Aren't they selling her horse? She may be sold already... lovely mare, I would kill to have her.

  • Wow what an awesome and meaningful video. Very well put together. Keep it forever <3

  • My son (16 months old) LOVES this video! He goes to the computer, points and says, "dog, dog, dog" (um yeah, we're working on that part) until I play it for him. And he claps and giggles at the end of the course. I am so NOT buying him a pony yet. LOL Thanks for sharing this video & experience with everyone. What a beautiful rider!!

  • Great job, what a lucky girl ;)

  • Congrats and great video!! I just bought a big TB gelding and hope to jump like that one day!!:)

  • Wow, to bad I know ill never be there either. Keep kicking butt, with your amazing horse, and your amazing talent. =)

  • SUCH a good video, very well put together and what an amazing horse/rider combination!

  • that an awesome video!

    and a great story!

    congatz to katherine!!!!!!!!!

  • you are so lucky! im so jealous!!! i cried when i watched this... i miss riding so much and never got a chance to go cause of money!!! keep kicking ass girly!! hold on to your dreams!

  • I know that, but they have the experience as opposed to buying a finished horse with minimal showing on them. I will no way say that the horse matters everything, all these riders are so talented and everyone deserves to be there, but also a higher end horse that knows what they are doing will make for a more graceful round

  • I noticed a couple months back someone said how a Maclay horse is only 6 figures. To that I must disagree. A friend of mine Michelle made to to the Maclay Finals and her horse only cost her about 12k. How did she get there? She worked hard and found a horse with more natural talent than experience. Most of the horses you see competing have the experience, making them more expensive. BTW lovely video.

  • exacly! people seem to think that if the have an extremly expencive horse, that they'll win it all, not thinking that there hard work involved with it...your friend is very lucky :)
