I believe Wenger has now clearly passed victorinox for title of best SAK, look at all the innovation, evoseries, evogrip, the scissors, locking screwdrivers, different styles and colors, hats off to wenger.
Now that Victorinox and Wenger are practically one company, it seems like they're differentiating between the two brands. One one hand, Victorinox is the classic SAK for everyday city life, and also for camping. On the other hand, Wenger is for the serious outdoorsman, hiker, etc.
Along these lines, you'd think that the nail clippers would find its way onto a keychain-style Victorinox. The evo-grip style @8:00 is too masculine to be found in a lady's purse, IMHO.
Lesse... SwissBit, SwissBeat, SwissTool, the new Soldier, the OHT that's been out since 2003. Vic is not as classic as you seem to think. They are making their traditional style knives, but so's Wenger. They're both producing more modern styles with more tools, different tools for different uses, etc.
I don't see how one could be better than the other at this point, since Victorinox owns Wenger since 2005. Wenger was in danger of going bankrupt and Vic bought them to keep the afloat and to keep the knives Swiss-made. If anything, your perceived improvement on the part of Wenger is due to Victorinox expecting them to keep to Vic standards... Just a thought.
The awl on victorinox is better. Other than that wenger I'd nicer. Although I met the guys from wenger at 2012 shot show. There dicks!
