  • Anyone else notice the greedy hellcat taking friendly fire @ 2;47?!

  • @FuLLeFFekT1

    yeah

  • FIRST THING I DO WHEN I WATCH A WW2 VIDEO ON YOUTUBE? LOOK FOR STUPID ARGUMENTS IN THE COMMENT SECTION.

  • i like your title, a tribute to all airmen from all countries. thats very honourable and fair of you, a nice touch. after all, they were all warriors fighting for a cause that, to all of them, was right at the time. respect due to all of them.

  • amazing footage. but we mustn't forget that this is not a fun sport as it seems to be. these pilots fighted for their lives. and so many of them lost this fight. R.I.P.

  • People often see aircraft battles as some sort of romantic duels.. Still there are people dying inside those planes

  • There's something I don't understand... some of the planes being shot at just sit there and let themselves be riddled full of holes (see for instance the fighter at 4:03). Why aren't they corkscrewing all over the place trying to shake the enemy?

  • unbelievable, Why they shoot on burning plans

and is it correct that plans fired on pilots thay bail out??? how knowes it?!

  • If you look very closley, alot of those Jap bombers are strapped with the small rocket kamakazi planes in the bomb bays. This must have been during the fight for Okinawa.

  • american spam, alot of american guncams and appearently guncams of pilots failing to shoot down japanese fighters, the corsair was more dangerous to the pilot then the enemy because of its teething problems that way it earnt its nickname "ensign elimnator" the f6f was outmatched by sevrel other japanese fighters such as: J2M raiden, and the legendery N1K rex, also the Ki-84 Hayate and sevrel others, those fighters gained the upper hand easily over the allied fighters including the P-51 and f6f

  • @dividednation44 I see a lot of Jap planes going into the drink.

  • @M1GARRAND1 drink? you mean ocean? when? theres few. and japan dident care for guncams. they cared more about bieng preperred for war.

  • @dividednation44 THE CORSAIR HAD AN 11:1 KILL RATIO. 2,140 JAP PLANES AT A LOSS OF 189. You need to study up a little. Those are facts based on the Corsair alone.

  • @M1GARRAND1 i am not surprised. the corsair was more dangerous to the pilot then the enemy, thats why theey nicknamed it "ensign elimnator" however, japan after 1942 had all trainee aircrews, novices and inexperienced pilots, so evrey amerikan plane would be able to easily rack up high numbers.

  • @dividednation44 If those Japanese fighter planes really were so superior to p-51s and F6Fs then you are implying that our pilots were superior.

The Japanese planes could not take many hits without falling out of the sky. They just didn't put armor on their aircraft. Big mistake apparently.

They also lost all their experienced pilots early in the war. They sent out an all novice air force against experienced American pilots. It wouldn't have mattered if their planes were superior.

  • @help8help huh, no, you are not very well informed obviously.

the japanese had better planess but their pilots and coordination was shitty. the P51 was a disaster, many people view it as a wonder in a desperate attempt to pretend that the allies actually had a good plane, which they clearly did not. the japanese replaced their armor with agility and speed, the zero's kill/loss ration was 12:1 when they had the good pilots. long story short: the A6M owns the allied fighters

  • 2:45 friendly fire!

  • "A tribute to all Pilots who gave their lives for their countries during WW2."

Well, not for the pilots from German or Japan I hope.

  • What are these? Marauders or Mitsibushis?

  • the "game" is called ww2

  • nice graphics, what game is this?

  • @DVAFP this game is called real life it came out when the universe started

  • points for Secret Weapons Over Normandy music

  • this music is lame and totally inappropriate.

  • These japanese bombers were carrying their version of a manned cruise missile of the time. Look close at the belly of the bombers....you will see what looks like two short wings extending out from the bottom of the fuselage...these are wings of the manned bombs developed by the IJA.

  • from 2:40 the guy almost hit his flying wingman

  • you use secret weapon over normandy theme..cool..

  • Mate, nearly a team kill at 2:45.

  • @BonesTheCat that was indeed a close call!!

  • Comment removed

  • The G4M's, twin engined Japanes bombers in the beginning of this video are carrying MXY-7 Japanese Navy Manned, Suicide Attack missiles Known as "Ohka" . Each bomber has a single Ohka slung in the bombay area. Apparently the bombay doors are removed and the missile is carried halfway hanging out. Not unlike how the Bell X-1 was carried by a B-29.

  • Finally, music that isn't lame, and is actually appropriate

  • @muhammaddog hahaha my thoughts exactly!

  • If we had Mustang instead IAR 80, you were not so lucky. But even so, you lost more than 500 planes over Romania.

  • @fotosony 500 planes?..where from this data?

  • @GRATZIANI2002 Probable from The Brothers Grimm! Possible the B-24s lost in Operation Tidal Wave might be included in this number???

  • @GRATZIANI2002 I addmit that could be more or less with max 100 planes, that's because the romanian war raports and american war raports were not the same. For example, the air battle from 10 june 1944, above Bucharest. Romanian says that they have 24 victories, and just 2 lost planes, The american reports says that they have 4 kills and 12 planes lost in battle.

  • betty bomers carry baka rocket suicide planes

  • f music eats up the ex. shit

  • So good, color

  • Good shootin' Tex...

  • Be interesting if any Japanese gunners ever managed to down a fighter?

  • tribute to the US pilots who took down, plane by pl.ane, an evil government that threatened freedom

  • Comment removed

  • Yet another super-production of Hollywood, now with her actor-pilot chewing gum, and the range of each shot, (each shot, a japa primed) giving a spin in his magazine the comics, in this case, Superman, and slaughtering Mitsubishis 'Zero'

color and with a soundtrack of Warners

    Brothers ...

  • Hope youy guys learned to shoot little sharper now in the future....:XD cause guys in video werent no marksmen LOL , Japanese plane probably blew by some other reason than bullet , and whats most disturbing , the "fighter" turns it belly to bomber to break away lots of time so i call fake....

  • @zoomer70 aerial gunnery is by no means easy the act of shooting a target moving in 3 dimensions while yourself moving in 3 dimensions is very complicated and to be an ace took alot of skill. These days we have computers that tell you where your bullets will go, just get the circle over your target and you'll hit regardless. As for breaking away, thats usually a good idea, unless you were flying an Me-262, flying through the middle of a bomber formation is a pretty bad call

  • @kineticdeath also its probably better to expose your belly to the fairly inaccurate bomber gun crews than expose your canopy

  • @kineticdeath

Yes i agree that aerial gunnery took lots of skill those days! as for breaking away i respectively disagree :) as for exposing your planes belly, most of the fighters had radiators, and oil coolers under the fuselage so that is more vulnerable than the top side of the plane plus that when youre breaking away your plane makes bigger target than if you would be diving towards and past your target with great speed,Saburo Sakai and most German Aces used that tactic, great video anyway!

  • @zoomer70 fake? Are you retarded? This is obviously WW2 gun camera footage from the pacific theatre

  • @Xiolablu3

what fake? where did i say that video is fake? i never said that that wasnt actual footage... i was commenting on the tacticks?

  • @zoomer70 Sorry I misunderstood you.

  • Hope youy guys learned to shoot little sharper now in the future....:XD cause guys in video werent no marksmen LOL , Japanese plane probably blew by some other reason than bullet ,

  • 2:47 friendly?

  • That what happens when you try to killsteal.

  • @12OclockLow yes but he didnt hit him on purpose but that shit often happened that time cause sometimes they didnt see who's friend or enemy...

  • 1:46 Prospect and shooting too much !

  • @showanoisoroku yeah right lol

    Brothers...

  • @therealetorin

no no thats another japs plane... u can see it on the fuel dump... if you look video u see that japs zeros often fly with this fuel dump... americans only p 51 used it for long flights... but these is a zero plane...

  • Comment removed

  • @fronti28 ok i checked again, the one he was originaly shooting at was a zero, the one that got in the way was a hell cat.

  • that was another F6F :D with droptank. Look on wing shape and it is fatter than zeke...

  • Whats the music?

  • Amerikanische Propaganda...

    Bin genau deiner Meinung!

  • @F6F61993

    yea see it... :)

  • @YEinherierY

Yeah they should have played some Wagner instead....

  • Are there any japanese guncams?

  • Oh! Zero fighter!!! beautiful light fighters.

  • honor between real pilots is called "patience"

  • I think come 1945 neither side wanted to be in the air at all, any more.

  • The objective of war is to win; not to play fair.

  • Many planes are already burning....but they shoot on......wtf !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not a videogame !!!!

    a German

  • your right. it's war.

  • they want to make sure they are dead

  • the plane is destroyed.....thats only important....

there is an special honor between pilots....

    be fair...

  • be fair?

    fair?

    in war?

Tell me something, if you were a pilot and you saw enemies coming onto your land and air, and they are getting ready or already did drop bombs onto your land where you your people have died. Would you let that person go? I mean sure you shot down their plane. But the plane did not do anything. Its just a tool.

That pilot could easy find another one and do the same thing over.

You have to put yourself in their shoes to understand why they did those things.

  • these pilots dont drop bombs......they are hunter...

you saw the movie "Richthofen" ???

There you can see how the pilots respect each other.....this is honor between the pilots.....

    greetings from a german.....

  • Not all pilots are the same. Not all people are the same.

Some are angry and want to kill.

  • Yes ....i think thats right....

we should drink a beer together.....

    greetings

  • @Mortimerus yes,is it! greetings from a german

  • @Mortimerus WWI was a different time. The cockpits were open and the speeds were slower and the age was more innocent. Back in the 1800's people would say hello when traveling in opposite directions on horse driven carriages too. Today, people flip each other off from inside their safe metal coccoons.

  • mave.foorumi.eu

  • @Mortimerus You mean "The Red Baron"? Yes, that showed the respect between pilots in WW1. Amazing movie...

  • @Mortimerus

    They also shot at parachutes.

You aren't on the ground yet mother fucker.

  • @Mortimerus actually the movie is ''the red baron''....

  • @Mortimerus bullshit

  • @Mortimerus

I think thats cause they needed "real" skill those days. NOT like todays totally "videogame a like " BS!

WAR is getting more unfair the more technology advances...

  • @xxseexxyourxxsoulxx War is never fair

  • but when bomber pilots were shot down and alive...they go in war prison...and cant get another plane to bomb on......

  • that is only if they get caught.

  • when they landed on german ground...they get caught ....iam sure....

but many germans were not very friendly to them....

but some gave them food and drink...

  • @Mortimerus Just because an aircraft is burning does not mean the job is done.

The only way to make sure an aicraft is not salvagable is to pretty much keep firing until you get some actual results such as loss of control of the aircraft.

But i have to agree with that what matters is that the plane is destroyed.

Pilots would not set out to actually kill but rather cripple the machine, as ammunition is too scarce to waste on further injury once the aircraft is disabled.

  • @UFPAlexraptor RAF pilots were told to attack fighters hit them if they smoked leave and target either fighters. or main objective.......bombers...... fighters were escorts :) "over britain"..

  • At 2.51 does another US fighter come into the cams sights and the pilot behind continues to straff his friend?

  • Betty crews called it the "flying cig lighter" as it caught fire so easily, you had to have some trade offs for such long range (no armor or SS tanks) and with little or no escort, just targets. This was late film prob during Okinawa campaign or Iwo

  • Comment removed

  • Green painted ZERO is type 52 Otsu, a ground based fighter and final combat ready version of original.

    Too little, too late.

    Excellent video.

    Thank you!

  • You can see the "Baka" bombs clear as day on some of those Betty's. I think those Hellcats must've missed one because one hit my grandfathers ship, USS Stanly DD-478, on April 13 1945 IIRC. It went in one end and out the other and did little damage but it's sort of a dubious distinction to be one of the few ships hit by the rocket kamikazes.

  • thats probably Hellcat Guncam recorded while they engaged Betty bombers and Zeroes...you can see 4 50 cal.

  • This gun cam is a collection from both the japeneses and american look closely at 0:20 u can see the us emblem good song

  • No it's only US gun cam footage. That's a Japanese bomber.

  • God Bless America.

  • i see that the youtubers dont like america...why?

  • wow -4 for patriotism! hehe, beats me, prolly jealous. idk maybe cause we won the wars against the ppl hating us.

  • i know this music its from a game called battle over normandy or something

  • Great selection of music.

  • 2:45 really friendly fire:S

  • The pilots attacking those Mitsubishi bombers at the start of the clip possibly never realised how lucky they were. Some of the bombers were carrying the Ohka piloted Kamikaze bomb, with a one-ton warhead. Had they hit the warhead at that close range, the explosion would have knocked them out of the sky.

  • Nice music sir. Good footage. Never have seen this.

  • Japs kept their men in the sky until they were killed. Americans pulled them out after a time and used them to train the next crew on deck, thus laying the groundwork for a sustainable air war. Japs shot their load up front and had nothing in reserve.

  • 2:45 Friendly fire

  • You used the music from secret weapons over normandy, nice O:

  • The banks of the time were running the show, who ever has the most money and support WINS!! (mind you the bank **** was supporting the enemy at the start of the war and at the end they supported the allies.

  • What do you mean the banks were running the show? What does that mean? Please elaborate.

  • What's the first thing you need to start a war? LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY!!! and who has the money? The banks! So which ever side has the most money wins basicly...

  • Thats true, the UK only finished paying off its WWII loan from the USA in 2007.

  • At the beginning of ww2 germany had a very large economic boom and the banks supplied numerous amounts of money to drive their warmachine... Towards the end of ww2 Germany borrowed too much and were heading into debt.... So therefore the banks decided to stop lending them money and ultimately destroy their once fantastic warmachine. You see the only people who make money during war are banks. Everyone else suffers...

  • They fund war like it's a game and put countries into debt... It happened then and it's happening today... It's a very sad and incovenient truth...

  • I respect all soldier who die in war and i feel for their families. I don't call them heroes, I don't call what they did a sacrifice, I call it a waste... We can go on for ever talking about all the fantastic strategic war efforts we made and how our soldiers ran the enemy into the dirt but it's all just a cover up to hide the really truth...

  • And i hope that one day people come to their senses and realise that war is just another sick way to make money for somebody else... ty mate :) thx for letting me share with u ^^ srry for the jumble, word limit u know xP

  • Fuck they had some balls.

  • what song is this? Ive heard it before?

  • I heard it in the Thrillvill game. Squadron Ace it was.

  • word on the street is america sucks

  • Well get up out of the gutter, and you may hear something besides some drunk frenchie throwing up.

  • Go Hellcat, go !

  • EPIC WIN!

  • Great video!!!

  • hmm that stinks no tracers ah well they might have been runnin out that day cause someone killed a lot of japs :)

  • Tracers are clearly visible...

Also, at 2:45 a buddy of the camera man crosses infront and he has to quickly stop firing! Oops!

  • oh srry i meant at the beggining i didnt watch the end

  • yeah and looks like he took some friendly fire too . good footage

  • Amazing footage, unsuitable music given it is footage of men getting shot to pieces.

  • was the ki-21 at 0:55-1:00 carrying a baka kamikaze?

  • There appeared to be at least four aircraft in this video carrying Bakas.....Ohkas to the Japanese. That makes sense, as color film would not have been used until very late in the war.

  • As well as the fact that most of Christian Europe was fairly anti Jewish prior to WW2.

  • There was no autolock on these planes, how great heroes they were...

  • alot of skill to be able to shoot a plane out of the sky with nothing but a machine gun.

  • Reminds me of that mission in Call Of Duty : Roads To Victory PSP. R.I.P WW2 SOILDERS.

  • many of those where G4M2 betty`s, carrying Cherry Blossoms it seems.

  • When german planes were shot down, pilots who survived were ... in UK and held captive.

No way to go back home and have another plane.

  • I think thats a downed bird @ 1:40

  • woot!! kicking Imperalistic Jap ass!

  • this is kick ass!!! Amazing! my Grandfather was in this war...he doesnt like to talk about it much but I still wana all i can just by wacthing these videos.

  • Haha, that's the theme song from "Secret Weapons Over Normandy". I knew I recognized it.

  • easy for allies to fly becuase they had hundred times more and hundred times better planes

  • not really, the U.S didnt have alot of planes until the late 1940's. The Germans had alot of good aircraft, like there jets. The Messerschmitt 262, also the German the Me P.1101 design components were subsequently used by Bell as the basis for the Bell X-5, which was the first aircraft capable of varying its wing geometry while in flight, which we used in the korean war.

  • Until the Hellcat was introduced to the USN, the main fighter aircraft being used was the Wildcat, which, unfortunately was inferior to the Japanese Zero model at that time.

As the war progressed, things DID start to shift in US favour, but it's definately not like you say it was.

  • the 262 came a littel too late and i dont know if you know this must of them were crashed at landing killing the poilts so its not a good aircraft

  • The RAF won the battle the Battle of Britain despite being outnumbered around 3/1 everytime they took to the air!

At the start of the war the Germans had the largest and strongest airforce in the world, so your comment doesnt add up i'm afraid! It was tactics and skill that won the day!

  • Allied planes were better and in battle of britain germans planes had such a short range that they could fight only few minutes

  • The RAF planes were not better to begin with AND we had less of them. That also applies for the pacific theatre the Japanese Zero was far superior to any allied plane in the begining of the war.

PS. The Germans had 30 minutes flying time over Britain. Thats plenty when you consider you could use all your ammunition in 15 seconds.

  • 30 minutes isn't really that long, considering you need time to locate the enemy, time to intercept, time to do the dogfighting to get in a position to fire.

  • They didnt need to locate the enemy as such. They were at the time attacking the airfields the RAF came to intercept them not the other way about.

  • Remember that would be 30 minutes of flight time at cruise speeds. You'll throttle up in combat. So you'll be loitering over the battlefield, when the enemy gets there and you're in the dog fight, you might find you'll have to break off before you've achieved much.

  • mm.. I've read adolf galland's book where he writes about battle of britain. He thought that one reason for loosing was the short range of bf-109.. But that's just one side of the story..

And dont get me wrong. I respect very much britsh pilots

  • ONE reason perhaps. But remember the 109 wasnt even deployed the most despite being the most famous.

However the biggest reason for RAF victory was the Luftwaffe decision to stop attacking the airfields and start attacking the cities! The RAF was a week to two weeks away from collapse at that point. It gave the RAF time to recover and replenish

Had the Luftwaffe continued i'm certain an invasion would have happened and Britain would have lost the war.

  • They may not have lost if their was an invasion. There has been many studies done about it and they have done wargames where generals from both sides back then have taken part and actually the British won quite comfortably. Don't forget we still had the royal navy. It would just steam into the channel if there was an invasion ad cause chaos even if the Germans had air superiority.

  • The Luftwaffe had the better airforce actually, but they had stupid leaders. If Hitler just let them (the Lutfwaffe) do what they were doing, the RAF would've been annhilatted...but history and fate wasn't supposed to go that way.

  • I'll think you will find that is what I was saying, actually.

  • Sorry, that reply was for Davetonia.

  • No one "gives their life for their country". It's taken from them.

  • nodarnfool,

Check your history (and i dont meen the history channel) The US had been killing U Boats and US ships had been attacked long before Pearl by German uboats.

  • First of all, LEARN HOW TO WRITE, the MEN who flew those planes were real men, you should be ashamed for trying to take credit for something they did. They put their life on the line for our freedom! From the way you wrote you need to get an education, they put it on the line so you could be free and learn. They did their part , now you do yours.

  • wow. just wow. lets point out soem stupidity.

    A. few ww2 vets are even left, and i doubt they would use youtube

    B. your typing skills match that of a 15 year old hot head (particuarly pwnd)

    C. im sure very few pilots saw both war fronts

    D. most REAL pilots say Jerries, not krowts/krauts

    E. the BIGGEST mistake- usaf. you could be in an air force or the army air core. not u.s. air force

  • Hiler stated that Italy cost him the war. That delay going into Russland saved those mongol bastards, nothing else. The world's largest mass murderer STALIN fled Moscow when he heard the SS was near, that coward.Bigger crime is being allied with them, look at the world today because of their criminal exploits.
