  • over the last decade i think ireland and south africa have really developed a rivalry. they play a similair style and the games are often very close. Irish players dominating the lions tour in 2009 meant that alot of these players are out for revenge given the way the series went

  • gio aplon scored a wonderful try, then gave away two and got the utter shit pulled out of him by bowe and bod

  • juan smith looks like matt damon

  • @lachie10 yea he does lol

  • not a full crowd

  • @Testostrone250 cos a ticket to that match could only come if you bought with a ticket to the samoan game also. I had to buy both, which actually was worth the money, but nobody else thought so

  • I think the value of this is seen in how the world champions were so delighted to get away with a 2 point win. Times have changed for the better.

  • Wow, this is breath taking!

  • tommy bowe is GREAT at catching crossfield kicks then stepping inwards

  • ireland is the best team of the world!!!!!!!!!and ronan ogara best fly half!!!

  • @ShakoGachechiladze hahahahaha

  • @ShakoGachechiladze nah o'gara is a lightweight. sexton is better. im irish btw

o'driscoll however, is definitely one of the best players ever

  • @DubDivisionOfficial O'Gara has proven you completely wrong it would seem. 4th highest points scorer in history, better field-kicker, far better leader and reader of a game. Much stronger temperament... I could go on and on.

    Such a silly comment.

  • @LiamMacSuibhne don't get me wrong, he is an extremely high class kicker - but sexton is only 25 and has only been in the irish team for about two or three years. obviously o'gara's experience would be better - but in terms of leadership? BOD himself said that Sexton's half time speech in the heineken cup final gave the leinster team the strength to perform that huge comeback

  • @DubDivisionOfficial indeed he did...because he's an out half. An out halves have to be top class. But this is international stage, international level. And O'Gara has (literally!) lost more Heineken Cups through a bounce of the ball or a bad referee than Sexton can even contemplate. O'Gara is in 4th place all time - soon to be 3rd or 2nd simply because you can't make it that far unless you're World class. O'Gara has won more matches through talent and intelligence than most. Lightweight?? Wrong

  • @LiamMacSuibhne I suppose what I'm trying to say is if you can't praise Sexton without drawing some sort of bitter attack-comparison with O'Gara, then it shows the folly of your logic. And indeed, that your 'logic' is anything but.

It's getting old. Yet the older man is only upping his game.

  • @LiamMacSuibhne I'm not denying that o'gara is a great tactical player, and i didnt mean the metaphorical meaning of lightweight, i meant physically he's a lightweight who cant tackle for shit. otherwise, apart from direct offence, he was a great player. but having to devote one of the back row to defending o'gara's position was too much of a deficit to the team and that's why i think sexton will make more of a difference

but yes o'gara is performing greatly now

  • stringer-o'gara what a great pair

  • Combatbok's a dick

  • actually i just noticed, Ireland wore a different shirt in the second half than they did in the first half, anyone know why?

  • @fazer990 its celebrating the first major rugby international at the new Aviva Stadium a commemorative Ireland jersey

  • @bolgert911 ok but why did they then change it during half time?

  • @fazer990 New kit to promote...money talks, and that...

  • @wildebest

That wasnt the reason. Apparently the shirt didnt feel comfortable after the rain in the first half and the ball was slipping off it, so they changed.

  • how come Ireland wore this shirt then, but haven't worn it since? for example in the 2011 six nations?

  • I think we used up the whole bottle of holy water :) classic!

  • @MrDempseyroll

The ball is a foot long. Make sense now?

  • why rugby is like american football ?

  • @muffles12 more like why is american football like rugby, lol. also, how can you call it football, you don't really use your feet.

  • @muffles12 American football was introduced to america as a variation of rugby..

  • 2:57...best try that night

  • Best quotes ever in this

  • JUAN.

  • Ireland are a tough team. However if we are not missing as many players as we had missing from the tour, then I think we would have been more convincing..

  • Comment removed

  • We just used up the whole bottle of holy water!!! What a quote!!!

  • the world champions almost drew with ireland. if o'gara would have got that kick, it would have been a tie

  • @wizkidify would've could've should've

  • Have you seen them rucking!? They push as hard as rhinos do.

    TABARNAK J'appelle ça pousser moé

  • its amazing how these european teams think they are better then SA they would all get so destroyed if they were to play the springboks in South Africa

  • @bchaotich I don't think Ireland thought they were better, but i'm sure they believed they could win the game on the day. I think it would be bizzare if they didn't think that, after all Ireland played well below par and were still only inches away from a draw. BTW what do the South African rugby public think of Bjorn Basson and Chiliboy Ralepelle being sent home after testing positive to a banned substance?

  • @gally50 ya im just talking about the media there and the european rugby experts saying ireland will definitly win.......... but ireland are a quality rugby side. and that wasnt performance enhancing substance it was sum nasal thing aparantly for their blocked noses but ya thats pretty stupid of them...... wat with media these days can never trust them

  • @bchaotich ...yes... home advantage... sure works both ways... what's your point?

  • That is such a cool stadium.

  • Been a long time between grand slams for the springboks, who knows maybe they could actually do it for once.

  • Gawd Ireland did their best to make SA look good.

  • ireland where dreadfull for the whole 80 mins

  • Both teams an AMAZING effort,

    Ireland had some luck,

but you could really see the difference when o'gara and stringer came on the pitch

i love to see them play, always some nice tries because of them!

  • It is going to be a very long season for Ireland, our scrum was destroyed and our line out wasn't great. Reddan is not up to international standard either, a decent scrum half but not as good as O'Leary or Stringer

  • @brianhourigan Scrum wasn't bad - come on a long way from last year and destroyed the SA one a few times.

Ireland relies on key players way more than the likes of France, England, South africa etc who have huge player depth.

We need O'Connell and Cullen - who are on par with Matfield n Co. in my opinion - but are also the only decent locks in the land. We have replacements now for most positions - but the replacements are rarely as spectacular as our first XV players.

  • @dadubs93 I disagree 1-5 we got destroyed. Regardless of the breakaway try and the poor defense for the second one we lost a few of our own lineouts, that shouldn't happen if we want to be seen as contenders for anything to be honest. Our Scrum wasn't good at all, we don't have good scrummaging props either starting or as replacements. I'm not trying to be gloom and doom but I think it is fair to say we have alot of work to do for 2011...alot!

  • @brianhourigan Ah yeah a fair bit of work needs to be done before 2011 based on that game anyway - but its better the problems happens now - in 2006 we spanked SA and AUS - then Demolished England in the following Six Nations - then ended up flopping in the World cup.

Im being optimistic here and basing it on SA putting all their energy in their supreme forward pack against our depleted front 5 which lost the game - but that doesnt excuse our elementery mistakes and knock on's.

  • @dadubs93 Here's hoping we can recover at least two wins out of four for this series, and then do some damage in the six nations.

  • du plessis back at hooker yeyah bout time smit needs to quit

  • Gio Aplon make 2 mistakes, 2 trys!

  • ireland came so close in the end

they were horrible just because of

o' gara it was a close game he really made

    a difference.but springboks were amazing

i just hope now they win the grand slam.

  • If it wasnt for that Mattfield tackle in the corner the irish 15 could have run it in closer to the post... Mattfield my boy!

  • ireland played crap that day they were all over the place

  • we were luky we got within 2 points
