In my assessment, everybody except the guy who saved the dog and maybe 1 or 2 of the kids is either a complete dumbass, a worthless fuckface, or both.
So I don't agree with what the cops did, but I can understand it if the man was getting belligerent. Someone not in the right mind would not do any good for anyone, especially the dog. But also understand why the man was upset. However, instead of losing it he should have talk to the police calmly and worked out a solution. I'm am glad the woman hugged the two guys that saved the dog. That is respect and appreciation.

Had anyone bothered to watch the video the whole way through, they would have noted that she was trying to calm her husband down, he did something stupid and she got upset but she went back and thanked the guys who pulled the dog from the water. Between her husband going to jail and her dog in a life threatening situation, she was hysterical and I felt really bad for all of them. My dog is the closest thing I'll ever get to a child and I'd be just as anxious about her survival as these people.

You have to look at this from both sides. I can understand the guy wanted to save his dog and risking his own life, I would want to do the same, as they are consider part of the family. But the cops don't want him getting trapped in or worst under the ice or freezing to death due to hypothermia, because then they are held responsible and they had emergency crew deal with the situation that train to handle the situation safer. They more likely released him after the situation was over.

i am a volunteer firefighter. as soon as the dispatch was released..the fire dptm should have been alerted. yes the cops need to show up but the fire dptm needed to get there asap. im not really sure what that guys problem was...well maybe the fire dptm should have responded quicker...but arresting the man was un needed

I was under the impression that the police had been called to the scene and were simply interested in keeping other people from injuring themselves from the ice and water. What I didn't hear about was how help was on the way, and from the owner's speech to the policemen, he didn't realize help was on the way either. This could have been avoided if they had simply informed him.
I was 15 when my dog died this way. But there was no resquers, and I was too scared... or too smart to try to save him. So I had been standing there and watching how my dog fights for his life. Slower and slower. Finally I couldn't stay watching and... left him and went away... He was barking... he thought his owner save him... But the human life is more important. The cold water is a quaranteed death.

I would have thanked the men who rescued my dog & not screamed at them. BUT if my dog had died & the police had come just to stop me saving him, I don't know how I could recover. Years ago my dad rescued our family dog from a mountain river by tying a series of coats/shirts together to form a rope & wading in. You have to look at this from both sides. I can understand the guy wanted to save his dog and risking his own life, I would want to do the same, as they are consider part of the family. But the cops don't want him getting trapped in or worst under the ice or freezing to death due to hypothermia, because then they are held responsible and they had emergency crew deal with the situation that train to handle the situation safer. They more likely released him after the situation was over.

I was 15 when my dog died this way. But there was no resquers, and I was too scared... or too smart to try to save him. So I had been standing there and watching how my dog fights for his life. Slower and slower. Finally I couldn't stay watching and... left him and went away... He was barking... he thought his owner save him... But the human life is more important. The cold water is a quaranteed death.

I would have thanked the men who rescued my dog & not screamed at them. BUT if my dog had died & the police had come just to stop me saving him, I don't know how I could recover. Years ago my dad rescued our family dog from a mountain river by tying a series of coats/shirts together to form a rope & wading in.
