This was all part of a drill, the alarm came in as an AFA and was upgraded by Command reporting a working apartment fire. Hope that answers your question.
I just found this video on a search. Both my parents are from Tamaqua.I volunteer here just south of Allentown.I Love the old tradition gamewell system and your horn.I wish I lived there would join your department!
citizens 65 7 years has gone by since i was last in Tamaqua i see you guys are still the first station at the scene thats how it was when i lived in Tamaqua as soon as the alarm went off your trucks were the first i seen good job keep it up in case you are wondering who this My name is Jonathan R Gernert if i could i would move back to Tamaqua my hometown and join your station but i moved on in my life im now 18 and live in McEwensville and run with warrior run area fire dept station 9.
Citizen's has a 2T22 siren on top of their house, I suspect the horn you hear could be West End's. About 10 years ago they were giving fire truck rides during the borough's Heritage Festival in October. They had at that time a 1973 ALF Pioneer pump with a nice-sounding Detroit 6V-53 in it. I had an unforgetable ride in the shotgun seat that day. I just wish I had my camcorder at that time. That was a REAL fire truck.
Is this the Fire Dept that went to Red Bird Egg Farm a few years ago. The plant caught on fire. Please let me know. The plant was like on top of a hill.
the fog horn is the house siren. it works on a blast count system. 5 blast then a break then 4 blast would be the pull all arm on this block and this street.
check out the other video of this....it's a drill....and the fog horn is probly their house siren......they get strange when you go up this far north in PA...ehehehheh
The "Fog horn" is an older way to call the Fire Dept to a fire. The series of blasts tells the fire dpt exactly where the fire is basically. Now, I'm sure this is used in conjunction with a county dispatch, but it's still a piece of history.
At least, if this is the same thing that the Emmaus FD used oh so long ago.
what is that horn in the background?
flames41418 1 month ago
@flames41418 The horn in the background is part of a Gamewell box alarm system that is still active within the borough
