@gears2boomshield Yes, it has 2 gas engine options and 1 diesel engine option. For US Market it is only 1.6. For other markets they have a 1.4 and 1.6 gasoline engine. For Europe they also have the 1.5 Diesel. I wanted the 1.6, but the dealer stopped selling that one here when I went to buy it. There are just few 2007 Hyundai Accent with 1.6 engine in my country. The 1.4 is OK for that car, but I know the 1.6 matches way better with the car performance.
not too bad for an economic car? its like when my cousin had a minimum wage part time job, when he got his paycheck said, "not bad for a p/t job" i mean, he just got paid the lowest it can legally be, how can that be good???
YES, IT'S NOT BAD FOR AN ECONOMIC CAR. what are you expecting from a 1.4 engine, no turbo, but with way better output than many other engine with similar displacement? Dude, set you expectations right, this is not a V6, nor a 3.0 in line 4 cyl engine. At least it has an output proportional to the displacement, not like many American cars, with a huge displacement an poor output, i.e Ford Mustang 2010: V8 engine with a barely 305 HP, That SUCKS!! Other cars make the same with smaller engines.
@wtrdogg20 i know its been a year but, let me remind you of the great powerful 200hp 5.0L mustang of the 90's LOL, my 93 scoupe turbo with half the horsepower kept up bumper to bumper... was sad.... a 1.5L @ 5 psi 7.5:1 compression.
i have an 81 Dodge Ram, but i kinda want to keep it now... after driving my friends car and seeing how many people pull out in front of me or cut me off versus no one with the balls to pull out in front of my truck lol
Also, my truck has a sort of personality... and i like the almost go-kart like feel to it (that's one big go-kart!) of course its not that fast of a truck but its enough for me
So, more or less, it's 11 seconds - how does it look like in a manulat? I am curiuos cuz I have i30 with the same 1.4 engine, which produces 110HP, in manual it says it accelerates 0-100km/h in 11,6 seconds, but I think it is possible to have better time with 110HP. I heard many od dohc/vvti/vtec/etc engines can achieve better road-results than they have in manuals
Yes, the 1.4 in the i30 is not Alpha II 1.4, I think it is a Gamma II 1.4, with a different intake generating 110HP, it is like the 1.6 in the Accent (Alpha II 1.6 112HP) and the 1.6 in the i30 (Gamma II 1.6 122HP). I am planning to get a small supercharger or a turbo to get the car in more or less 130HP, it is good enough for that small car.
I have a friend who just bought a navy blue 4-dr. with the cash 4 clunkers. He says he really likes it. But I would rather have a Tucson b/c I do some light off-roading.
To take someone from point A to point B in a confortable, safety and economic way..... Not all cars must be the a car with a big "fuel burning machine" engine and 300 HP, with no sense of fuel economy, like the GM cars.... C'mon! Hope a young boy like you can understand that.

LOL..easy my friend...I always try to be professional in my comments, based on personal experience and facts. Regarding the gear box, well, manual in a city full on traffic jams is horrible. This is just an econocar, a small engine to take me from point A to point B, with a lot of confort and safe :-). Just what I needed for the good price I paid. As I said, the video was unplanned, I cant even complete it because the traffic ahead.
When you do acceleration in manual gear box, you have to take the engine to 6k RPM so you can use most of the engine power to accelerate as fast as possible. In automatic gear box, the car will do it on first gear, but in the other it will apply the gear change at around 4k or 5k rpm, I turned off the OD until car was about to apply the last gear (4th), to make sure the 3rd gear reaches the 6k rpm. I start in L, then moved 2, then D, and at the end I turned on the OD, Check the display.
The Overdrive will help you to reach speed, but only while the car is running on 4th gear. I wasnt able to use the 4th gear in video because, as you may see, I got some traffic ahead and I couldnt go fast anymore. If I remember well, there were some COPS looking for drunk drivers or people with no driver license. That was a 4:00 AM.
If you go to the Hyundai Motors International website, there are 2 engines available for the Accent 2007: 1.6 and 1.4, the 1.4 is only available for some countries like in Europe, Latin America, Australia and some Arabian Countries...I live in Panama, we have the 1.4 available.
I thought the 2007 was a 1.6? Mine is.

You don't sound objective and professional on other posts. anyways, why not get a manual instead auto? Now go ahead and remove it.

Why did you have overdrive off? Isn't that supposed to help it reach higher speeds?
