Jeremy Bret's performance's are indeed as good as Sir Doyle's books. And in fact his character portrayal captures and adds dimension that Doyle does not explore. Thanks for posting Post More Please.
The movie version with Rathbone/Bruce was much more involved with Moriarty (Blow gun at the races) but follows the theories in the same way. I prefered the Rathbone Sh.Holmes actor - but I did not like the mid-20th century aspects of WWII. This version, although closer to the Doyle books, lost the glamour and spectacle of the Rathbone series.
I never write comments but I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you posting these Sherlock Holmes videos. They truly brighten my day. Thank you soooo..... very much!
@ranjitnair1983: Actually, if you read Sherlock Holmes: The Unauthorized Biography, it says that he's from noble birth and holds the title of 'Sir'. His family had a home in Northern England, if I remember right. Sometimes it makes references to his past in the canonical stories, but it's not much to go on.

I noticed at the end that Holmes made his own little cheer with just Watson. It's like a bit of a personal indication on Holmes's part that the Colonel is no friend to him, as he had said, and that only Watson is. Ah, the smallest movements speak louder than words.
Unless of course, that is normal of toasting? Perhaps it is. In that case.....it's still a move made by Holmes, who is by no means "normal." All is well.
because he's telling them the clues he found. he thought that the trainer must've been practicing niking the heel on some other thing, and when he asked the stable boy about the sheep being limp, he was sure of his assumption. i guess they decided to make him sound funny by making him do sheep noises? holmes never did them.
I find it hard to believe that a man would not recognize his own horse because of the mere alteration of the blaze. Compare to your mother dying her hair, a minor change in your dog's appearance, or your boss wearing a cowboy hat.
@notAbba well, horses' faces may look very similar, i think. so even if he knew the physique, he wouldnt recognize him. and imagine someone taking out their signature beard or something. imagine a twin taking off a piece of clothing that used to make her different from her sister. would you still know one from the other? i think its probable.

OMG I just loved this chapter!!! I never watched it complete on tv... it's great. pitty that this last part id damaged... but anyway, it doesn't miss that much of the action...
What a shame. I so wanted to see him bleat. It's still pretty funny to hear him though.
Also, I want to thank you, thank you, thank you for posting these episodes. I stumbled upon Jeremy Brett on imdb last week and finally looked for the adventures and the return here.
If the horse kicked him while he was behind it yes, or if it caught him low enough on the foot it might leave some identifiable mark. The smoother front of the hoof, which seems to have happened here, would just leave a featureless indent.
Hurrah for Holmes, I remember reading this one - all the episodes are amazing and so faithful to the original stories. JB rocks as Holmes. Very disappointed to see the new film trailer completely missing the point of SH - yes an able fighter at need but not an action hero or remotely interested in the opposite sex...
By the way, I rather enjoyed the abstract art.....scattered throughout this episode!! (Yah, I know)

I wonder if Jeremy added the bleat to the end of his line. He's humorous like that.

I love how Sherlock says that no sane human would every cut an animal in such a cruel way. :) Men were such gentlemen back then.

Jeremy Brett is capable of making the most interesting noises. The snarling noise in "The Second Stain" and now the bleating in this. *shakes head*

wouldn't the blow from the horse's hoof have left some sort of horseshoe-shaped indentation (even a vaguely outlined one?) on the man's forehead?
